The only reason why I'm disagreeing with you is because I consider myself a
grumpy old Goan male as well. But what to do? I was youngish when Goanet
got going, kept busy entertaining and informing people with mail (or so I
thought) to be now told by people like you that we probably keep posting
because our grandchildren don't have time for us.

I take offence to people of your age calling us uncle, it should at least
be grandpa! You might forget that while youth may be worshipped in the
West, in our parts of the planet, age is respected. Didn't someone give you
a hint about the etology of the word 'zantello'  (only used to describe a
man, mind you).

Instead of merely cursing the darkness, I personally invite you to light a
cyber candle! Don't stop RF from holding his views or gentele Con from
posting links and pointers (thank god you didn't know kind Fidibus' age or
gender). Instead do post some useful discussion of your own. Can you? Will
you? Or else this will deepen the MCP side of me which only suspects that
the man-i-pulative among the Goa-n wo-men want only to replace male power
in the name of battling for equality and gender justice.

Also: whatever makes you think that we grumpy old Goan men with internet
access are not visiting more interesting sites? I think women and children
are too.

God invented feni, and man came up with the internet. Let's raise a cheer

manipulate them, appoint cronies in the CBI and NIA and manipulate them,
control the media, you will not find corruption. Try finding allegations of
corruption  in North Korea or Russia. However if you follow the informal
media ie. by journalists not aligned with any media group you will get a

U-17 WORLD CUP TEAM TRAINS UNDER CONSTANTINE

*NEW DELHI:* The U-17 National Team presently in Goa preparing for the
 FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 trained under National Coach Stephen
Constantine in Goa today (February 20, 2017). Constantine will be working
with the boys this week till Saturday (February 25, 2017).



“We needed to ensure that till the appointment of the Head Coach of the
U-17 National Team the training session is properly coordinated. So we
asked National Coach Stephen Constantine and his team to go to Goa for a
week to assist the training of the boys,” Mr. Kushal Das, General
Secretary, AIFF stated. “We hope to appoint the new Coach as soon
as possible,” he added.



Constantine who guided India to the SAFF Suzuki Cup crown and will lead the
Senior Team in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2019 next month said he is
happy to “help AIFF in this time of need.”



“My purpose is to help them maintain the fitness levels of the boys and it
gives us a chance to work on other things as well. I will be able to have
close look them as they could be the players for the future.”



Besides Constantine, Goalkeeping Coach Rogerio Ramos, Sports Scientist
Danny Deigan and National Team Assistant Coach Shanmugam Venkatesh would
also be working with the boys.



The U-17 FIFA World Cup India 2017 kicks-off on October 6, 2017.

Hi Sridhar Iyer,

I have reported both the stories requested by you, and one more issue with
relevant photos ( i..e. Stone boulder obstructing the traffic near  Dona
Paula -Miramar road,  second the Mayor CCP supporting Gaddas on footpaths,
and third is a unsound lady sleeping on the lawn at Dona Paula circle
opposite NIO compound wall) )  in all the local newspapers but none of them
published by local papers,  except Goanet.
 Probably  all of them ( newspapers)  have ganged up against me, and do not
publish my stuff when it is of public interest? I am noticing this quite a
long time.  I believe that most of these corrupt politicians may have
instructed these papers and told them not to take it  up my issues because
it affects their capabilities and credibility..   The stories with
photographs were well taken up by me with lots of time taken  by me,  but
of no use. Even I was considered as Citizen Journalist in Herald daily but
this Editor too have betrayed me from publishing. The Editor -in -chief
Raul Fernandes is good  friend of mine,  but he too has no powers, I feel.
What is the use being social workers and activists in Goa when we do not
have support from the daily newspapers. I think we need Goa Editors in
dailies so that our Voice is heard in whole of Goa.
When it is so relevant these stories and issues we do not get publicity.
Every time I send some stuff I can never get them published even in the
Letters to the Editor column, may be rarely one is published after long
time.   They could even contact me or edit the stuff as per their choice
but they do not do it.
Do you think that the politicians have pressurized them or bought them?
You being an outsider and having good contact with newspapers and also
writes sometimes, and you still working in NIO and  in good position as Dy
Director, probably you should take it up such issues and help us Goans. We,
Goans will be very grateful to you. There are also few Non-Goans doing good
work. Why not you take it up these issues which you requested me and may be
they will publish from you being a Non Goan by a Non Goan Editor. I must
say except one or Two Editors are cooperative and the rest are useless.

stop. She is seems to be homeless and harmless. The whole day and night she

With intense pressure from Manohar Parrikar to somehow shield his protégé
the Crime Branch Inspector Dattaguru Sawant, all eyes are now on whether
the Chief Secretary upholds the law or buckles to the diktats of the
political bosses.



The Director General of Police has forwarded to the Chief Secretary the
inquiry report by Superintendent of Police Shekhar Prabhudesai into the
complaint over the huge disproportionate assets acquired by Crime Branch
Police Inspector Dattaguru Sawant.



Crime Branch Inspector Dattaguru Sawant on 18th August 2014 at an auction
conducted by the Goa Housing Board had bid after paying an initial deposit
of Rs one lakh for a mind boggling amount of Rs. 1,45,86,000 a plot
admeasuring 483 sq. mtrs. at Durga Vaddo in Taleigao. Dattaguru Sawant was
declared the successful bidder but did not make any further payment so he
forfeited the one lakh deposited. Dattaguru Sawant has to explain as to how
he bid for a whopping one crore forty five lakhs and had besides also not
sought the requisite departmental permission.



Dattaguru Sawant through a benami transaction alleged purchased Flat A-102,
at Risara Luxuria in Taleigao admeasuring 138 sq. mtrs. for Rs. 89,80,800
where he is currently now residing. If Dattaguru Sawant now claims that the
flat has been taken by him on rent, he has to explain as to how he is
paying the rent which should be approximately Rs 45,000 a month for that
luxurious flat. Dattaguru Sawant’s gross monthly salary is around Rs 58,000.



Dattaguru Sawant has also furnished that flat to a tune of approximately Rs
20 lakhs which was all purchased from a premium furniture store THE
TREASURE located at Dukle Heaven in Taleigao. Dattaguru Sawant and his
spouse Manuja who is a housewife also own Polo cars bearing registration No
GA07K2111 and GA07Q2111 respectively without seeking required departmental
permissions.



Dattaguru Sawant is reportedly drawing House Rent allowance despite being
in possession of a government residential premises in Block M-52 at the
Montepio quarters at Althinho which he has kept closed.



It may be recalled that Dattaguru Sawant through his very close links with
the BJP and RSS was inducted as a Police Sub-Inspector in 2002 during
Manohar Parrikar’s first term as Chief Minister but his appointment was set
aside by the High Court as illegal while the matter is now pending before
the Supreme Court. In 2003 Dattaguru Sawant was dismissed from service for
allegedly extorting money at Mapusa but managed to get reinstated in 2006.



Dattaguru Sawant is currently also facing proceedings before the Goa State
Police Complaints Authority for having as then Police Sub-Inspector at
Konkan Railway Station at Margao on 1st September 2013 demanded free
helmets from the goods consignment that had arrived at the Railway Station
but as the two porters refused to give him free helmets, Dattaguru Sawant
arrested and implicated them in a false and fabricated case which was not
only a grave misconduct on his part but a severe police atrocity.



Dattaguru Sawant had a criminal record even before becoming a police
officer with an F.I.R registered against him in 1999 at the Panaji Police
Station for having along with some BJP activists sprayed black ink on then
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Shantaram Naik at the entrance of
Cafe Bhosle in Panaji.
