I can only say that in french "Gimp" don't have any sens or means...Ok...it's a
big troll on french forums about "Photoshop is the best!" "Gimp rules !"...but
the name in itself have no sens.
As a froggy, I love the sound of "The Gimp" even if it's an acronym.

Sincerely.

Very clear.
Thanks for a so clear and energizing answer Simon !
It's full of good things even if you warn us about the time it can take.
Topic almost closed for me...

Sincerely.

Thanks for your cool answer Simon...mine to Carol was almost sarcastic.

You just made me hold my breath ! (not to much time I hope...). Help you are
asking for then help you will have !... but it will be another topic I think.

Then to stay in the subject...you mean that The Gimp 2.4 will be able to deal
with things like direct effects, adjustement layers, vector text ?

Sincerely.

Hi carol.

You mean ? :"Gimp went into feature freeze in October 1997. This meant that no
new features would be added to the Gimp core libraries and program."
cf : http://k12linux.mesd.k12.or.us/docs/gimp/en/ch01s03.html
And then there is no reason to wait for real-pro features like group-layers,
effects on layers, vector text, adjustement layers, vector layers, infinite
number of chanels ?

Damn...I'm realy sad...I will never be able to use Gimp for my work.

But...it's strange ! Because :
"An image manipulation program was the consensus. A program that would at the
very least lessen the necessity of using commercial software under `Windoze' or
on the `Macintoy.'"
cf : http://k12linux.mesd.k12.or.us/docs/gimp/en/ch01s03.html

Then ? What is the futur for Gimp ? To be or not to be a "program that would at
the very least lessen the necessity of using commercial software under
`Windoze' or on the `Macintoy.'" ?
