Re: Panorama Plugin for Linux Gimp?
Forgive me if this is a daft question but.. I'm a GIMP newbie but have used stuff like PSP and photoshop. My understanding was that plugins were precompiled and placed into some 'plugin directory' that way it gets loaded dynamically. Surely this mechanism is in Gimp? -Lea. Re: Panorama Plugin for Linux Gimp?
I gave an attempt at compiling this, but it is for gimp-1.0.4 and I am using the latest CVS version. You don't have to use the whole source tree to compile it (at least I don't think). Just compile with 'gcc -c `gimp-config --cflags` *.c' and you can link it using 'gcc `gimp-config --libs` *.o -o panorama'. Try it out and see if this does the job. -James Smaby

I'm a GIMP newbie but have used stuff like PSP and photoshop. My understanding was that plugins were precompiled and placed into some 'plugin directory' that way it gets loaded dynamically. Surely this mechanism is in Gimp? Plug-ins are registered upon startup, and all the plug-ins are in an internal database. Have a good look at the TOOLBOX menu, I think you can search for certain functions/plugins. Most of the GIMP is supposibly impliemented through plug-ins., and you shouldn't have to recompile. Panorama Plugin for Linux Gimp?
[Forgive me if this is the wrong spot to ask these questions] As some of you may know, there is a Gimp plugin for creating panorama pics: http://www.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/ I can recall the pain I went through to compile my own version of Gimp to have this nifty plugin. I have encouraged the author to make his plugin 'official' so that it becomes part of future Gimp releases on Linux (especially RPM's). Having said this, rather than going through the hair-pulling that I did in the past, does anyone have a compiled version of Linux Gimp (or even an RPM) that has this plugin included? I would appreicate it! Dare -- Darren Enns EMAIL: [EMAIL PROTECTED] HTTP: members.home.net/dmenns
