What OS are you using? [Gimp-user] Problem with windws and tools disappearing
I've used Gimp 2.4.2 for years now, and haven't upgraded because it works fine. Today for some unknown reason, when I open a file in Gimp and click Colors>Brightness/Contrast, the window for the Contrast/Brightness tool shows on the bottom taskbar of my computer, but I cannot access it. It's as if it's minimized and I cannot undo that. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gimp, but it seems to be keeping settings and/or files on my computer because even after uninstalling it, rebooting and reinstalling it, the work history still shows up and the problem is still there. I even tried uninstalling Gimp and upgrading to the latest version (2.8.whatever) and now the problem is happening with the Hue/Contrast tool. It simply does not open. On the main menu it will show the Hue/Contrast dialogue box, but it says something about "Tool has no options". I can't even find what that says now, because when I re-open Gimp, I do not get the main menu that used to pop up. Only a window to open a new file. Is Gimp string some sort of corrupted files on my computer? [Gimp-user] Print layout not keeping track ?
Hello ! I have spent the last 3 hours trying to print an image properly under Windows 7. If I use the print command under Windows' explorer, I get that crap assistant that is always streching pictures to fit the paper. So I wanted to stick to GIMP, and print my little 5cm × 4cm image onto a 10x15 paper. But no matter how many times i tried, it is impossible to specify the layout as being something different from A4. I go to FIle -> Layout (underneath the "print" line) and specify 4"×6" (10x15), press OK and that doesn't stay this way ! If i re-open the dialog, it is back to square 1, A4. All in all, I find printing the right size to be a perfect nightmare: either Windows 7 messes up with its assistant, or GIMP can't stick to one layout, or CANON's drivers are a mess… In the meantime, what I did is open an exported image with xnView: there the very same "layout" dialog keeps track of what I say and helps… -- Gwenouille (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Problem with windws and tools disappearing
After another uninstall, I checked the registry and nothing appears to exist with the word Gimp in it. If it still exists in my computer, it's invisible. So I tried installing Gimp again, and lo and behold, the work history is still there and everything. And again, when I click Hue/Saturation, the window for that tool is minimized and inaccessible by any means of right or left clicks. It's like Gimp is having failures of one or two different tools each time. First the Brightness/Contrast would not open, then with the new version of Gimp the main menu box would not show, now it's back to the Hue/Saturation box not coming up (minimized/inaccessible, says "This tool has no options." >I've used Gimp 2.4.2 for years now, and haven't upgraded because it >works fine. [Gimp-user] Restoring Faded Slides
Several years ago I wrote a gimp plug-in for automatically restoring images from scanned colour slides or prints that had faded or acquired a colour cast with age. Several people contacted me saying they found it useful. I have now produced a new version which I believe works better. The plug-in software and a document with technical details and examples can be downloaded from www.lionhouse.plus.com/photosoftware/restore/. The old version has been renamed Restore1 and the new version is Restore2. Although it will not be of direct interest to GIMP users there is also a stand-alone python version. -- geoff (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
