Any good mechanism/filter to remove facial hair :-) ? I was trying the colour map, turning stubble colour to skin, but not with much success. Anyone got a good tip? Paul

Sorry for the lack of details there. A crater next to a mound is what I'm after. I'll mess about with bump mapping later, and see what I can do. Thanks for your help.

Compiling gimp 1.1.24
Hi everyone! I'm trying to compile the latest gimp source code with Mandrake 7.1, but when running make, I get the error messages shown below. I've got gettext-0.10.35 installed, along with the development package. Other software: gtk+/glib 1.2.8 glibc-2.1.3 Any ideas on getting it to compile? /usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app/about_dialog.c:256: undefined reference to `dcgettext__' /usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app/about_dialog.c:307: undefined reference to `dcgettext__' /usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app/about_dialog.c:317: undefined reference to `dcgettext__' /usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app/about_dialog.c:357: undefined reference to `dcgettext__' airbrush.o: In function `airbrush_options_new': /usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app/airbrush.c:141: undefined reference to `dcgettext__' airbrush.o:/usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app/airbrush.c:154: more undefined references to `dcgettext__' follow collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [gimp] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24/app' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/apps/Graphics/gimp-1.1.24' make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2 Cheers!

PDL Config File?
Hi everyone, Trying to make GIMP 1.1.20 earlier, it stops because I don't have perl PDL installed. So, I did perl -MCPAN -e shell, then went through the configuration. But the 2 ftp's that I chose in the UK, aren't letting me connect. I can't find the config file, so I can remove it then setup the preferences again. Does anyone know what the file is called, and where it is?? Thanks for any help.
A Few questions...
I have installed the latest development version (1.1.19), with just /configure,make,make install...does anyone know how much disk space that would take up? Another thing I've ben wondering...I've seen numerous screenshots on the web, and GIMP had it's colour pickers, brush, patern and gradient buttons all on the right hand side. I have them at the bottom, and I can't find anything relevant in the preferences. Is there a way to change the layout in this version? Finally :) I read somewhere that there was a GIMP Hollywood project (I can't remember where I read that though)...any more info about what that is exactly? Thanks guys. -- Cheers, Paul
Image slice
Is there a plugin/script that I could use, to slice a particular image into 6 or 7 parts, then assign a URL to each piece..like in Adobe ImageReady? I'm using Gimp 1.1.19 Thanks for any info
Page layout tool
Hi, After I create grahpics on my Linux system with the Gimp, is there any page layout or DTP programs for Linux you all recommend? Thanks, --Paul T. "Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction." Pierre Pachet, Professor of Physiology at Toulouse, 1872.
Color replacement (tool)?
Hi, In Corel Draw there is a thing called a color replacement tool. It allows you to select a color in an image you are working on and then select another color that you want to replace the first one with. Then you take this tool and wipe it over areas of your work where the color you want to replace is. The color gets replaced without affecting any of the other colors. How do we do this with Gimp? What I need this for is when I make a little graphic for a web page and cut out thhe background so that the background is transparent, often off colored pixels are left on the edges of the graphic and show up when the graphic is placed on a web page making the graphic look bad. So if I can replace these pixel's color I can clean up the edges of the graphic. Any tips on accomplishing any of this would be appreciated. Thanks, --Paul T. -- "Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction." Pierre Pachet, Professor of Physiology at Toulouse, 1872.
