Hi, I tried to listen to Radio Mada Internationale Sat-Sun, but haven't been successful so far. On Saturday at 15.30 UTC I made the following band scan around their proposed frequency of 15670 kHz: 15610 WEVN, S 4 15620 Deutsche Welle in Russian, S 3 15630 Voice of Greece, S 4 15640 Just noise 15650 Radio Miraya FM, S 3 15660 Channel Africa, African songs, S 3-4 15670 Family Radio in Hindi, S 3 15680 Bible Voice, English, S 4 On Sunday 15670 kHz was silent 15.30-15.32. At 15.32 a station signed on abruptly in the middle of a news bulletin in an unknown language. At 15.36 there was interval music played and followed the female with news commentaries. Abrupt sign off without identification at 15.40. So, where is Radio Mada in this? Hi, I got a QSL card from the Radio Hargeisa German address yesterday. On the backside lines they have lined out by hand all frequencies, but changed 7122 to 7145 kHz - so it was confirmed. Kun olen noita havaintoja työkseni tehnyt, on ainoa suht varmennettu yhteys seuraava: maanpinta-aalto komponentin (Ground wave, GW) voimakkuus kohtuullisella etäisyydellä olevasta majakasta riippuu ilman lämpötilasta – kylmällä GW on hiukan voimakkaampi. [HCDX] 1512 Irish/Dutch pirate
Hi all, This morn ing I heard the Irish cw music and also some oldies on 1512 kHz with very strong signals, unlikely the ones from the Irish Tyrone Community Radio. The programming was really very much alike = nonstop music. But at 06.14 there was an identification with too much echo and it was as I suspected, a Dutch pirate station, copying the Irish style of programming. The strength points to the Dutch pirate who often occupies the 1620 frequency of the Virgin Islands, which was really in the clear at the same time = without the pirate! Does anyone know what Dutch pirate I heard? I really want to complain! At 17.35 the transmission from IRIN started with Somali music, ID's etc... News items followed with Somalia mentioned several times. At 17.41: www-site and e-mail address spelled. At 17.44.30 the broadcast ended and there started and endless stream of tones and piips, like a mobile telephone... Reception was fair, but better than expected, as Spain was very strong. I heard them also the day after (Monday), but then REE started its transmissions at 17.30. The address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] didn't work. My email bounced back. But I also sent a report from their home page. Hi list, and especially the South-American folks! I (and other Swedish DX-ers) have heard a Spanish speaking station on 1510 kHz as late as until 06.00 UTC. The modulation is terrible and the audio can hardly be understood. The music is not at all LA, but consists of very monotonous pop, pop and even more pop. A short identification just before 06.00 (I think they closed down after that) sounded like Radio Mistrál or similar. Is there anybody nearby who can tell more about this operation? Peruvian? Ecuadorian? Or maybe Colombian (there is a Radio Cristal, Armenia in WRTH, but do they really play that kind of music?)? Dear Friends on the list, For those who have been involved in my problem about what is heard on 1044 kHz, I want to share the following message from Mauno Ritola to me. He had listened to my cassette recording: Hei Björn, I could transfer the speech parts to the computer, I attach it. I got yesterday a reply from an Algerian radio hobbyist: It's not Ethiopia. At the beginning of the recording the female presenter answers the phone by saying Allo which sounds very French. Then the man on the phone says his name (Ahmed) and she replies na'am Ahmed which is Arabic (yes Ahmed). The rest of the language I can't really identify but I'm confident that it's Morocco from what I can hear. Hi all, Thanks for trying to help me with this UNID broadcaster. Yes, Glenn, I believe that you have said it before. I am quite sure that it is the same station that I heard last February = one year ago. To Mauno: I haven't got any electronic equipment like Mp3, but an oldfashioned cassette recorder, where parts of the broadcast has been recorded by me. I haven't been able to check any details yet, because the connection to the suitable earphone are broken. I hope to be able to listen to the cassette at the end of the coming week. If there is anyhting useful I'll send it to you, ordinary posted. OK? Maybe Max's recording is better and I look forward to get an audio-file, which I am able to listen to via my computer. So, maybe together we can solve this mystery, which seems as mysterious as it was one year ago. [HCDX] Mekele on 1044 kHz?
Dear friends, On February 16th 2007 I heard an African station on 1044 kHz, playing HoA music. Although never confirmed by the station itself, several DX-ers found out that I had heard the new Mekele station in Ethopia. In the 2008 edition of WRTH there is a note about the station starting in January 2008. Yesterday night, January 18th 2008, I heard again a station with exactly the same programming style on 1044 kHz, lively HoA music and lots of phone-ins, at 21.50-later on, many times with better reception than the German MDR Info on the same frequency. At 22.00 there was a news bulletin in presumed Amharic. I believe that the station in Mekele is now on with regular programming. Hi all, Especially Glenn, who knows how to count mirrors and things, Just recently (Dec 6th at 15.10 UTC) I heard an UNID station on 8345 kHz, with interviews about Kosovo independence, about a document after a trial and about the long learning process after the independance. They compared the situation with the Netherlands, which was the only country name mentioned, besides Kosovo and Albania. The program was all in English and at 15.18.30 UTC it suddenly was cut off in the middle of a sentance. Dear Friends, I have to ask you for help again, especially those of you living in Southern Europe. I heard today (in fact on my 50th anniversary of DX-ing, starting with IBRA Radio, Tangier on the 2nd of December 1957) at 13.59-15.01 a Romanian station on 1602 kHz, which I couldn't identify myself. After cembalo (lute?) interval music at 13.59 and 14.59 it ID-ed like Radio Cinema Radio Zora Coipovic. On this hour it was a discussion about Familia. I have earlier heard both Radio CNM and Radio Micul Samaritean on the frequency, and maybe Cinema stands for CNM, but it sounded like a vowel at the end of the word - and all the time I listened to the UNID I heard choir music in the background, which CNM use to have! So to my question: Something new or what is it? Hi, When searching for VOIRI English programme, aiming to listen to an interview with yours truly in the Mailbag program, I didn't find them on the scheduled 6265 kHz via Sitkunai, but on 6225 kHz via unknown transmitter (maybe Sitkunai as well?). Not too good reception, so I changed to their own scheduled frequencies from Iran, i e 6010 kHz. This morning (Oct 4th) at 03.15 UTC I listened to both 630 (Vigra) and 675 (Röst) with quite good reception, Vigra interfered by the Romanian and Röst by the Dutch station. I have got many suggestions, but they all point in various directions (mostly to Morocco, although some of you says that you hear Morocco as well as the other station!). Hi all, Can you please help me to find out what I am hearing on 5050 kHz every day 15.00-16.30 UTC? There is one strong Chinese and sometimes possibly another Chinese, but after 1500 hours and time signal pips, seemingly one of them signs off and/or starts playing nonstop music, soft pop of ballad type always in English and only very seldom very wellknown melodies. It goes on for an hour and continues after time signal pips at 16 hours with the same style of nonstop played music and no announcements or identifications. After 16 hours there are lots of QRM from pulses and RTTY. I think that I heard Vietnamese from the other Chinese. Maybe it is the Chinese, playing this kind of music nonstop, but maybe it is something else. I believe it is too strong to be Humpty Doo, although I would like to have it there! One day it was down to 5049.6 and then I thought of that, but the last few days it has been very close to 5050 kHz. Any help to solve this is welcomed Best wishes for a Merry Christmas to you all! At 20.00 a news bulletin by a male voice, followed by another news bulletin by a female voice, probably in another language. I heard Zimbabwe mentioned many times, so I think its them. What do you think? Very bad at the beginning, but up to S 3 around 20.00. Hi all, I have got a nice reply from Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction (sSIRI) Project. This EDC project is located in Kenya with the postal address: 28 Mugumo Road, P O Box 25010 00603, Lavington, Nairobi. They have sub offices in places in Southern Sudan where their staff monitor students and teachers response to the program. VT Merlin is their provider and the signals come from a transmitter in Russia. There are plans to boost the broadcast through Egypt but this is not yet decided. At the moment the broadcast is halted as schools in Southern Sudan have closed for holidays. They will resume broadcasts on May 8th, and there might be new frequencies then. They have promised me to give me the new times and frequencies as soon as decided and I promise to forward this information to you! [HCDX] Sligo and Radio World
Hi all, Sligo European Radio from the countryside of Ireland was heard, according to planned schedule, at 08.00 on Sunday, March 12th. The frequency was 9330.9 kHz and the reception quality was very bad. After 10 minutes it was gone. They have already replied with a very beuatiful QSL card with a cow, filling all the space. Nice appearance indeed! Radio World, the DX-programme from Chennai, broadcast via AIR in Bangalore was also heard on Sunday, March 12th, at 11.30-11.45 on 13710 kHz. Many DX-tips. I was trying for new Libyan clandestine Sowt Al-Amel and heard some Arab music far back in the background and also a lot of jamming from time to time. My guess first was that the music station was something intended to make interference to the Libyan clandestine, but why jam as well???
