[HCDX] Help please with SS id - 1380 kHZ

2006-03-27 Thread Paul Crankshaw
Can anyone help me with an id please, from a recording made at 0357 UTC
today (Monday) on 1380 kHz

The id sounds like Potenta AM

The first recording (0357 UTC) has what appears to be the name of a location

Radio Portales de ...? and the Potenta AM id is at the end of
the recording

http://www.geocities.com/paulcrankshaw/unknown1.mp3

The second recording (0400 UTC) appears to be a full id but is spoiled
by noise from another channel - Potenta AM is heard at least 3 times

http://www.geocities.com/paulcrankshaw/unknown2.mp3

Just before the 0400 recording there is a pleasant ballad which I should
recognise - but I don't know what it is! Perhaps someone can help me
with this too.

Third recording
http://www.geocities.com/yahfantafooty/unknown3.mp3

In between there are hints that it may be a religious station. There is
a reference to Senor Jesu Cristo

Thirty minutes later I was hearing YVNG Ondas del Mar, but I'm certain
the unknown station is not YVNG.

[HCDX] some logs

2006-03-27 Thread Andrew Yoder
Here are a few logs from the past few days. I was
listening on a Collins R-388, connected to a random
longwire. Unfortunately, my R-5000 power cord was
being used on the DVD player (gotta get another power
cord!) at the time and the PTO on the R-388 varies
from on frequency to as much as +2 kHz, so my
frequencies in the following logs aren’t dead on.

SWBC
Galei Zahal, 6973, 3/27, 0100+ SIO:444 Pop and US
music for a while, then a long telephone interview
with a woman. The strongest I’ve heard’em in about a
month. (Yoder,PA)

ZBC Zimbabwe: 6688, 3/25, 2240+ Pop and reggae songs.
I had it on for background music for more than an
hour. Mostly music early on, but then went into some
talk programming later. I was hoping for Sudan or
Somalia, but Ed Rausch got the ZBC ID later on
(Thanks, Ed!). On 3/26, they were back to 6612 kHz
(Yoder,PA)

Europirate
Mystery Radio: 6220, 3/26, 0100+ Better-than-normal
signal here, prob. about SIO:343. Techno pop music
with rare announcements. (Yoder,PA)

NA Pirate
Dark Night Radio: 6925U, 3/26, 0400+ Announced e-mail
address as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Not too bad at
tune in with country music. Mostly faded out after a
few min., but occasionally faded up. Announcer talked
a lot he has some echo on his voice...kinda reminds
me of the sound of some CBers. (Yoder,PA)

KCBM: 6990U, 3/26, 0400+ Think I had the Ken Barry
show here, but I just couldn’t tune in the weak SSB
with the BFO on the R-388. (Yoder,PA)

WTPR: 6925U, 3/25, 2350+ “Tire Pressure Radio”
Basically an audio version of a chain letter. Very
well produced show about different DXers who didn’t
heed the warnings of the show, kept listening, and
later discovered that their car had flat tires or low
tire pressure. Awesome signal here. Great show! I
listened to the end...and I still have tire pressure!
He also didn't mention my name, so the gods of tire
pressure must be smiling down on me...Please QSL!
(Yoder,PA)

Radio 6: 6932, 3/24, 0040 Pretty decent on fade ups
with a blues song with harmonica. I mostly lost it
after some SSB QRM (Yoder,PA)

QSLs
MAC Shortwave: 6950 f/d color logo card for 2 e-mailed
reports. In abt. 2 months. Thanks! (Yoder,PA)

[HCDX] Radio-Amateurs and Art

2006-03-27 Thread willy
Dear Om , At the beginning of this year 2006,
I am licenced 52 years as Radio-Amateur. I succeeded in the
exams in 1954.Herewith inclosed, some interesting QSL's and
photos of 4U1ITU and from ON4UB at the International Exhibition
(1958) in Brussels .+ QSL's and painting ( Maria ).
Please take a look at the following Radio-Amateurs -URL :

http://blog.seniorennet.be/paintinghistory/archief.php?ID=40
Just click with the mouse on this URL ,(or if you have no html,
please copy this URL into the address-line of your browser),and in
the text (in Dutch, but You do not need at all to know that language)
which appears ,start clicking on the Morse-key -image
at the upper left of the page , and on the different
Links in the text , which will provide a lot of
radio-amateur information (in English),photos of older
radio-amateur receivers and transmitters , and
hundreds of quite rare QSL-cards .

73 from ON4AW / Harbour of Antwerp / Belgium .
P.S. There is much more to see on this site . If You
are an Art-lover , You could click with the mouse on
one of the chapters in the left column , for instance
cubism (kubisme) to admire some paintings of Picasso ,
or 'expressionism ',etc . To see the paintings ,
always click on the upper left image , which appears
in the text .

[HCDX] 4AY and 4KZ FNQ Australia Cyclone Larry

2006-03-27 Thread John Wright
This is from Al Kirton the general manager and fellow ARDXC member in Innisfail
near Cairns, Far north Queensland. In response to Cyclone Larry. A cyclone 1
better than Cyclone Tracy that flatterned Darwin.
4 Ay Innisfail is off air plus the FM transmitters.
So here is the state of serviceability as of 28/3/06 9am local time 2300 UTC.
John (Johnno) Wright Australian Radio DX club.

3 out of 14 of our transmitters are on. 531 East Innisfail, 693 Tully and
1611 Karumba.

531 on omni at about 3kw as one of the 400 foot towers and unused 256 foot
tower fell down. The ATU hut on the present antenna blew away. Fortunately
the Board with the 3 coils and ceramic cap was undamaged. The Army helped us
put it into a temporary enclosure covered by a tarp.

If anyone can DX us I will send a QSL with special Cyclone Larry notation on
it.

The town looks like a battlefield!

[HCDX] Radio Tanzania 1214 kHz

2006-03-27 Thread David Onley
To go with the other two Filipino stations (DYHP 612 - DXIM 936) I now have
Radio Tanzania 1214 kHz on my audio web site.

http://au.geocities.com/david_onley/

It was recorded at Parnka Point South Australia at 2028 UTC on 23 July last
year. Bit slack getting these recordings done but hope to have a swag of
stations on this web site by the weekend.

Those with dial-up it may take a minute to load.

Re: [HCDX] Help please with SS id - 1380 kHZ

2006-03-27 Thread Henrik Klemetz
Paul,
... la nueva emisora en la novena región, Radio
Portales, de Collipulli, en el mil ...-ntos ochenta
AM
So Potenta AM is ochenta AM,
I cannot tell if he is saying trescientos. It could
be doscientos or quinientos, too.
The initial part would need Esta es or Está usted
escuchando or something similar to prove that this
station is actually operating on 1380.
Do you have the missing second or two, Paul?
Collipulli is in the southern part of Chile.
As for the music on the third clip, I am afraid I
cannot help. It is a bolero, but I do not think it is
a wellknown theme.

Can anyone help me with an id please, from a
 recording made at 0357 UTC
 today (Monday) on 1380 kHz

The id sounds like Potenta AM

The first recording (0357 UTC) has what appears to
be the name of a location

Radio Portales de ...? and the Potenta AM id
 is at the end of
 the recording

 http://www.geocities.com/paulcrankshaw/unknown1.mp3

The second recording (0400 UTC) appears to be a full
 id but is spoiled
by noise from another channel - Potenta AM is
 heard at least 3 times

 http://www.geocities.com/paulcrankshaw/unknown2.mp3

Just before the 0400 recording there is a pleasant
 ballad which I should
recognise - but I don't know what it is! Perhaps
 someone can help me
 with this too.

 Third recording
 http://www.geocities.com/yahfantafooty/unknown3.mp3

In between there are hints that it may be a
 religious station. There is
a reference to Senor Jesu Cristo

Thirty minutes later I was hearing YVNG Ondas del
 Mar, but I'm certain
the unknown station is not YVNG.
