[Goanet] Ladies Special bus - Goa

2013-05-01 Thread Mario Andrew Rodrigues

Dear CM Parrikar, Mr. Almeida,
THANK YOU for this wonderful exclusive Ladies special bus. Sincerely appreciate
this gesture. Proud of doing something first in India. Keep up the good
work/service. God Bless. RegardsMario

PANAJI/MARGAO/VASCO: The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar, along with
Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) chairman, Mr Carlos Almeida, on Tuesday,
flagged off ladies special bus from the Panaji bus stand.
After flagging off the bus, Mr Parrikar and Mr Almeida had a brief
interaction with women to get feedback on the initiatives taken by the
government to empower women and to ensure their security and safety.
Mr
Parrikar said that it is the endeavour of the government to ensure safe
environment for women in Goa and more steps would be taken in future for their
betterment.
Earlier, Mr Almeida said that perhaps, this must be first time in
the country that special regular bus service for women has been
introduced.
He said that constant monitoring would be done to ensure that
this initiative of the state government is proving beneficial for women.
At
Margao, the Minister for Transport, Mr Ramakrishna Dhavalikar, said that the
government is committed to provide better facilities to women commuters and
therefore five ladies special KTC buses have been introduced on the major
routes
in
the state.
Speaking to the media after inaugurating the Margao-Panaji
bus service, the Minister said the government had promised in the Assembly that
as soon as the first lot of 100 buses comes, ladies special buses would be
introduced in Goa.
“I am happy that today the promise has been fulfilled,” he
said and added that the government had gathered data on women commuters before
these buses were launched.
On Tuesday, the government introduced one bus from
Margao to Panaji that will make two trips - one in the morning at 8.30 and the
second at 6 in the evening.
“If it gets good response, we would add more
buses,” he disclosed when asked whether one bus would cater to the needs of the
women commuters.
In Vasco, the Power Minister, Mr Milind Naik flagged off the
ladies special bus. He said the state government has fulfilled one more
assurance given to the people by introducing such buses in the state.
He
said there was a need for introducing ladies special buses as a large number of
women commuters are facing a lot of problems while travelling on day-to-day
basis.
He informed that the number of such buses would be increased in future
according to the response that they get from women commuters.

 Early life

Jorge Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires, one of the five children of
an Italian railway worker and his wife. After studying at the seminary
in Villa Devoto, he entered the Society of Jesus on March 11, 1958.
Bergoglio obtained a licentiate in philosophy from the Colegio Máximo
San José in San Miguel, and then taught literature and psychology at
the Colegio de la Inmaculada in Santa Fe, and the Colegio del Salvador
in Buenos Aires. He was ordained to the priesthood on December 13,
1969, by Archbishop Ramón José Castellano. He attended the
Philosophical and Theological Faculty of San Miguel, a seminary in San
Miguel. Bergoglio attained the position of novice master there and
 became professor of theology.

Impressed with his leadership skills, the Society of Jesus promoted
Bergoglio and he served as provincial for Argentina from 1973 to 1979.
He was transferred in 1980 to become the rector of the seminary in San
Miguel where had had studied. He served in that capacity until 1986.
He completed his doctoral dissertation in Germany and returned to his
homeland to serve as confessor and spiritual director in Córdoba.

Bergoglio succeeded Cardinal Quarracino on February 28, 1998. He was
concurrently named ordinary for Eastern Catholics in Argentina, who
lacked their own prelate. Pope John Paul II summoned the newly named
archbishop to the consistory of February 21, 2001 in Vatican City and
elevated Bergoglio with the papal honors of a cardinal. He was named
to the Cardinal-Priest of Saint Robert Bellarmino.

As cardinal, Bergoglio was appointed to several administrative
positions in the Roman Curia. He served on the Congregation of Clergy,
Congregation of Divine Worship and Sacraments, Congregation of
Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Congregation of Societies of
Apostolic Life. Bergoglio became a member of the Commission on Latin
 American and the Family Council.

As Cardinal, Bergoglio became known for personal humility, doctrinal
conservatism and a commitment to social justice. A simple lifestyle
has contributed to his reputation for humility. He lives in a small
apartment, rather than in the palatial bishop's residence. He gave up
his chauffeured limousine in favor of public transportation, and he
 reportedly cooks his own meals.

Upon the death of Pope John Paul II, Bergoglio, considered papabile
himself, participated in the 2005 papal conclave as a cardinal
elector, the conclave that selected Pope Benedict XVI. A widespread
theory says that he was in a tight fight with Ratzinger until he
himself adviced crying [clarification needed] not to be voted.[2]
Earlier, he had participated in the funeral of Pope John Paul II and
acted as a regent alongside the College of Cardinals, governing the

It seems that a very erroneous practice is being followed at the Goa
Medical College (GMC). Patients shifted there from any private hospital are
being admitted as a medico-legal case. As a result of this, if the patient
dies at GMC, the hospital will not certify the death unless a post-mortem
 is done.

We recently had a young Ribandar lady diagnosed with cancer who had to be
shifted from GMC to Manipal Hospital at Dona Paula as there was no
ventilator available. The young lady who continued in a state of coma was
arranged to be shifted back to GMC when a ventilator was made available. On
being brought back to GMC she was re-admitted as a medico-legal case. After
a few days at GMC she lost her battle against cancer. But the already much
traumatized parents were in for further dose of horror and anguish when
told by the doctors that a post mortem would have to be done on their
 departed daughter.

It can be a medico legal case only if 1. A patient is brought by the
police for examination and reporting, or by an order of the court for
medical examination. 2. The patient was already attended to by a doctor and
a medico-legal case was registered in the previous hospital, and the person
is now referred for expert management/ advice. 3. When the patient himself
expresses intention to register a case against an alleged accused.4. If
after eliciting the history and examining the patient, the attending doctor
feels that some investigation by law enforcement agencies is essential to
establish and fix responsibility for the case in accordance with the law of
 the land.

I had an opportunity to speak to various doctors in the know who were all
of the opinion that the case in question should never have been considered
 as a medico-legal case.

The word autopsy (also known as a post-mortem) is derived from the Greek
word autopsia to see with one's own eyes?. After having seen the young
lady succumb to cancer what else was left to be ascertained through an
 unnecessary post-mortem?

Terry Tempest Williams had said ?An individual doesn't get cancer, a family
does?. This is what the family must have felt when told that the young
departed lady would have to undergo a post-mortem after having already
 bravely endured so much pain.

Let us hope that the Dean of Goa Medical College Dr V.N.Jindal will discuss
this issue thread bare with the Heads of his various departments so that in
future the cases where the cause of death is well established, an
unnecessary post mortem is avoided. A well laid out protocol may have to be
in place and uniformly followed by all doctors.

Government seeks views on illegal religious shrines
 TNN | Jun 3, 2012, 05.26AM IST

PANAJI: The government has put up a draft policy, seeking to lay down
procedure for removal of unauthorized religious structures, while retaining
and regularizing decades-old ones and relocating others, in the public domain
 for suggestions.

The ten-page draft policy on religious structures is being circulated to
panchayats and is also available on the government site for perusal. After
30 days, the objections and suggestions received from the public will be
compiled and submitted to the government, North Goa collector, Mihir Vardhan
 said.

Treading cautiously on this issue, the BJP-led government had announced that
it would invite suggestions from the public to finalize the policy to remove
illegal structures as directed by an order of the Supreme Court.

The erstwhile Congress government had carried out part of the process through
committees and identified 979 illegal structures. Later, only 80 of them were
earmarked for demolition, around 336 for regularization and the others for
 relocation.

The unauthorized religious structures in non-comunidade land are proposed to
be removed within 90 days after the order is passed.

There are about 80 religious structures, including 31 in North Goa and 49 in
South Goa, identified for removal by the district administration, the policy
 states.

The land owning agency (LOA) or estate officer (EO) will have to apply to the
TLC with details of encroachment, survey number, size and nature of
encroachment and public hindrance and personal information about the
 encroacher.

After the issue of show cause notice under Section 40 of land revenue code
1968 to the all concerned parties for a reply within 30 days, the TLC will
issue orders, even ex-parte if the party representing the structure fails to
appear, for its removal within 15 days.

The entire cost of the removal of structures shall be borne by the land
 owning agency, the policy states.

For relocation of religious structures, the land owning agency/estate officer
has to apply to the TLC with requisite details and documents. If interested
parties appear before the TLC, they will be given an opportunity of hearing
within 15 days, the policy states.

If parties fail to respond, the TLC will have the right to decide about
relocation or demolition at the cost of the government or land owning agency.

The district administration has recommended regularization of a total of 336
structures, including 292 in north Goa and 44 in south Goa.

But the owners of the land on which the structures are located would have to
apply to the TLC with requisite documents and a plan containing all details.

In case of lack of response, the TLC will decide about the regularization of
such structures at the owner's or government's cost.

The structures which are difficult to be shifted will be removed, the policy
states. If no organizations, trusts and managements apply for relocation of
structures, they will be liable for demolition.

The policy envisages formation of state, headed by chief minister and
district and taluka level committees, headed by district collectors as
 chairmen.

The DLC and TLC will inspect the records of all religious structures, which
are more than hundred years old or less. If the structures are obstructing
traffic movement, the panels will work out plans to shift them to other
locations at the cost of the respective bodies, management or trusts.

The government will carve out a separate fund to take care of the expenditure

owners, mega-project builders, politicians - they are linked through
business dealings, awards and grants for art and entertainment events,
 sponsorships, advertising.

 Comment:
Leave aside the media, do the Goa miners and builders not control the
literary and activist circles and so claimed intelligensia of Goa? The
miners and builders decide who will rule Goa, isn't it?
While Vedanta's mining will get world wide publicity for its impact on Goa,
the filth of other culprits will be swept under the carpet and projected as
philantrophists. How many of the elite activists will boycott a social
function if the mining lobby is present or hosting it? These will be claimed
to be two different issues, isn't it?
Let us continue to celebrate in a fools paradise called Goa. As the bible
says, How would it benefit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own
 soul?

Dear members of the Cabinet and President Sonia Gandhi,

The current Lokpal negotiations offer us a once-in-a-generation opportunity
to tackle corruption and clean up Indian politics.

I urge you to support the civil society draft of the Lokpal bill which
includes the Prime Minister's office, sitting Members of Parliament and the
Central Bureau of Investigation under its purview, and empowers the Lokpal
to investigate all civil servants and higher judiciary by filing FIR's.

We have waited 42 years for strong anti-corruption legislation -- we will
not accept a weak bill now.

We want our India to become the 'SUPERPOWER' of the world and what is
holding it back is 'rampant Corruption' at high levels.

 Sincerely,

I do salute the courage and the determination of the young man who filled the
complaint for the disqualification of the Alemao princess riding piggyback of
her father's arrogance, money and muscle power. I won't be surprised if some
 of
the disgruntled senior Congressmen are behind this new fiasco, because long
 time
party loyalists will definitely feel hurt and robbed if they are made to
sacrifice their worth for a two bit puppet whose strings are pulled by

How many more deaths Mr. Chief Electrical Engineer?

No, I will not ask the same question to Power Minister
or the Chief Minister as for them such
deaths are minor issues as they feel things can be
patched up after compensating the Family by a
meagre amount of Rs. 2 lakhs per death.

But this death by electrocution is very serious issue.
Gross negligence on the part of Power Dept Staff noted.

When the villagers saw the snapped wire, they
immediately reported at the local section office by logging
 on the complaint book.
Despite reporting, the electricity Dept. failed to switch off
the power leaving there for two days thus causing death of
an innocent young Arjun of Dhaukond Dharbandora on
 8th May 2011

Power Minister, Chief Electrical Enginneer,AE, JE, Linesmen
etc have serious explanation to give in this incident
as to why the power was not switched off for 2days?

What more? They were quick enough to join the snapped
wire (not even replace by new one).
Worst part of it is 'No guard loops' provided throughout
the section even after 11 days from the incident.
As if the Dept playing with the lives of the people
(pl see various pics and Video here).

No employer's visit to the household (Father working for Salgaocars
 mines as watchman)
No MP or MLA's Visit (MLA Salgaokar),
No Power minister nor Chief minister visited
No Chief Electrical Engineer nor AE or JE or linesman visited
No Patrakar or Media people visited
No financial Help received from anyone
 ?

Young Arjun was the only child. (An ITI Student)
What the parents must be going through?
As for me, I have personally seen the mother sitting in
one corner and will not move or talk
God, Give courage to them to bear the loss.

Arjun was happy go lucky as any young boy of his age.
His father gave him new bike, just a month ago.
 ?

Electricity Dept, needed to be taken to the court.
More and more cases of negligence reported.
 ?

 Note:
JoeGoaUk wishes to contribute upto Rs.10k if anyone or
any Lawyer takes up this criminal case against Power Dept.
They can?t get away all the time.
Following my above comment on Facebook, there was

Its sad to read from Cheryl's life story that some spiritual leaders are
teaming up with the GOA-ve (Negative)blood group team who has made Goa look
like HELL by destroying nature to accommodate megaprojects, illegal mining,
allowing foreigners(Russians et all) to buy land built restaurants where

 Exactly so, Rico.

Yesterday, I made it a point to visit Caurem along with Adv. Antonio Lobo,
to shake hands with the agitating women ( including Cheryl D'Souza) of
Aguada jail fame of the past and to congratulate them on their anti-mining
 stand.

At Quepem, we were misdirected and in the bargain we landed up proceeding
 to Curchorem-Sanguen instead of Caurem.
What we experienced has shocked us to our toes. Normal road traffic is not
possible with hundreds of laden truck proceeding towards Sanguem and empty
ones returning to the mines. Other vehicles must zoom in an out between the
 trucks whenever opportunity is available.
This is not a traffic problem.
This is a human rights problem.
Ordinary life is paralysed totally and completely.
 POOR THEM.
Being the core members of the GRA as well as of the GSRP, we feel that we
must do something terrible to avert human tragedy in this area.

Then we visited Maina in Caurem, the home to Cheryl D'Souza on a farm stead
of 240 acres nesting between beautiful green hills after shaking hands with
the motley group of women still on daily protests.

Cheryl poured out her life story to us, about how friends have turned foes,
how even spiritual leaders have turned their backs on this trio - the old
and ailing mother ( who is also of Aguada face), the woman with guts of
brass and her teenage school going girl who was forced to learn karate and
judo as part of her survival lessons. Their only safety is their ferocious
 dogs.

A tour of the farm was invigorating. Cheryls hubby died of fence
electricution at the age of 35 something when they, according to her, had
just paid off the loans on this farm. Tony's body is cremated on the
grounds, she says, and that is my resolve not to sell this iron ore laden
( 60+ grade) estate which is in the eye of the Goa ministers, the Alemaos.
They want me to sell, she says. This will only happen over my dead body,
 she shouts.

A hot cup of tea to go with the life story was what made us both more
patriotic than what we were. Cheryl is one hundered per cent GOAN and she is
ferrociously defending her rights to live a quiet peaceful life of hard work
and prosper. I don't want the multi crores that these punks are offering me.
They will get this land only over my dead dead body, she says.

Meantime, she showed us the vegetables she is growing besides the various
fruits including heavily laden mango tree grafts. My only problem is the
hordes of monkeys which are displaced from around the mining areas.

She markets her produncts at a distant Varca on every day basis which
 includes mouth watering pickles.

We have taken her offer to spend a week- end with her on this sprawling
farm, the only place in God's heaven when the sorrounding is gone to dogs
(including the very road she has to travel on daily basis) with
indiscriminate mining going on. I have to change the tyres of my vehicles
every 2 to 3 months, she says.

The parting piece she tells us is that, 'IF I SELL, ALL 3 SIDES SURROUND MY
ESTATE ARE GOING TO EXPLODE INTO IRREVERSIBLE MINING THAT WILL BE THE END OF
 GOA AND GOANS.

We have parted advising her to keep her guns loaded and to check the live
status of the bullets in the belts.

 Cheers

Dear Floriano,

Congratulations, best wishes and support 24x7x365 to you.

You are the master BUILDER who builts legally and with truth which the 40
SERVANTS of lies and illegal means could not destroy.

You are the OWNER of righteousness while the prominent 40 are the TENANTS of
manipulations, wrongdoings, corruptions.

You may NOT find many people for the inauguration.
Reason :
a) DORA APPARTMENTS is in MOIRA and NOT Qatar, Dubai, London ( where
everything is provided ON THE HOUSE, IN THE HOUSE, UNDER THE HOUSE)
b) People are not used to travelling empty handed , short distance. They are
used to travelling with filled suitcases , long distances.

However, those who know you well, and those whom you know well, will come to
congratulate you and bless this and all other projects.
Why don't you tell the people of Goa the prices you charged for the flats in
DORA. Let them know which builder is building for Goans and which builders(and
their supporters) are bleeding Goans. I know you will say it is not good to
praise ones own tail, but facts are facts and should be known.

All said and done, Floriano, rest assured , Your Mother continues to bless you,
DORA Appts. and all your activities from her eternal home. Amen.

 Dear bab Wilson,

 Encouraging words indeed.
 Thank YOU.

8th. May, 2011 will see the inauguration of my third apartment building
 'Dora Apartments' at Moira.
It was started in September 2006 and I got the Occupancy Certificate in Nov
 2010.
The Occupancy was slated to be given to the clients after 18 months but it
 took 50. ( i.e. a delay of 32 months which is 2.6 years)
 WHY??
Because I refuse to pay BRIBES.
I am on record for having paid 'zilch' bribes ( i.e. not a single paisa,
not a cup of tea) to anyone in my dealings with Government and
semi-government officials since I started my (retired) occupation in Goa
since 1995 [except for a 1 ltr Black Lable to the Electrical Assistant
Engineer to expedite the 3 phase connection so that my brother could start
his crown cap factory in 1988 - that too at his office (Mapusa) bang on his
office table and which episode had shocked my brother to his boots].

This particular delay ( Dora Apartments) was because I had asked the TCP
officer (Mapusa) if he wanted to sit in the 'can' and cool his heels and
also lose his retirement benefits, when he had asked me for a bribe at the
very first inspection of the site for contraction, besides, that Dayanand
Narvekar thought he could eliminate his opposition by demolishing Dora
Apartments, question about which illegality he had raised in the Goa
 Legislative Assembly, even.

The message I want to send to GOA through this 'INAUGURAL CEREMONY' on 8th
May is: ' DO NOT BRIBE, EVEN IF YOU BE HARASSED TO NO END'

In due course of time during this harassment, when I was taken to High Court
through a Writ Petition, I defended myself in person and am on record for
having told the double Bench ( Justice Vasifdhar -Justice Salvi - 29th.
march 2010) - Your Lordships. Please pass an order to demolish my building
if you can find a square inch of illegality. Properties worth crores of
rupees have been demolished thro' my PILs numbering 7 in this Hon'ble HC and
therefore by virtue of this I must not be allowed to indulge in
illegalities. The Petition was thrown out before admission.

I am extremely sorry for the tardy response.

But FYI, the above is the GOA SU-RAJ WAY all the WAY.

I am taking the liberty of extending you a 'public invite' for the coming
inauguration, and , for which I beg forgiveness, from you as well as from
 GOANET admin.

 Cheers

PS: If God has to help us, we Goans must help GOA to be non-corrupt, first

Aren't all our politicians, MPs, MLAs and the lot all pure local goans?
Do you really believe Sonia Gandhi and the centre are that concerned

[Goanet] Churchill denies calling Goans ‘squea ling pigs’

2010-06-15 Thread Mario Andrew Rodrigues

Churchill denies calling Goans ‘squealing pigs’

Offers to resign if statement proved
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, JUNE 14
Strongly denying that he had ever called Goans as squealing pigs, the PWD
Minister offered to resign both as an MLA and Minister if proved that he had
made the statement.
“What I had said was that the NGOs are always crying when the government takes
up development and also when there is no development. I had never compared
Goans to crying pigs. I have no right to say that”, an agitated Alemao said.
The Navelim MLA said he would never call Goans pigs and accused his political
opponent behind the campaign against him on the issue.
“If I have ever called Goans pig, I am ready to resign as an MLA. What I had
said was that in Goa, there should be a policy on housing as there are around
1000-2000 Goan builders and around two lakh workers employed in the
construction industry. Everywhere, the NGOs demand a stop on the construction
activity”, he said, adding “in Goa, Christians rear pigs and kill them. If we
go to catch pigs to rear or kill them, they don’t know why they cry”.
In the same way, he said that the NGOs are crying even when the government
tries to take up developmental project such as the bridges in his Navelim
constituency.
He blamed his political opponent from Navelim for writing letters to the Editor
in the local papers. “Goans by and large know what Churchill has done for Goa.
It is very difficult to get another Churchill. The sacrifice which I and my
family made for the Konkani language, everyone knows. People will realise my
contribution only when I leave this world”, Alemao added. “Some people even
came to Carmona with a pig. My supporters were agitated and disturbed over the
false campaign, but I advised them not to react”, he said, and reminded his
political opponents that only God and the people of Goa can finish him
politically and termed his opponents as mere “samples”.

There is heavy hill cutting going on in my vicinity. Therefore, since I was
the victim of the police action at the secretariat for just this demand (of
the flying squad implementation) I called 1077 for the very first time. And,
as expected, the answering machine came on [SABI LINEH VYAST HAIM]. This
was happening since morning, today. Therefore, peeked about this, I decided
on some action. The first call was to the TCP Dept. Mapusa. They directed me
to TCP Panjim. Surprisingly I got the TCP Chief on the line. Exchanging
greetings, I told him my sorry tale about 1077. He was apologetic and told
me that it is not his department's concern but that of the Collector
(North). Could I please persue that angle? My next call was to the Collector
(North). I spoke to the collector's secretary (who is well known to me). She
directed me to the Flying Squad incharch Mr. Ferrao. I gave him the details
and the whereabouts of the hill cutting. I asked him to check if this site
has 17A (hill cutting permission) and to check this site nevertheless. I
also told him that I would wait with a garland to inaugurate his first
 mission, if that was it.

When he wanted to know who the caller is, I told him my various designations
and also informed him that I was one of the arrested at the secretariat for
asking questions about his Flying squad mission. That he better take action
to verify this complaint or else there would be an atom bomb under his seat.
 He got the message.

For the kind information of those who will encounter 'SABI LINEH VYAST HAIM'
 when dialled 1077.

 PPS
 PEOPLE for POLITICAL SANITY
 PEOPLE'S POWER SYSTEM

 Date: 25 April, 2010
Place: Grace Church Hall - Margao-Goa.

 Preamble:

South Goa has the distinction of coming to Goa's rescue on two counts.

GOA was thus saved once through the ferociously fought Opinion Poll of 16
January, 1967, Goa remaining Goa that was for 450 odd years, thus saving
 Goa's
culture, ethnicity, unique identity and above all the Goanness of Goans,
irrespective of their religious beliefs and other definitions. All this
would have been lost if South Goa did not fight tooth and nail against the
 Merger of Goa into Maharashtra.

GOA was saved the second time when Goa's mother tongue was threatened, not
being able to occupy the status of Goa's Official Language and when Goans,
especially the Shastikar Goans again fought tooth and nail for KONKANI in
1986. It is altogether a different matter that Devnagiri script was elevated
to ignore the much widely used Konkani's Roman script. The tussle that we
see today between these two scripts only helps in keeping Goa's mother
tongue less developed and less effective.

Since 1986, Goa has been torn to pieces, Goans never seeming to unite as one
to keep Goa's mainstays which are its hills, its vales, its rivers, its
forests and green cover, its wild-life, its water-falls, its endless
stretches of golden beaches, its agricultural fields, in short Goa's basic
and world admired ecological balance and environmental marvel. But more than
that the Goan Identity seems to be on the diluting trend. And as expected,
when Goans themselves have been divided in the understanding as to what
exactly they want, outsiders have edged in and taken advantage to the extent
that most Goans that matter believe that their beloved GOA has reached a
stage where it is beyond saving. The most blamed entity is Goa's Political
class, warranting Goa's much loved artist and singer-musician- REMO
Fernandes to publicly declare with frustration that Goa's politicians of
all colour and creed must be drowned into the Arabian Sea.

The Question is : 'Is there a hope for GOA, then?'

The deafening answer is 'YES', through the newly born 'PPS' - the superior
movement of the conscious people of Goa which will work towards uniting all
other people's movements in Goa for just one cause, on one agenda... the
agenda to provide Goa the much needed 'POLITICAL SANITY' where 'political
madness has been reigning steadfast since 1961.

The 'PPS' movement is designed to be totally and completely 'political', non
competitive and 'non-partisan' in nature. Goans are fed-up and frustrated of
being taken for jolly good rides by cunning and self-seeking politicians for
far too long. They have now chosen to come together to demand political
sanity in the way Goa is governed. And to demand this of Goa's political
dispensation, who else is better positioned than the Shastikars who have
been the guardians of Goa? In the maiden meet of the PPS, the following
RESOLUTION is unanimously passed on 25th. April, 2010 at the Grace Church
Hall, Margao [South Goa] in order to rise to the occasion of saving Goa for
yet the third and hopefully the last time, which resolution reads as
 follows:

 THE RESOLUTION

WE THE PEOPLE OF GOA DO HEREBY COME TOGETHER TO STAY TOGETHER IN OUR FIGHT
TO BRING POLITICAL SANITY IN GOA'S GOVERNANCE FOR ONCE, HAVING BEEN CHEATED
AND FRUSTRATED BY OUR POLITICIANS AND OUR POLITICAL PARTIES WHOM WE HAVE
BEEN ELECTING AT EVERY ELECTION BELIEVING THAT THEY WILL WORK FOR THE
BETTERMENT OF GOA AND GOANS. WE HAVE REALISED THAT EVEN IF WE ELECTED
'SAINTS' TO GOVERN US, WE SHALL BE DISAPPOINTED IN THEM IF THEY CHOSE TO
WORK RANDOMLY AND UNCO-ORDINATEDLY IN THE ABSENCE OF A SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE
TO GO BY AND TO FOLLOW. HENCEFORTH, WE WANT OUR POLITICIANS AND OUR
POLITICAL PARTIES TO WORK TOWARDS PUTTING TOGETHER THE PROCEDURES FOR SUCH
A CO-ORDINATED SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE IN PLACE, FIRST, BEFORE THEY COME
VOOING US FOR OUR VOTES. WE, IN OUR OWN TURN AND STYLE, WILL CHOOSE THAT
POLITICAL PARTY OR A COLLECTIVE OF SINCERE PEOPLE WHICH NOT ONLY BRINGS OUT
A WRITEN DOWN CO-ORDINATED SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE FOR GOA UNDER WHICH IT WILL
WORK BUT ALSO SELL IT TO

Hi Joe and fans of Alfred Rose

It is always good to hear Alfred Rose's songs, but my humble request is
have musical shows which does justice to Melody King Alfreds melodious
voice.
May all those who can sing definately sing Alfreds songs but the
musicals and commercial or be it promoting his songs should be by those
singers who can sing Alfred Rose's songs with ease, comfort and melody
that brings alive Alfred and do not let it die. For me, my ears are
filled with melody when I hear our very own Agnelo Fernandes sing. Its
my personal choice. What is yours?

I came back again. A bit on Goa. Since I never heard of floods in Goa and
rechecked with my Mom too and she said did not see nor heard floods of this
magnitude

ever in Goa since last 100 years.

Nature(Mother Earth’s) fury is a reminder to humans(Goans especialy),
especially those who are greedy and out to destroy Goas enviornment by abusing
it by cutting down hills, trees, illegal mining, mega projects, CRZ violations.

Salute to the locals irrespective of caste, creed, religion, colour went about
helping those in need and those who went only for photography sake-shame on you

Taking the liberty to put here the email detailing the situation before and
after and the urgent needs.

Do Not Play With Nature (Freddy Fernandes)
During the good “young” days, I was often told by my parents not to play with
fire and water and they made sure that I understood the why factor of it. Fire
and water are major contributors to life as well as destruction, it is said
that “one tree can give us millions of match sticks, but one match stick could
destroy millions of trees”, further it is also said that “a drop of water can
give life to a dieing man, but a strong flow of water can wipe away cities”.
Mother nature has been very good to us Goans, in all my life I have never heard
of any major natural disaster on Goan soil. As gracious and kind as mother
nature is, it can also be very destructive as well, hence we should not take
mother nature for granted and abuse it’s generosity.

The cloud burst over Poinguinim, and the flood caused thereafter should be a
reminder for us that it could have been worse and should be thankful that it
wasn’t. However advanced we may be in science and technology, we will never
ever be equipped enough to face the wrath and fury of mother nature, it is only
advisable for us to live in ambience with nature and follow it’s natural
progression.

It is indeed very sad that a lot of our people have been badly hit by this
tragedy, some dead, houses, properties and fields destroyed but it is
heartening indeed to read that the locals helped each other in this time of
adversity, caste, colour, status and religion was forgotten, it was humans,
humane effort that saved the day for a good many. Leaders do evolve from
ordinary men and women during crises. It was also not surprising to note that
the politicians, police and the bureaucrats did nothing to help but were
somehow there for the photography sessions and to “take stock” of the situation
as they say, which undoubtedly means trying to figure out how much they could
benefit from this disaster (letter by Urvee Kavindra Phaldesai, Poinguinim on
Herald “Real heroes of the deluge dated 5th Oct’09).

Soter, in his letter “Gods are angry” on Herald dated 5th Oct’09, states that
during the good old days, people would have thought that it was God’s
punishment for the crimes and atrocities committed against mother nature and it
could be very much true, because the rate at which our forest area is receding
and our green cover disappearing because of mining and hill cutting to
accommodate mega housing projects, it is all this destruction that contribute
to climatic changes and cause the imbalance, sooner or later worse disasters
are bound to happen, if we do not show any tangible change in attitude towards
mother nature. Men’s greed along with his uncanny disregard for ecology and
environmental safety, will most certainly invite the wrath of mother nature in
all it’s ferocity. We have to respect nature and preserve it’s generous
giving’s. I only hope and pray that we Goans do not have to bear the blunt of
the ferocity of mother nature because of the greed and arrogance of our
politicians. Like my parents had told me “do not play with nature.” Save our
environment, save Goa

It was beyond anyone imagination, as to why we do not have a comprehensive
mining policy even though mining was carried out even during the Portuguese
rule and are absolutely astounded to note, that Goa till date does not have a
state disaster management system set up. Aren’t we all sitting ducks, if
disaster strikes Goa ?

Are there no accidents / deaths/ ugly scenes/ fights and illtreatment in
families due to alcohol consumption in Goa?

For me the answer is YES. And I definately find too many liquor shops in Goa
too..some of them definately needs to be closed down. Unless we love to
have more liquor shops than a clinic or school.

Goans, do you agree? OR you love to get a 'kick' on every step you take on the

Data/statistics do reveal that Kerala is no.1 in terms of alcohol consumption.
Let them be. Atleast in this field lets not compete. Lets be last. Haha, I

Kerala Church Demands Closure Of Liquor Shops On Major Roads

By SAR NEWS

KOCHI, Kerala (SARNEWS) -- The Kerala Catholic Bishops have urged the
communists-led state government to close down all liquor shops on the
highways and busy roads, in accordance with a directive issued in this
regard by the Central government.

In a statement September 5, the Kerala Catholic Bishops? Council, the
premier representative body of a sizeable Catholic Christian community
in Kerala, stated that studies conducted by state government agencies
had found that drunken driving was the main reason for the increased
rate of accidents in the state.

Instead of organising effective anti-liquor campaigns, the Left
Democratic Front government, with the single motive of increasing tax
revenue through sale of liquor, was causing great harm to society by
sanctioning to more such shops, the bishops said.

?This must stop immediately,? demanded the statement issued by KCBC
president Archbishop Daniel Acharuparambil and other office-bearers.

Taxes from liquor sales have swelled the state coffers by rupees 193
crore this fiscal alone (from Rs. 1,163 crore in the last financial
year to Rs 1,356 crore).

According to the figures provided by the state planning board, a
whopping 27,972 road accidents were recorded in 2008 in which 2,868
lost their lives and as many as 32,934 people were injured or maimed

Did not our grandparents draw water from the well and preserved the well too,
went fishing at night and made money by selling during the night, got up early
morning and make masala on the gundsuno, went everyday walking to the market,
cultivated the fields themselves and had a good harvest, slept without fans and
air conditioners under a tree in our own land, walked and enjoyed the beach and
prepared everything -stitched best of clothes, cooked best tasty food, sang
mandos, danced all night long, had a wonderful time, toasted home made feni,
for a 7 day weddings and celebrated all feasts , birthdays, anniversaries and
also shared the moments of grief sorrows . Did not they live happily without
fences around the houses, drank tender coconut water for good health, never

Lets think and live the way GOANS(our grandparents) used to live before.

Sorry if you love the Air conditioners, fast foods, adulterated drinks, drugs,
mafia style, heartless attitude, big ego, depended on others for every small
thing, no love for trees/fields/beaches/nature, think money is health, then
better leave GOA and migrate and don't call yourself GOAN anymore. Those

caught unawares by going abroad and wish to return, those sincerely thinking

Two new showrooms/office spaces, double height (135 sq m each with bath)
for lease in upscale Campal/Miramar beach area, Panaji, Goa.
Contact: goaengineer...@aol.com

The IDEAL CM, YSR, worked and gave up his life for the downdrodden and the
needy.

I request the Congress camp not to weep, but to take up responsibility to do
what YSR did .
Strive to be like YSR- “IDEAL” , not “IDLE ”; “OUTSTANDING” not “STANDING
OUT” when called for service

May YSR soul RIP

Re: [Goanet] Goans lived in misery under Portuguese

2009-09-02 Thread Mario Andrew Rodrigues

Dear Floriano

From what I heard from my grandparents and on reading your note on Portuguese
administration, I am convinced , clear and have a true feeling that law and
order/administration then was very fair, clean , impartial and above all
FAST(not like todays 20-25 years long legal battles in Goa courts-never
ending dates and never say die advocates/judges mentality). Todays Goas
administration from its effects on goans can be termed as 'swine flu' and
there is an urgent need for the 'vaccination' in the form of Goan peoples
voices as this administration is killing goans peace, freedom, rights for too
long now.

Actually we do not mind these donkeys to rule us and never mind if they do not
carry our food, clothing, shelther things and reach them from the market place
to our door steps. We will do it ourselves since these donkeys do not know what
SERVICE means. However, these 40 donkeys are quite clever that they do carry
our stuff, they carry our GOAN LAND, FIELDS, HILLS and take it all the way to
DELHI , RUSSIA, and other places.

Floriano, I have seen Ministers , their vast properties, no. of cars, and
their wealth, but I will anytime prefer to be governed by sincere people like
you(well people do change after getting power, but you are not an ordinary
person who is waiting for power, you are already filled with power which is
not for sale) OR party(name it GSRP) and I would love the ordinary
bread(kakon) and the Goan tea in a coconut shell to start the day . This I
still remember enjoying alongwith my Titi(Uncle) on the calangute beach after
they finished offloading the fishing nets from the boats on the beach and the
energetic and strong women folks taking their 'fish pandlios' to market. I am
talking about 1975.

Please , please bring back the portuguese administration minus the portuguese
and please bring back the days of 1975 or earlier minus the ugly princess, I
hate the sight of this and wonder how ugly and sick the owners mind and heart
is , who disowned it after making use of it and making money. And worst still
there are probably still many people who have and still keeping quite as they
probably get gifts, cars, properties and does not even go to the beach for a
walk , not do they care for the environment , nor do they care for the fisher
folks future in terms of fishing, or for the people of calangute candolim who
love the beach.

Best Wishes to you and GSRP.

Regards

Mario Andrew Rodrigues

Which Goans lived in misery during the Portuguese era?
 Were they the elite Goans?
Where they the down to earth, scratching for a living, Goans?
Yes, we had Morris Minors, WW Beetles, Willys Jeeps, Austin Cambriges, St .
Pauli Girl Beer, Madeira, Moscatel, Granjo so on and so forth.
 But who could afford it?

According to me, Goa saw a diciplined administration in all respects. I
salute the Portuguese for that. And I hate my own country's administration
from my very guts. This is only possible because I have experienced both and
I am free to choose which one I like. It does not matter that the Portuguese
looted Goa. Our Delhi High Commands are doing worse with the local chamchas
 helping them to help themselves.

I might have not had more things on my dinner plate than others, then,
during the Portuguese era. But I certainly had the satisfaction of being
 governed fairly, cleanly and impartially.

We have sent away the horses. They had to be sent away, no doubt about it.
But we opened our doors wide for our own donkeys to walk in and make our
lives miserable. And we cannot even blame any one for it but ourselves.

That is why Goa Su-Raj is born. To bring back the Portuguese administration
into Goa back again, minus the Portuguese.
And perhaps, if India needs someone other than the Nehru's and Gandhi's
Kangress which has made our lives miserable, then maybe Goa Su-Raj will
qualify to lead India as India Su-Raj.

 Cheers

Re: [Goanet] Foreigners buying land in Goa and all that

2009-07-13 Thread Mario Andrew Rodrigues

VENITA COELHO 'Only when the last tree has been cut down; Only when the last
river has been
poisoned; Only when the last fish has been caught; Only then will you find that
money cannot be eaten.' (ENDS)
COMMENT : The 40 ants loves to eat paper(money). The ants,in short, live on
dead, one which does not have soul.

MARIO GOVEA
When a foreigner invests in another country it is a sign of respect for that
country, is it not, and a sign of confidence in it as well? Why else would they
risk their money?
COMMENT : Is it also not true that Human attitude desires is ALWAYS to have
something which they do not have. For example, Tired of cold, rain, gloomy
weather they look for sunshine; Tired of wearing too many clothing to stay
warm, they come to a place called GOA where they can be naked; cannot own even
a room appartment with the pounds/dollars/euros/rubbles they have in their own
country that they then come to buy the villa and even the village(morjem).
Lets see just one of the DOMESTIC side views :- the 40 thieves have never seen
pound/dollars/euros/rubbles so they sell LAND which was preserved by our
grandparents for us and accumulate these currencies and i) when they fall sick
they go to the same countries and pay it back for treatment, ii) use this
money to send their children to pursue education to other countries, and their
children do not return iii)migrate and end up loosing in stocks/recession.
Silly or wise?
FREDDY
These are our battles, we have to fight them and that’s the naked truth
COMMENT : Harvest is rich, Labourers are few.

CARMEN MIRANDA
We also need to make sure the miners follow the laws of the country and
rehabilitate the land they destroyed (that is the law that no one respects).
COMMENT: This gave birth to “ORDINANCE 2009”. THE LAW OF GOA, FOR THE GOANS,
CHANGEABLE AS PER WHIMPS AND FANCIES OF THE GOVT, NOT TO SUIT THE
PUBLIC(PEOPLE, AAM ADMI) , BUT FOR PRIVATE( INDIVIDUALS-KHAAS ADMI)
