I lost Karolee's post,
but

Khaki parachute pants (stitched pleats at the waist, buttoned cuffs,
baggy in between) with red top-stitching, a white cap-sleeved cropped
top and (oh my god - should I admit this?) red leather 4 pumps, with my
hair in a ponytail on the back of my head. Screaming bright lipstick and
about a pound of eyeliner.

Do I remember when during the 80s? Not really!

 Think about it...
And what did you wear when you were young that horrified
your parents?

Hot pink velour hip-hugger bell-bottoms... That were from the thrift
shop and were waaay too short (but I loved them for some obscure reason
and so didn't care). And it was 7th grade in 1975, my first year freed
from Catholic school uniforms, so I was oblivious to fashion!

Oh... when I think of all the polyester shirts in Ice cream colors and
stripes with long collars and wide cuffs I wore in prep-schoolYikes!
['71-'75]
They all had little tiny round burn holes with melted edges in them from pot
seeds exploding in all those joints I and my long haired friends were
smoking. My Mother used to ask What IS causing these burn holes???
Oh, like, I wore it in welding class, man.

Did anyone watch Top Design on Bravothe Project Runway-like show for
interior designers? No? Well it did suck! Anyway, Jonathan Adler looked like
he had been dressed by Peter Max with mint green corduroy blazers, yellow
shirts and ties that looked 5 wide. What was wrong with him

Oh my word! How on earth did you walk in them?

High heels are such a foreign concept to me. I've been singing my whole
life, and singers should never wear a heel over an inch high (throws off
your balance, which throws off your breathing). But then, being 5'9, I
never had to be concerned about being 'tall' either. ;)

Well, at least, when WE wore low-slung jeans in the late '60s-early '70s, we
took great pains to be sure our blouses didn't pull out--remember the torture
 of bodysuits?

I spent a great deal of my live in musical theater, singing and dancing in
3+ heels. You need to learn how to stand, walk and dance, but believe me,
you can sing in them, you just need to know how.

I also did ballroom and latin dance professionally, with a dance partner who
was 6'8. (I'm 5'2). My dance shoes had 5 heels, because otherwise we
looked ridiculous. Even now, after a catastrophic car accident, back
injuries and arthritis, I can wear heels, just not for every day, or all
day.

  8 platform shoes,
Oh my word! How on earth did you walk in them?

With a lot of ease, in fact.

Proportionally, they were the same as a normal shoe. The heel was about 8
high, the sole was 7 1/2. There was a curved cut-away under the toe to aid in
stepping and they were made from polyurethane, a rubberish compound that was
sturdy enough without the weight. Walk? Hell, I could run in them and the way
I was dresed back then, I needed to be able to run!

These shoes were shoes, not a boot or ankle covering thing and I had no fear
of them. Funilly enough, some years later when designing hooves that were
almost as high for a costume, I built the things right up over the calf with
strapping and buckling to prevent ankle injury...ah, how cowardice takes us
with age...
