[hlds] Banlist is empty again

Hee guys,

I have a really strange thingy (bug?). I have multiple gameservers. 2x tf2
and 3x css. But on 1 of my Tf2 server and 1 of my css server the banlist is
empty everytime. I mean, if I ban a person (through mani admin (css) and
sourcemod (tf2)) they actually get banned and cant connect again. If I check
the banfile in a few days some banlist files are just empty. 

There is nobody cleaning the banlist file. That I know for sure... but still
its empty after a few days. The strangest thing is that this problem is not
on all servers. 

Hope you guys can help me with this problem :)

 i was sent this email at 2008-4-26 and 2008-5-5, but i haven't got any
reply.

Can Valve consider add HUD messages in CS:S  DOD:S in client side?

like cs 1.6, it can display any colour message on client screen at any
position.

HL2 DM already have HUD messages display, but why remove in CS:S  DOD:S?

I had hear about font definition in HUD messages, but HL2 DM haven't that
problem?

Also, CS:S have a Center HUD message, so i think it not a font definition
problem.

In cs 1.6 HUD message can provide many informations,effects to client and it
very powerful. Although, CS:S include HintText, it can't send large
information, change the colour, display message in any loction on the
screen.

Finally, can Valve reconsider to add HUD messages in CS:S  DOD:S in client
side?

Make sure that neither

writeid

nor

writecfg

are in your server.cfg or autoexec.cfg

Tnx for the quick reply. I have removed from 1 server the writeid out of the
server.cfg. So I hope that will be fixed on that server.. anyway.. the
server mather the most isn't solved with your solution. I cant find any
writeid or writecfg in the server.cfg file (or other cfg files). Personally
I think it because the program hlsw... but I cant confirm that for sure!

What's wrong with the say commandos/advert methodes from sourcemod/mani
admin? They work great on our server! Think sending mail to valve is
useless, because this is more a thingy for sourcemod/mani admin.

If someone reads and then forgets to write the banlist on HLSW then bans 
won't be saved on map change, if they hit write before loading the 
banlist then the banlist will be completely emptied, if this is the case 
then your admins need some education.

Valve should really add the AMX style menus back to HL2DM. The code is 
inside, it just needs to be activated in a .res file.

But yes, Valve should really add support for those two VGUI messages to 
all Source games.

But Csay messages can be abused by server admins, I mean there's nothing
worse than seeing green text show up on your screen. It might cause people
to go crazy.

It was purposely removed at some point in the creation of CS:Source.  I've
had correspondence with a couple Valve employees regarding this issue, and
I'm confident they will not be fixing the missing font definition.

HL2DM have CenterPrintText, why no purpose in HL2DM? because Hl2DM less
player play? or CSS support 32 slots?

One person told me they would get the fix in an upcoming update, but I was
later told that it would actually not be included (no reason was given).

Quotes like this may give you some idea why:

We are more concerned with giving people consistent gameplay rather than
any specific cheat problem. You would be amazed at the number of people that
get confused (i.e email us complaining) when joining a HL1 based server with
some of the noisier mods (I am looking at the warcraft3 superhero mod

I dunno what the problem is, but I know it's not plugin-based as I have
removed those entirely and that was not the issue. The platform is Gentoo
Linux, so that shouldn't really be an issue either. I just gave up and fixed
it myself. =P

it mean CenterPrintText won't be include in next update?

they complain noisier mods? is mods or hud message noisier?
after valve remove CenterPrintText, no people complain anymore?

people have a chance to join or left if they don't like the server.

And i found that many many HL1 base mod plugins(amxmodx) used hud message, i
can sure if there are no hud message in any HL1 mods, those plugis won't be
develop(most plugin provide many message).

You can think about if completely remove(modify ClientScheme.res won't
recover) hud message forever in HL1 base server, you can see how many
plugins and server will broken or close, may be valve don't care.

there are only 2 ways to send large message to players in CSS  DODS,
HintText  chat area.
they are limit on size, position and color, that why we need hud message.

accroding sourcemod plugins(no eventscript, because suck). most plugins
puepose are functional, rank,ban,admin system.
i only found few plugins mods, such as zombiemod(CSS)  HL2:DM Role-play(
http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=68386). the second one is
using hud message. there are no way to do there is CSS or DODS without hud
message. i am rigth?

suggest add a command to let people on/off hud message, like
cl_allowhudmessage 0/1
