[hlds] Nemod released a fix

2005-07-07 Thread Dabosman
Update:

Nemod released an update not long after the Source update that fixes the
load problem - although I think I noticed a problem with 'zombie' mode in it
(not positive but thought it crashed the server). Version 0.3.0.6. Grab it
from their website.

Also to pass along - update broke Mattie' Event Scripts too I believe. Not
sure on an update for that one ... But I'm sure it will be coming.

RE: [hlds] cs_assault map problem?

2005-07-07 Thread WayneH
The whole planet knows the issues, there is a large post about the bugs on this
map in the Steam forums.
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=threadid=310462

I understand that a map cannot be perfect when released, but does VALVe have a
test group [beta testers] that can find these issues before a global release?

[hlds] changelog

2005-07-07 Thread Clayton Macleod
wonder why they never mentioned the player model scaling change in the
changelog? Now player models are all out of proportion with every
single map out there. Funny that Valve would choose to change the
player model scaling rather than raising the 1st person point of view
origin to the correct height. Now everybody's about four and a half
feet tall.

[hlds] Setting sv_lan 0 while in offline mode causes crash.

I know people will think, why set sv_lan to 0 in offline mode? But I thought
I might aswell post the error I got:

Now, when setting sv_lan 0 on a listen server, vac2 beta will be loaded
automatically and the sv_secure cvar set to 1.
While in offline mode, setting sv_lan causes CSS to crash with this error:

'The instruction at 0x24191035 referenced memory at 0x00b39530. The
memory could not be read.'

Get kicked to desktop.

Just a query... Im guessing the sv_secure command is only a means for
server browsers to detect the presence of VAC?

And will this command be added to HL1?

[hlds] Problems after update

2005-07-07 Thread \[DinoBot\]Sidmind
I have been noticing several issues after last nights
update. I can't put my finger on any one of them so I
will just list them and see if others notice the same
thing. I have been checking the list and wonder why
more people have not said anything. so I guess I will
start.

My computer at home is working fairly good, but my
kids computer is having the same problem as several
members in the clan.

1) Users crash to desktop after connecting to the
server. No error is generated it just goes back to
desktop.. after MANY tries it eventually gets in the
server.

2) I noticed several people last night(two of which
played for several hours) then all of the sudden I
notice in the chat box that name disconnected due
to No steam logon
so I checked the log files on the server and sure
enough, three people were booted for the same reason
in about a two minute period,, Two of which I know and
had been playing all night.

3) FPS drops seem to be about 20 points lower.

4) Pings seem to be about 20 points Higher. my ping
on our server usually runs around 30-35 I have not
been able to get below 50 since the update.

5) things seem a little chopier than normal, probably
related to items 3,4 on the list.

Thanks Kevin

Notes about servers:

Dedicated server W3K, located in Dallas at co-location
facility

two SRCDS servers running 1-18 man and 1-10 man.
CPU usage was around 60% with both servers full (Dual
1ghz p3's 1gb ram)

and I did do a -verify_all on both servers several
times last night.

Re: [hlds] Alfred, first person bug fix?

2005-07-07 Thread Dagok

Well I don't know anything about this Spec bug he is refering to, but how
about a fix for the other First Person PoV bug where the camera drops to
crouch height?

This happens alot, where you press crouch then bump into something, release
button and the model stands up, but the camera doesnt move with it. This
also happens just if you are running along at standing height and bump into
walls or objects and your camera just drops to crouch height.

In both cases pressing jump or crouch will return the camera to proper
position. If this is related to the Spec camera bug I do not know.
This bug has existed for a long time now, 3 or 4, maybe even 5 months.
There has been plenty of complaints about it on the Steam forums and I'm
sure you have received Bug Reports ingame regarding it.

So can we please get a status on this problem? I think alot of people
expected it to be fixed with the big update on Wednesday...and unfortunately
it was not.

thanks,
Dagok

   3) FPS drops seem to be about 20 points lower.

   4) Pings seem to be about 20 points Higher. my ping
on our server usually runs around 30-35 I have not
been able to get below 50 since the update.

   5) things seem a little chopier than normal, probably
related to items 3,4 on the list.

   Thanks Kevin

   Notes about servers:

Dedicated server W3K, located in Dallas at co-location
   facility

two SRCDS servers running 1-18 man and 1-10 man.
CPU usage was around 60% with both servers full (Dual

and I did do a -verify_all on both servers several
   times last night.
