Re: [Goanet] How AirAsia's CEO Tony Fernandes speads his wings - source :goanvoice.org.uk
Its a good story. Sometime back you had sent me a smaller story. He now seems to be a partner with Laximi Mital a steel giant. something nice to know. I have read a lot on great people who made great fortunes and all that comes in form of good Idea. Develope this idea and you get what you expect from life. menino Original message From:Camillo Fernandes camillofernan...@hotmail.com Date: 20 Feb 12 12:51:16Subject: How AirAsia's CEO Tony Fernandes speads his wings source :goanvoice.org.ukTo: How AirAsia's CEO Spreads His Wings Tony Fernandes says he is living a boy's own dream. Last summer, the Malaysianborn entrepreneur was running Asia's biggest budget airline, a Formula 1 team and a global hotel chain. Clearly, this wasn't demanding enough, because in August the selfconfessed sports fan paid around £35 million ($55.4 million) for a majority stake in English Premier League soccer team Queens Park Rangers. Enlarge ImageFor a shy boy who, at the age of 12, was dispatch ed on his own from Malaysia to a private school in England, Mr. Fernandes has come a long way. In 2001, he paid 25 cents for AirAsia Bhd, a Malaysian governmentowned airline. Starting with two planes and $11 million in debt, the lowfares airline has since carried some 120 million passengers from its hub in Kuala Lumpur. I bought a football club, I own a Formula 1 team. I have been in the music business and I own an airline, the former Warner Music managing director says with a laugh. It's kind of unreal. But you do make your own luck and fortune favors the brave. On any given day, Mr. Fernandes can be found fielding a request for a multimillionpound soccer player, watching his F1 team Caterham at a racing grand prix, or buying a fleet of planes for AirAsia. When we meet at his town house in central London, Mr. Fernandes is all smiles, swiftly brushing off the suggestion that he is spreading himself too thinly. Joined by Philip Beard, the man he appointed as chief executi ve of QPR, he studies new stadium plans for the club in West London. At the same time, Mr. Fernandes scans the price of oil on his iPad, fires out messages to his 168,000 Twitter followers and explains why attending the exclusive Epsom College as a boy was such a tremendous experience. What did I take away from it? A challenge—that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. That nothing comes easy in life [and the importance of] teamwork. The best part of school in England was that it exposed you to lots of everything—different experiences. It brought your personality out. Not that life in 1970s Britain was idyllic. Irked at not being invited to the house of a friend's friend, he discovered it was because it was feared he wouldn't be capable of using a knife and fork. He thought we lived in a treehouse, he says. This was 1977 and no one knew [of] Malaysia, though he stresses such gaucherie was the exception, not the rule. A decade ago, discontented at th e direction the music business was taking, the father of two resigned from his wellpaid executive job, remortgaged his house for $500,000 and took on the notinconsiderable risk of buying up a failing air carrier. I went to my boss [at Warner Music] and quit. He was thrilled, because he always wanted to get rid of me... because he thought I was after his job. Which I was! And I walked out not knowing what the hell I was going to do. Mr. Fernandes, a graduate of the London School of Economics, had been inspired to run his own airline by a visit to Luton Airport, some 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of London, where, by the beginning of the past decade, lowcost European air carriers were in the ascendant. I saw Stelios [HajiIoannou] on TV talking about [his British lowcost airline] EasyJet. So I went to Luton and I saw people flying to Barcelona for £6 and Paris for £9. Everything was orange. I thought: 'This is great!' He credits his mother, Ena, with teaching him the art of selling and introducing him to the romance of flying. A frequent flier, she would be met on her return by fiveyearold Tony and his father, a doctor. My love for planes started there, he says. Me and my dad would go to the airport really early. We were early planespotters. Decades later, Mr. Fernandes and his business partner Kamarudin Meranun founded Tune Air Sdn. Bhd., inking the deal for AirAsia within weeks of 9/11, an event that led to the collapse of several major airlines. It was a terrific risk. There is a very fine line between brilliance and stupidity, Mr. Fernandes concedes. 'You idiot, you gave such a great job away to start an airline.' If it failed a lot of people would have said that, right? But I [had] reached a point and maybe Epsom taught me that you only live once. And if you don't try, you don't know. The airline was an immediate hit with passengers and, in 2004, it became a publicly listed company after a Malaysian initial public offering. Bet ween 2007 and 2011 it
[Goanet] Congress Vision for elimination of Goans by 2017
Just a day after Goans were privileged to read the 'Bhikari Goa' manifesto of BJP, we have the 'Zhopadpat'ti Goa' envisioned by the Congress Party. One is promising to scrap house tax and regularise encroachers while the other will give free electricity and water to zhopadpat'tis that are sprawled across the length and breadth of Goa. Again the issue of mining has been cleverly skirted with promises of ore corridors and the rest. Again like the (Bharat Jalao) BJP this is nothing but a real estate promotion manifesto by Mango (Aam) Congress. The lies of the BJP and the Congress get substantiated by each others manifestos. BJP has been silent on Mopa airport while Congress has boldly proclaimed to construct the airport. Both the parties want 4-lane and 6-lane to fund their party coffers. None of the parties want to talk about how they are going to raise the money to fund their ambitious claims that will benefit the migrants, not goans. It looks as if the Congress manifesto w as drafted by some research wing of the Goa University where anything and everything under the sky is promised. Problem is whether Goa has the carrying capacity to house the design institutes and prostitutes to be introduced by the BJP and Congress in Goa. The existing health centres are in a mess but Congress is now promising medical tourism and heli-tourism to send all Goans to hell. Both these political parties need to be shunted out of Goa. They have caused nothing but sewerage, garbage and hatred. -Soter --- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---

Well said George. I agree and concur fully with all that you say re election manifesto. It is very important to have a Manifesto with Ideals not Bribes! I must add that M Parrikar is known to be a sham. The main thing that Voters more so in the Panjim electorate should consider, is the fascist Saffron Communal Philosophy and Actions of the BJP party to which Manohar belongs and his khaki pants RSS who are Ghandi Killers. They could kill .any good moderate people who do not suport their Evil Cause! On MOI, see how M Parrikar and his swastika Fascist party tries to confuse the electorate; by mentioning mother tongue, instead of The Right of Parents to send their Children to Language Medium Schools of their Choice. These idiots are telling the Enlightened people what they should learn and when! Dictatorship of Language and the saffron brigade avowed goal of BJP, RSS etc. of keeping everyone, LOW For Ever, Casteism and Racism indeed. Is this what Panjimites want? NO NO NO! Then shove M Parrikar and his Foul Philosophy down the St. Inez Nullah, NOW! Why does the BJP manifesto not declare: An end to Casteism, An End to Racism; an End to Communalism; an End to Fascism from their ugly saffron groups. an End to dadagiri from them from the Hindutva Mob?? And a Ban on 'Cow Slaughter Bans' everywhere? Freedom of Culture for all Indians. No imposition of primitive culture on enlightened Indians! That above alone can be a Progressive Manifesto! [Goanet] The Gospel provides powerful hope for India's temple prostitutes | The CSF
My dear Jose, ** ** At the outset I appreciate the polite tone in your post. May I also state that I do not seek your agreement to what I write nor do I lose my sleep if you disagree. Whenever I come across wrong, incorrect or misleading reporting /information, I try to place on record to the best of my ability the correct information backed by solid evidence, wherever possible. Whether that person accepts it or not is beyond my control. After all, one can take a horse to the water but one cannot make it drink. ** ** Now before I proceed to answer your questions, permit me to reciprocate by posing a few questions to you. The debate on this thread started with Santosh Helekar making the following provocative, false, misleading, malicious and mischievous statements about the contents of the post and the CSF: ** ** a) It is a Catholic propaganda outfit as much as the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is a Hindu propaganda outfit. b) it would want to point out the flaws in the Hindu religion, and offer the Christian gospel as the answer. c) Sandesh is understandably offended by the anti-Hindu propaganda of CSF. d) he is lashing out against the CSF in response ** ** May I suggest that you examine your conscience and answer the following questions: ** ** **1. **Was Santosh right and justified in equating the CSF with the HJS, an organisation with a violent past and history? **2. ** Did the said post of CSF point out flaws in the hindu religion? **3. ** Was there was anti-hindu propaganda in the post? **4. **Was Sandesh lashing out at the CSF or at the Church? **5. **Did Santosh adduce any evidence to support his statements.? *** * If your answer to any of the above is no, did you think it proper to correct this malicious misinformation, communalisation of an innocuous report and smearing of an organisation? **6. **In the past we have seen the smearing of Fr Cedric Prakash, Dr Manmohan Singh, Dr John Dayal and others. Do you agree with the smearing? If not, did you think it fit to speak out? **7. **Do you believe that the demonising and smearing of individuals and organisations without adducing any evidence is healthy and proper and conducive to communal harmony? If not, what action have you taken to counter such propaganda? ** ** Incidentally, for your kind information kindly note that I am not a member of the CSF or any political organisation. And let me also kindly assure you that the CSF is taken seriously by people and organisations which matter and count. [Goanet] CONVERSIONS, INCITING SECTARIAN HATRED, AND MARGINALISATION
I have to yet again correct the false and misleading misinformation/ disinformation spread by Santosh. First of all. knowledge and information is not the exclusive preserve of politicians as a person who claims to possess scientific temper ought to know. Secondly, Faleiro wasn’t referring to recent times. He was only restating what he had said in another article in 2008. I quote him: ** ** Quote: ‘I spent the month of September 2004 in the villages of Orissa, in the districts of Kandhamal and Mayurbhanj where Rev. Graham Staines and his two sons were killed some years ago. The purpose was to study and understand the open confrontation which has existed for long in that State between Christian and Hindu missionaries for conversion and reconversion (ghar wapsi). Mainline Christian theologians see both the Sangh Parivar’s Hindutva ideology and Christian campaigns for evangelisation of India as having a fundamentalist attitude and aggressive methodology to achieve their respective goals. An agreement on the lines described in the aforesaid document among the leaders of all the major religious denominations in India is the need of the hour.’ Unquote http://www.mainstreamweekly.net/article993.html ** ** Further, Faleiro was not and could not have been referring to the recent incidents in Kashmir as he was merely restating what he said 4 years ago with specific reference to Orissa. ** ** On Kashmir, the recent conflict over conversions has local connotations and is being exploited by vested interests. Very often politicians and local big-wigs desire some favour from Christian-run schools or institutions, and when they do not get it, the bogey of conversions is thrown at them and used as a red herring. Refer to this report: http://www.asianews.it/news-en/Kashmir,-false-accusations-of-forced-conversion-against-a-Protestant-pastor-23072.html ** ** http://www.indianexpress.com/news/christians-slam-kashmir-shariah-courts-verdict-on-conversion/899415/0 ** ** http://m.firstpost.com/breaking-views/conversionskashmir-butareliberals-now-190671.html?page=1 ** ** Interestingly, Syed Ali Shah Geelani the hardliner Hurriyat Conference chairman has come out openly in support of the missionaries and decried the actions of Islamic organisations. Refer- ** ** http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/syed-ali-shah-geelani-bats-for-pastors-kashmir-conversions/1/171050.html ** ** ** ** I must thank Santosh for providing weblinks to the two articles on the North East. These articles merely trace the growth of Christianity in the North East. Nowhere does it talk of religious conflict. The articles are well written and balanced. I would recommend them to all to read and understand about the North East The articles only support and reinforce what I have been saying. ** ** Quote: ‘Mizoram is practically free from the menace of insurgency. Similar is the case of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Therefore, the apprehension of the dismemberment of Northeast from India through the so called co-ordinated challenge to the Indian core is far from the ground reality. Only some misguided sections in Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura and Assam are working for India's inimical neighbours and anti-Indian forces only for their self-serving interest. They need to be handled with a strong political will as the rise of a sovereign state depends upon the integration of its diverse regions under a centripetal pull. Once the forces of disintegration are allowed to grow it will be the beginning of its decline.’ ***http://www.southasiaanalysis.org/papers17/paper1700.html* ** ** Now, I wonder what motivates Santosh to mislead and mispresent facts and obfuscate issues. ** ** Regards, ** ** Marshall ** ** ** ** *A former Congress Union Minister like Mr. Eduardo Faleiro who serves all people of India rather than the parochial interests of just one community or one religio-political point of view knows his facts about India much better than some random Goanetter who claims to know the facts. He was talking about recent times, not ancient history, in Kashmir and the tribal regions of India where religion and religious conversions and re-conversions have increasingly become one of the major factors contributing to conflict. Here are the facts described in articles related to this issue and the broader issue of the religious problem in Kashmir: http://kashmirwatch.com/opinions.php/2011/12/28/discovering-the-reasons-of-conve\ rsions-in-kashmir.htmlhttp://kashmirwatch.com/opinions.php/2011/12/28/discovering-the-reasons-of-conversions-in-kashmir.html http://www.kashmirdispatch.com/headlines/28017864-kashmir-over-2-converted-t\ o-christianity-since-1990.htmhttp://www.kashmirdispatch.com/headlines/28017864-kashmir-over-2-converted-to-christianity-since-1990.htm http://thevoxkashmir.in/2011/12/rethinking-religious-conversions-in-kashmir-2/ Here is a related news

Re: [Goanet] CONVERSIONS, INCITING SECTARIAN HATRED, AND MARGINALISATION
My contention, like that of Mr. Eduardo Faleiro, was that one of the major reasons for conflicts in Kashmir and the tribal areas of India, such as Orissa and the North East in recent times was religious differences and religious conversions and reconversions. It should be obvious to most unbiased and reasonable people in this forum that the articles and news reports that I have provided prove my contention, and refute the claims or implications of Marshall and others that religious conversions are not taking place in these parts, and that they and the ensuing religious differences are not a major cause of the conflicts. I am happy that despite his continuing defiance and denials, Marshall himself has provided further evidence for my above contention in the form of three additional news reports in his post appended below, which demonstrate accusations and counter-accusations from religious personalities regarding conversions in Kashmir. However, I would like to provide the following corrections to some of the misstatements that Marshall has made: CORRECTION 1 - Mr. Faleiro was indeed talking about recent conversions in Kashmir, in addition to recent conversions in Orissa. Here is the pertinent quote from his Goanet Reader article: QUOTE During a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, I came across the following case. In April, 2003 the parish priest of a church in Srinagar complained to the Bishop about the proselytizing activities of a foreign missionary. He alleged that the missionary had converted about 200 Muslims, started two schools and a boarding where children of age 5 to 15 years, boys as well as girls, cohabited and were freely educated and fed by the missionary and that the latter was in the process of forming an unauthorized religious congregation with young girls including two Muslim girls. UNQUOTE ...Eduardo Faleiro Please see: http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2012-February/218697.html I concede however that this case is different from the additional case reported last November. CORRECTION 2 - The balanced articles on the North East that I have provided indeed talk about the conflicts that have arisen due to religious conversions on a massive scale, such as secessionist movements against India and alienation of the hill tribes from their indigenous culture and their neighbors in the plains. For example here are pertinent quotes from the first article: QUOTE On the negative side was the excommunication of unfaithful who broke the Sabbath and participated in traditional singing of folk songs. Christianity widened the barrier and the conflict between the hills and the plains. Professor WC Smith of the University of South California has drawn attention to the ill effects of the way in which Christianity was presented to the tribes: “ There is a grave danger that Christianity as presented to the people (Nagas), comes to be little more than the adoption of another set of taboos, and taboo is no new element in the life of any group on a low cultural level. Under the old system the Nagas had to refrain from working on the fields on certain days, lest their God Lizaba curse the village with an epidemic or blight the rice crop; now they must refrain from work on the Christian Sabbath, lest Jehovah, the God of Israel smite them for their wickedness.”19 UNQUOTE QUOTE There are intelligence reports with the government that establishes the link between specified missionary groups and secessionists groups in Nagaland and Manipur. Specific information points to their association with insurgent groups like the Naga National Council (A) led by Adino Phizo, daughter of AZ Phizo, and the NSCN (IM).24 In Mizoram the role of the Church is overtly political. In 1988 two separate incidents involving Fathers of the Dengtol Mission and the Sarabil Centre pointed to their association with the Bodo activists.25 In 1992, two British nationals were caught; they had been advocating separate Naga country through a Naga Vigil Organisation and had been receiving active support from the insurgent Naga National Council (A).26 UNQUOTE Please see: http://www.indiandefencereview.com/homeland-security/NE-Insurgency-The-Religious-Dimension.html Please note that the title of this article itself is NE Insurgency: The Religious Dimension. This and above facts clearly show that the following claim of Marshall is a falsehood: QUOTE These articles merely trace the growth of Christianity in the North East. Nowhere does it talk of religious conflict. UNQUOTE ..Marshall Mendonza By the way, I don't know what Marshall's understanding of the meaning of the term recent times is. As usual the government, we are compeled to call ours, blundered, as they unfailingly do. The most proper thing to do in the drastic circumstance which were, in a large measure, by commission or omission of their own contrivance, is a three-day period of statewide mourning. They should be made to pay dearly for their total lack of heeding the vital needs of the populace, most glaringly, the various traffic debacle getting more and more alarming by the passing, at the ongoing hustings... Marshall Mendonza 'inter alia' wrote: I do not seek your agreement to what I write nor do I lose my sleep if you disagree. Whenever I come across wrong, incorrect or misleading reporting /information, I try to place on record to the best of my ability the correct information backed by solid evidence, wherever possible My dear Marshall, Thank you for the courtesy of your post. Let us try disabuse ourselves of the notions that: a: Our posts are taken seriously by the decision makers of this world. As far as I am concerned, I write as a form of therapy. I find it 'cheaper' to write than to have a quart of Caju Feni (Yuck!). Like your note suggests about yourself, I too, do not seek the agreement of anyone else. I am aware that if I am unfair or wrong, I will be told so. If the correction is reasonable, I will accept it and move. b: Any of us actually lose sleep (unless we drink too much coffee) because others disagree with our views. I suggest that we would do well to 'weigh all the sides of the situation' and then come up with a reasonable position - surely, coloured by our own partisan views. As an upfront statement - in terms of full disclosure - I will state the following: 1: I find it deplorable that the postings of intelligent individuals like Sandeep Heble and Marshall Mendonza as partisan as they are, and (hence) unreasonable. I invite you read the positions of individuals like George Pinto and Santosh Helekar and judge for yourself - WHETHER, on balance, they are reasonable or unreasonable. 2: I have NO voting rights in Goa. I have never registered (and will not register) to vote in any country. I do not trust politrics or the players who specialise in that 'art form'. 3: However, albeit from the quiet refuge of my tiny study, I read more than one subject which ends with 'trics'. 4: As far as I am concerned, I absolutely hate what has been done to my Goa and my Goan brothers and sisters since 1961. And while the BJP can criticise the Congress (rightfully so), it must also look at the severe harm it (and its partner the MGP) did during their respective stints. My private feelings of the harm that has befallen Goa are identical to those of Rajan Parrikar. Like him, I say NO THANK YOU to the colleagues of my friend Gerald Fernandes [among other things see this: http://www.colaco.net/1/Anjadiva.htm or speak to Godfrey Gonsalves]. 5: I have read (while on the toilet) the H2S produced by both the BJP and the Congress in the form of manifestos. I do not believe that they THINK that Goans are idiots, They feel that KNOW that Goans are idiots. For, if there were/are non-idiots among Goans, the BJP Congress surely feel, that those Goans would have asked them some questions - about their MGP/BJP/Congress record ...before ROFLOL. 6: Like Anand Virgincar, Anil Desai and Rajan Parrikar, I too believe that Mr. Manohar Parrikar is the best administrator for Goa. Please note that ALL three gentlemen (Anand, Anil Rajan) are very intelligent and accomplished individuals. I am sure it pains them too, to see what has befallen Goa. That is why, I believe, that they are hoping that Manohar Parrikar will bring some respite. Unfortunately for us, Manohar Parrikar is tied to the central BJP which is tied to the Rt Hindu Organisations which are known for their own form of moral policing. This is one of my lesser worries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7yg-bdlmko 7: The Medium of Instruction issue, in the BJP version of H2S - a resurrection from the dark days of Tai .is one FIRM reason I would (if I could) NEVER vote for the Goa BJP. And Mr. Manohar Parrikar, my brother Good Luck with Slick Willy Mesquita. I hope you have heard about Jumping Jacks NOW: I asked you some questions. I did not see the answers to those questions. But then, you placed questions of your own. I will not stick to the point You first, As I asked you first', but I will comment on one of your questions. Perhaps then, we can take a few questions at a time. Marshall Mendonza ASKED: 6. In the past we have seen the smearing of Fr Cedric Prakash, Dr Manmohan Singh, Dr John Dayal and others. Do you agree with the smearing? If not, did you think it fit to speak out? jc's RESPONSE: While I wait for you provide me evidence that the above were smeared, I will advise you that I have personally written to both Fr. Cedric Prakash and Dr. John Dayal criticising them as being 'unreasonable' and unChristian in the bias of their words. BTW: I also asked them as I have asked you: What have you spoken/written about the child abuse crisis? http://www.colaco.net/3/church-lurch.htm Was that NOT the most virulent force which destroyed a significant portion of the good that the Church had done? Have you, Fr Prakash or Dr. Dayal written, held marches, protested .circulated newsletters . expressing your disgust at the silence maintained by the hierarchy - daft and harmful to the Church as it was, let alone

TEAM HERALD teamher...@herald-goa.com PANJIM: 2012 Assembly election is likely to be the most interesting with ample heavy weights, comprising six chief ministers and 48 sitting and ex-MLAs in the fray. The chief ministers include Pratapsing Rane, Churchill Alemao, Manohar Parrikar, Dr Wilfred D’Souza and Ravi Naik are in the contest, whereas incumbent Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will try to prove his mettle by ensuring that Congress-led alliance wins majority seats. goablog.org Among the 48 sitting and ex-MLAs in the ring all across the state, in Saligao, it’s Parulekar versus Parulekar, whereas four sitting MLAs have jumped out of the race for various reasons. http://www.indiatvnews.com/news/India/Congress_Releases_Goa_Manifesto-14423.html Vijay Pai Khot who was denied a Congress ticket after he quit as an BJP MLA last week, is not contesting. Industrialist and Savordem MLA Anil Salgaocar has also opted out of the race and his son Arjun Salgaocar is contesting as an independent. Sanguem MLA Vasudev Gaonkar is not contesting on being denied a ticket by the party. Victoria Fernandes is also out of the race since Congress Party has given ticket to Taleigao MLA Atanasio Babush Monserrate to contest from St Cruz constituency. Whereas in some constituencies the fight is between novice candidates, in Benaulim, the real fight will be between Congress’ Valanka Alemao and Caitan D’Silva of Goa Vikas Party. There are total seven candidates in the fray in Benualim. John Fernandes, who had contested against Francisco Xavier (Mickky) Pacheco in 2007 is also contesting Benualim seat. In Porvorim constituency, too the fight will be between fresh faces with no seating MLA or ex-MLA contesting in this constituency. The manifesto was released by All India Congress Committee general secretary Oscar Fernandes in presence of national and state leaders. Congress has also assured to solve the problem of housing by providing 5,000 flats and row houses through the Housing Board Corporation in the next five years. “A committee of agricultural experts to survey fallow paddy fields and suggest an action plan to make it cultivable would be formed,” the manifesto said, adding that fast track courts would be set up to solve land related disputes. The Congress has also promised a slum free Goa through rehabilitation of existing slum dwellers. The party has assured to increase the ceiling of mediclaim scheme from Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs seven lakh covering all illness of the people of Goa. Bhakti fell ill in the beginning as it was minus 25 degree Celsius outside and she was certain that her dream of bagging a prize in Moscow would be a distant dream. However she pulled together all her energy and won the last 3 rounds to finish 25th in the tournament. Re: [Goanet] The CSF
In this new thread that Marshall has initiated I would like to find out if he is capable of carrying on a rational discussion without showering insults on the person with whom he disagrees, and who does not belong to his religion and/or his religio-political worldview. He has already made a horrible beginning in this respect, but I am willing to give him another chance. I would therefore like to point out a logical fallacy in his claims below. He claims that the right-wing religious organization Catholic-Christian Secular Forum is not engaged in politics in support of the Congress, merely because it speaks out against Anna Hazare and the BJP. This might be true, even if one finds out that this religious organization is distributing pamphlets describing Rahul Gandhi's campaign in Uttar Pradesh, or even if one reads quotes like the following in the news media: QUOTE Catholic Secular Forum general secretary Joseph Dias said Hazare must clarify allegations that he backed Hindutva and questioned his decision to protest outside Sonia and Rahul’s houses. “The Congress alone cannot be blamed for corruption. Why doesn’t Anna speak out against Narendra Modi, B S Yeddyurappa, the BJP...? He has not demonstrated against attacks on minorities,” said Dias. UNQUOTE Please see http://www.indianexpress.com/news/Minority-groups-question-secular-credentials/892781/ I am willing to grant that the CSF happens to just like Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, but otherwise is a political supporter of the Communist party or the Marxists or the Maoists. I can understand the logic that Marshall applies here. But what I don't understand is why then does he not apply even half of this logic when he insinuates that any non-Christian who disagrees with his religio-political views and provides evidence against them, is a supporter or sympathizer of the Sangh Parivar, or worse a defender/justifier of rapes and killings of Christians? Why are all non-Christians who disapprove of the religio-political activism of Marshall Mendonza automatically supporters of Hindu extremists? Cheers, Santosh P.S. BTW, Soter was a BJP supporter in the past. Now he appears to be a Congress supporter, or a supporter of a party that supports the Congress rather than the BJP. [Goanet] We do no want Israel village or Russian village in Goa
WE DO NOT WANT ISRAEL VILLAGE OR RUSSIAN VILLAGE IN GOA-Shantaram Naik Mr Shantaram Naik M.P. and Secretary AICC said that Goa’s precious lands needs to be protected, and that, we cannot allow any Goan village to be called Israel Village or Russian Village. Mr Naik who was addressing a meeting of National Students Union Of India’s Goa unit in Panaji on Tuesday said that Russians and Israelis have occupied certain villages in a manner which cannot be called ideal tourism, and that, they indulge in business activities in violation of the laws of the land, including Foregn Exchange Management Act. Mr Naik said to protect Goa’s land, a constitutional amendment would be required, and therefore, all sections of the society have to co-operate in this endevour. Mr Naik said Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 is the basic law which deals with corruption and it was enacted during Rajiv Gandhi’s Prime ministership. And, when the Lokpal will be constituted in the country, the Lokpal will use the law enacted by Rajiv Gandhi, which law, is in force in the country for the last 20 years. Lokpal Bill per se does not contain any provision dealing with corruption, the bill has a provision only to create an independent authority, he said. Under the prevention of Corruption Act a number of people including those belonging to Congress have gone to jail and, it is one of the most effective instrument to deal with corruption, he said. Mr Naik said free economic policy of Congress announced in 1991 was, apart from liberalizing economic activity in the country, was a step towards anti-corruption as under the policy, Licence Raj was ended in order to stop the harassment of the people. Mr Girish Chodankar, AICC NSUI in charge said that the Congress manifesto provides for a number of benefits to the students. Mr Chodankar said that the e-budgeting of University budget will stop diversion of funds in educational institutions and will curb corruption. He appealed to the students to monitor the budget of the institutions where they study, so that they are not deprived of basic facilities. Shri Naguesh Sardesai appealed to the students to make use of Central Government Schemes. Re: [Goanet] DOCUMENT: Goa elections 2012, manifesto Congress Party
Dear Tony, Let me try If I understand you right, you're asking for a Goan Governor in Goa... * The Governor is a figurehead. * Politicians and legislators (whose main job is meant to be the framing of apt laws for us all) are the ones which control the decision-making process, even though this should have been regulated by the bureaucracy and executive. * Besides the above, there is a permanent government in place, that continues ruling regardless which party is in place. * India's federal structure is based on a strange balance of powers between State and Centre. Which is why the A.L. Diases and the Gen. Sunith F Rodrigueses will become Governors of West Bengal or Punjab, while the S.K. Bannerjees or Gopal Singhs will be sent to Goa. Does that remind you of the British exiling the rulers of Burma to Ratnagiri, and the Bahadur Shah Zafars to Rangoon? Anyway, these guys can control things mainly when the locals don't -- for instance when it comes to forming a new government after a hung assembly is thrown up. (March 3, let's see.) In my view, the more powerful Lt. Governor of the pre-1987 days, together with the more dominated-by-Delhi administration then, helped to keep our own crooks and contradictions more in control than we managed after Statehood. So let's not go by ethnicity alone, please! [Goanet] [JudeSundayReflections] 1st Sunday of Lent
21-Feb-2012 Dear Friend, No one likes to be tested, whether it be children in school, college students who have to undergo entrance tests, or workers whose work will be evaluated to decide on their future prospects. Yet when it comes to purchasing something costly or trying out something new, we want to test its worth before investing in anything that is not free. Athletes will readily admit that they know their true potential only when tested. We are now faced with Lent - a testing time! May we come out victorious with God's help! Fr. Jude Sunday Reflections: First Sunday of Lent His Word our hope amidst temptation always! 26-Feb-2012 Readings: Genesis 9: 8-151 Peter 3: 18-22Mark 1: 12-15 The first reading from Genesis reminds us that Noah alone was spared during the flood. God made a promise, a covenant that man would not be destroyed by the floodwaters and the sign of his covenant was the rainbow. God is faithful to his promise and each time we see a rainbow, it should remind us of a God who is faithful to His promise. All kinds of situations test us and there are times we will falter and fail, we will be unfaithful to our God, but God will not destroy us, He is faithful to his promise, He will save us. The Real Temptation The popular picture we have of Mother Teresa is either carrying a tiny undernourished child or applying medicines on the wounds of a leper. We have identified her with social works. One day, when Mother Teresa was talking to Father Le Joly, a Jesuit priest, who had written few books on Mother and her congregation, she said to him, Father, when you write a book about me, tell everybody we are not here for work, we are here for Jesus. We are religious, not social workers, or nurses, or teachers; we are religious Sisters. All we do, our prayer, our work, our suffering, is for Jesus. Without Jesus our life would be meaningless... Incomprehensible... John Rose in 'John's Sunday Homilies' The Gospel reminded us that the Spirit led Jesus to be tempted and he was in the desert amidst wild beasts but at the same time angels were ministering unto him. All through our life we are tempted and that in itself is not a bad thing. It is how we deal with temptations that really matters. We are tempted to compromise on values, to go by the popular majority, to do the easy or more convenient thing rather than what is right and proper. While we may be surrounded by evil forces we are also supported by God's help. The wild beasts and the angels will always be there in the desert experience. We too have to go through periodic training periods of discipline and testing called Lent. We too have to be ready to do battle with Satan and evil in this world. We consider it criminal if a soldier is sent to war without basic training, or to send a doctor into an operating theatre without adequate schooling and internship. Yet we casually assume that we can fight evil in us and around us without taking Lent seriously. Opting for God When I was a young boy, Anthony Eden was reputed to be every woman's fancy. According to many of the pub's customers, his handsome looks created many interesting and tempting situations for him. One small little man, Johnny, was sitting on a high stool listening pensively to stories of Eden's supposed prowess. Johnny himself was somewhat less than handsome. His comment was cryptic. 'Thank God, I was not born good looking.' His limited attractiveness relieved him of some temptations, he felt. However, I am sure that Johnny still had his own temptations as we all have. Even Christ was tempted as we hear in today's gospel. For him, the temptation was to selfishness and self-centredness, to accept security and fame for himself. His response was to reject these passing joys and opt for the Fathers' will which led to the cross before the glory of the resurrection. Lent is an opportunity to ask God to open our eyes to our smugness and to fill our hearts with courageous generosity towards our brothers and sisters everywhere. Tom Clancy in 'Living the Word' Spiritual Boot Camp In the movie 'An Officer and a Gentleman’, we are taken inside a boot camp, where candidates are trained to be naval flight officers. Actor Richard Gere plays the lead role of a candidate, who is so intent on being a flight officer that he endures, every test and challenge his tough drill sergeant, played by Lou Gossett, can throw at him. In the end Richard Gere emerges from the training grounds a changed man. Upon entering boot camp he was selfish; he cared only about his own success and comforts. Before he left he learned how to reach out and help his batch mates, he felt real pain when his close friend committed suicide, and he proved a true gentleman by marrying his girlfriend, played by Debra Winger. Lent is like a spiritual boot camp in a sense. Its theme of spiritual training is set forth in the Gospel. Internet Notes

[Goanet] BJP’s and Congress’ Manifestos are A Highway to Hell……….
BJP’s and Congress’ Manifestos are A Highway to Hell………. Congress’ manifesto needs no explanation because it is a Copy Paste from an earlier version 5 years ago. The results are very transparent – unfulfilled and treacherous. Their central leadership which assured a Special Status is apparently down with Alzheimer’s disease. The BJP’s Manifesto gave me 2 sleepless nights. So lying awake at night I wiped the sweat from my brow. But it was not the fear but the unforgiveable sins of past and horrors of the future that lie ahead with BJP’s accession. The back door entries to entities like modis, togadias, navnirman sena, RSS, ram sena, shiv sena, Advanis, gadkaris, Bajrang dal and all the other blood sucking leeches, parasites and vampires waiting to unleash their tentacles over a peaceful Goa cannot be ruled out. The failures of state administration to protect innocent people and children from getting burnt during Godhra riots, the torching of innocent young teens of missionary Graham Steines, the harassment of minorities in Karnataka and North India cannot be detached from events that have shattered the lives of minorities at the hands of these ideologically retarded fanatics. Let us take a look at some of the Salient features of the BJP manifesto and the logical interpretation (in BOLD RED) which is definitely a highway to hell for all Goans. Point 1: Rehabilitation of Slum Dwellers – Interpretation: Let us not forget Parrikar’s assurance to settle the issue of regularising the houses at Indira Nagar in Chimbel in July 2011. Immediately after his statements every forum and newspaper was populated classifying his comments as cheap, disgraceful and a mind of frustration of a desperate and disillusioned CM-in-waiting. Our Conclusion: Smacks of Pimp’s Spirit. Goan land to be gifted free of cost to vote banks. Grab the Goan land, displace genuine Goans and Niz Goenkars, intimidate them, threaten them, drag them at midnight to police stations (just like a former freedom fighter had to face the wrath of BJP Governance at midnight) etc.. etc… Go to Hell.. you Goans. Point 2. DSSS PENSION to be increased to Rs 2000: Interpretation: Use Goan taxpayers money. Take from one and give to the undeserving. Statistics have revealed that many beneficiaries are fake including observations from some of BJP leaders. There is no mechanism to make this transparent and make the names public of the actual beneficiaries. Can BJP/ Parrikar recover the dues from the fake ones. First stop doles to RSS backed beneficiaries and free dole fighters and Free-Dumb-Phighters. Point 3: Dedicated mining corridors within 30 months. Interpretation: This is not an easy task and there is no sustainable solution without an EIA. Consultants will make merry from the fees paid just like the Harbour Sea Link proposed through alternate routes. Parrikar is a good at trouble shooter. Guess who did the trouble shooting when Satish Rivonkar was sacrificed at the mining alter to fuel the greed of the mining industry. Moreover Sesa Goa has graciously donated towards BJP party funds. The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) recommended prosecution against the Sesa Goa's for violations under the Companies Act, 1956 on nine grounds, including over and under-invoicing of export/import of over Rs. 1,000 crore. SFIO has uncovered over-invoiced import receipts of coking coal by Rs. 14.6 crore and also sale of iron-ore by Rs. 42.51 crore, while under-invoicing exports by Rs. 1,002 crore. Parrikar stop fooling Goans. Does Parrikar have the guts and will to prosecute the ones involved in illegal mining first and recover the dues for all the illegal exports. Can he make them contribute towards the environmental degradation. Can he investigate and prosecute his former commorades including Digambar Kamat based on the Shah Commission Reports? Goans Don’t expect this. Goan mining wealth will be concentrated only in the hands of few. .. The rest of Goa and Goans can GTH….. Point 4: HOUSEWIVES: will be given an allowance of Rs 1000 per month to fight price rise. Interpretation: Expect high inflation and cost of living under BJP. Remember how cooking gas cylinder prices sky rocketed under Vajpayee's leadership. Recollect the UTI scams etc etc. Morover allowances can be controlled by the Yuva and Seva Mandals and will be a monopoly. Opposition constituencies have a clear message. Beggars can’t be choosers. Are genuine Goans expected to beg for peanuts…. Point 5: PETROL PRICES: will be reduced by Rs 11. Interpretation: Illogical and irrational mind. Who will fund the deficit – the Goan taxpayers? Petrol is not produced or refined in Goa. IIT educated engineers understand this logic. Point 6: GARBAGE PROBLEM: Interpretation: Unresolved by BJP from 2000 till 2005 and aggravated by Congress The Manifesto Hides 2 Key issues, one is MoI which has the careers and future of children at

[Goanet] Who is this Manohar Parrikar? How very Nice?
Hello Goans and all Indians, Manohar Parrikar is the current leader of the opposition in the Goa State Assembly. But is he a good 'non communal' person? NO. NO NO! Because he is aligned with the communal forces of Evil and has a 'shrewd anti minority mentality' hiding under his cloak of seemingly good! Hah Ha! His party in opposition, is there 'only to oppose everything' that comes from the governing party; and to opppose everything that is 'non communal'. This party, the BJP is the Saffron Communal Fascist Party of all India noteriety! In all the BJP ruled States, there is no end to the suffering and misery heaped on the minorities, and this will only go on increasing with time, unless the electorate throws them out into the 'Rubbish Bin' where they all belong. Their thrust is Anti Minorities, and aim to devide and destabilise society in India, and once in Power at the Centre on their own strength, they will tear up the Constitution of India, and declare Hindutva Swaraj and all others be damned. The BJP has all sorts of 'side kick' parties/ groups under various disguises and names. These groups cause communal tensions and mayhem by their unholy tactics in the name of Caste and Hindutva, that is different from the age old simple Hindu religion by assimilation. Am I right? The BJP the parent party, NEVER disciplines these other groups and in fact encourages these to take the Law into their own hands, with their unholy silence! Manohar is also a member of The RSS' the khaki shorts militant wing and 'mentor' of the BJP. Am I right, so far? If not you may correct me. These saffron groups take delight in the misery heaped on minorities, in Babri incident, Ghodra, Khandamal, Magalore, etc and not once have any of their leaders ordered or asked their goons to STOP What They are Doing! Have they? NO NO NO.Why? Is it not their way? Of course it is. They even do not deny it! Instead they are ready with all sorts of defensive utterings. Is Manohar P. a clean non corrupt person? NO NO NO. During his breif Ch. Ministership in Goa which he got by stealth, there was 'holy lingam' placed in the Catholic Archbishop's compoud and their goons did this to have a claim on the Church. How very nice? Then there was the VCD incident when history was sort to be re written the Hndutva way. How very Nice! Good Friday as a Holiday cancellation in Goa was sought by this communal person. How very Nice! The muslim migrants taking refuge in Goa, from harrasment in neighbouring Karnataka were put into all sorts of problems. Am I right? How very nice! Most of all democracy was undermined when during a vote of no confidence in the State Assembly an independent member was by force dragged out to prevent a collapse of his government. How very Nice. During the first IFFI multi Crores Rupees were spent on upgrading of the Kala Academy. No defferences of that astronomical costs are seen, Where was this money spent? How very Nice! A month after the first IFFI, I walked the footpaths around the Kala Complex; and had a fall on the upturned tiles that were laid that clumsy way. And Manohar was given the credit of supervising the construction activity then; all those thousands of Crores Rupees was spent and the accounting shadowy? Was there a Judicial enquiry then into all this? No! How very Nice! Then Crores of Rupees were given to The Konkan Rly CEO (was this CEO another Hindutva guy?) to plan and invent the so called sky train. All this came from the poor Goan Tax payer. And where is it now. Holy Smoke! Tons and tons of Steel is rotting 'high up' at the Margao Rly Station side and is a distortion for radio waves and TV. How very Nice! The all India BJP party Meet was held in Goa and the delegates were housed lavishly in five star hotels. In the end the hotel and food BILLS were not paid for, by the Party, and Parrikar helped pay from Goa Tax payers Money. Is this not so? Will he reimburse Goa from his own kitty? How very Nice! How then is Manohar Not Corrupt? He is also a Hindutva Fascist! Oh my God! Panjimites! Please Do Not Vote for this Fall Guy, Manohar Parrikar; let him loose his deposit, and thus teach him and the BJP a lesson. Then you can shove him into the St. Inez Nullah, where he has 'let breed' billions of Mosquitoes, during his reign as MLA for the Panjim seat. Ha! Ha! If Panjimites do vote for this 'unholy guy' again, then they alone will be to blame for all the communal swaraj that will follow! Voters Please Think, SEE and LOOK hard at the consequences involved, before casting your precious vote. Think of Goa 's future, with Freedom for all and Prosperity, not BJP saffron Communal future. Saffron Stnks, and so do all those wearing it! Get rid of them; if not Goans loose everything! VIVA GOA; VIVA FREEDOM for All Communities. and Power to ALL! Nascy Caldeira.
[Goanet] The respective Manifestos!
The BJP Manifest is full of BRIBES for the people, to vote for them. The people are not told that all that Bribe will eventually come from their own money, through more taxes! the Congress Manifest is full of promises and is indeed visionary, but that Goa needs Visionary and capable people to execute them. Never saffron leaders though, who talk of corruption and have to resort to Bribes in their Manifesto. What a Farce, Elections and Governing in Goa has become!
