Re: [H] PATA >> SATA
You're limited to what the PC can see, it is "seeing" a PATA drive, so unless it supports PATA drives of 1TB it won't see the entire drive. It's fun running converters. I've put an mSATA > SATA > PATA setup before for giggles. It worked, but limited by the PATA architecture. [H] PATA >> SATA
If you use a PATA to SATA convertor to run a SATA drive in a PATA USB2 external drive, are you still restricted to the PATA controllers size limitation? i.e. can you put a TB SATA drive on a USB2 PATA >>SATA external drive? Has anybody tried this?
Re: [H] Pata->Sata converters?
No I chose to drop down to 2 PATA devices rather than pay $50 for FW2PATA bridge, just didn't need the extra drive local that much! ;) Only point was if you're going to convert with FW, USB, SATA to choose from I'd advise in that order especially if it's lower-than-sata-bandwidth devices. Still all XPsp3 here also, when I find the time I will upgrade the 2K DC to 2003... DHSinclair wrote: j., OK! You went to FireWire. I do get this. It is where we may/should go.
