[Gimp-user] Novice seeks advice for building mockup using GIMP

2017-01-26 Thread Anthony Dunn
Hi,
I'm trying to build a mockup of a site. I used to love working with
Flash but I hear it's on its way out and I'd like to learn GIMP better. But
I don't know how to make buttons that 'take the user to another page'. I've
got to show how 5 pages link to one another, and how certain features link
to their own content.. How does one make buttons that 'change the mockup's
page'?

The project's actually really cool, I'd even say it's the coolest thing I
ever worked on. It's a 'wiki for all solutions to all problems in all
areas. -even ones that aren't geographic or political. If anyone'd like to
take a peek we've got visual and written walkthroughs posted at Lawgen.org.

Thank you for your consideration,
Anthony Brasher

[Gimp-user] printing more than 1 image per sheet

Just remembered from the dim and distant past, there can be a snag when printing
A4, especially with Windows. The image can get scaled a little. Something like
300 dpi becomes 307 dpi, not much but will shrink the images.

Then if side margins come into play, ie borderless printing not possible, an A4
sheet will not fit anyway.

The solution is make your A4 image with 2 photos from the standard template,
then crop that down to a smaller size which prints without scaling.

All sorts of ways, but start with a Standard Gimp A4 template which is already
set up as 300 ppi suitable for printing. You will only get 2 photos per sheet.

Then it can be as simple as scaling your photographs to 1200 x 1800 pixels (4" x
6" @ 300 ppi) if not already that size and copy / paste into the A4 template.

I prefer something a little more advanced, using layer masks.

A how-to video here https://youtu.be/t6vQ0GdTF6c

And the A4 2 photo template attached. A Gimp .xcfgz opens straight up in Gimp

[Gimp-user] Need to have layer opacity control during perspective adjustment

2017-01-26 Thread THX1138
I would like to overlay one image on top of another fairly precisely and to do
this I need them to both be visible via the layer opacity function and use the
perspective tool at the same time. When I activate the perspective tool, the
opacity function is suspended but that means I don't know how to stretch the
layer to make them match.

Re: [Gimp-user] Novice seeks advice for building mockup using GIMP

2017-01-26 Thread Mark Morin
The graphic of a button, in itself, doesn't "do" anything on a web page.
You have to create the graphic, import it into the web page, and then
format it to do what you want. The specifics of how to format it are
going to vary depending on how you are building your site (writing the
code directly, using a web page creator, or something like joomla! or
wordpress).

Re: [Gimp-user] Need to have layer opacity control during perspective adjustment

2017-01-26 Thread Pat David
You need to turn off the visibility of the top layer (assuming it's the one
you are using the perspective tool on), and then you need to check "Show
Image Preview" in the Tool Options, and set a non-zero opacity:

Re: [Gimp-user] printing more than 1 image per sheet

2017-01-26 Thread Rick Strong
If you don't mind using another (free) program, you should check out
Scribus, an open source layout program.

On an A4 sheet, depending on your margins, you can actually put three 6" x
4" photos; 1 horizontal and 2 vertical side-by-side.
