Re: [hlds] Master Server List Issues - Can you help me?

2015-11-25 Thread 3Turtles

I think i managed to fix it.

It looks like my servers were trying to submit to the wrong master
server list. So added the following in 3 files (autoexec.cfg,
server.cfg and sourcemod.cfg):

setmaster enable
setmaster add 208.64.200.65:27011
setmaster add 208.64.200.39:27011
setmaster add 208.64.200.52:27011
heartbeat

Thanks for everyone's help. It helped me pinpoint where the problem was.

For what it's worth, all my infrastructure is on VMware and my servers are
registering fine in the server browser, so seconding that it is probably
not your infrastructure.

Re: [hlds] Master Server List Issues - Can you help me?

2015-11-24 Thread E. Olsen
Honestly, this could just be a symptom of a larger problem with the server
browser itself. Our TF2 servers appear fine in the "Internet" section of
the browser as long as you select the "us-east" drop down, but they do not
appear in the general internet (i.e. "ALL servers") at all anymore, no
matter what we set "sv_region" to. (they also appear find in the user's
favorites, and are all in good standing, etc.)

I'm not sure is it is the underlying infrastructure that is simply
overwhelmed at the number of servers at this point, or if there are some
bugs in the system that allow some servers to simply get "passed over" for
whatever reason, but this is a big problem in TF2 as well.

[hlds] Master Server List Issues - Can you help me?

2015-11-24 Thread 3Turtles

BASIC INFO
Server OS: Windows 2012 R2 x64
Processor: Intel Xeon E3 1245v2 (Quad Core)
Ram: 32GB
Game(s): Modular Combat
Start Up Command: -console -game modularcombat +map dm_runoff -ticrate
66 -pingboost 2 -secure +ip 167.114.107.200 +port 27015 +maxplayers 16
+exec server.cfg +rcon_password PASSWORD

Admin Mods: Metamod Source, Sourcemod

NETWORK AND BANDWIDTH INFO
Bandwidth: 116MB Download, 27MB Upload (Datacenter says its 1Gb connection)
External IP: 167.114.107.200 to 167.114.107.203
Opened Ports: UDP: 26900-26903, 27015-27016, 27020, 27030-27031

I recently moved my dedicated server (rented from datacenter) to VMWare
ESXi and the game servers are in a virtual machine running Windows 2012
R2 x64. They appeared on the server list fine when the box was just
running Windows, but in the VM they dont. Changing back isn't an option
either.

I've tried the following with no success:

 * Disabling the firewall (Temporarily for duration of test)
 * Typing heartbeat in console and server.cfg
 * Various sv_region settings
 * Fresh install with nothing custom (no configs, metamod or sourcemod)
 * Setting sv_master_legacy_mode to 0 and 1
 * Setting sv_master_share_game_socket to 0 and 1

Oddly, it does appear that its making a connection to the Steam servers
because VAC works and i see the following on startup:

|Using 'steambeta1:27013' CSER server!
Connection to Steam servers successful.
  VAC secure mode is activated.|

Aside from this problem, the server appears on people's favorite list
and they can connect to it fine.

Any idea what's happening? This is particularly bad because i host the
official servers for the mod.

Re: [hlds] Master Server List Issues - Can you help me?

2015-11-24 Thread 3Turtles
It's not running in lan mode. I have sv_lan 0 in server.cfg and i just
verified via rcon that its 0.

There's only 3 or 4 other server's for this game so the server list
isn't being overloaded. Is valve phasing out support for listing
servers using Source 2007?

I'm not simply refreshing my server browser list to see if its being
listed, im using a php script that queries the master server list and
shows me ips of every server. The server never displays :( It's not the
mod itself either as i can run a test server from home and it shows up
on the server list fine. Something is happening on the server, i just
don't know what or how to fix it :-/

[hlds] Master Server List

2009-12-10 Thread Jerod Bennett
Hey gang,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but googling just isn't helping me out.

I have a new TF2 server up. You can see that it is available via this link.

http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?search=jerry

However, it doesn't show up in the Steam Server List. I'm pretty sure this is
because the server is behind a Firewall, but I thought I'd ask for any tips
here.

The server has a local IP of 10.10.10.10 and an external IP of 70.169.247.109.
My firewall is doing a 1 to 1 IP route for this server in our DMZ so any
traffic to that external IP is directly routed to the local IP.

So is there a way for my server to inform the master servers that it is really
on it's external IP?

Thanks for your time.

Command line option: +ip x.x.x.x (could be -ip)

Your server won't show up on the Master Server list if you're viewing it
from the same IP because Gabe knows that you're trying to cause an
infinite loop.

Forgot to add:

1. If your friends can see it in the Internet tab from other computers,
it's announcing properly.
2. The server will appear on your LAN tab instead.

I'm dumb because I forgot to add that originally, I was too hyped

Doing that causes the server initialization to fail, as it can't bind to the
external ip because it doesn't exist on the server.

Also, disable any map-specific (cpmaps.cfg, ctf_well.cfg, whatever) config

[hlds] Master Server List

2008-06-22 Thread Clyde cide
Hi,

Since the update my servers have not shown up in the master server list. My
server have stayed full but still not in the list. I also see that the over
all list appears to be down some what. I am wondering if any one knows about
this or is experiencing it themselves. I did run the server update twice to
make sure I didn't miss anything.

Thanks

Re: [hlds] Master Server List

2008-06-22 Thread Scott Tuttle
I was off the list found it was because of sv_tags

I fixed that. Was on the list. Now appears I am off the list again. Does
changing the server name make you have to do heartbeat?

What is so hard about just returning a list of ip addresses to the client?
It is not like my ip address changed.

Refresh the list once get 895 servers. Refresh again get 905. Refresh
again get 915.

Come back a few minutes later refresh get a low number like 898. Refresh
again get higher numbers. Rinse repeat. Something doesn't seem right with
this I understand servers can go down. Or maybe it is because of map
changes. Anyways I tried heartbeat. Our server doesn't show on the list at
all right now and I have no sv_tags.

Your internet speed setting in Steam might be set too high. If your
router/modem can't handle the amount of connections going out you won't
get the entire list of servers. Try setting your internet speed to 56k

Re: [hlds] Master Server List

2008-06-22 Thread Kevin Ottalini
A lot of routers have an internal firewall that can't keep up to the traffic
(in addition to the small forwarding table that many routers have).

I found that I had to disable the firewall in some routers in order to get
them to have any server query performance.

If things work ok in DMZ mode or when you totally bypass the router then you
have a good indication of where the problem is.

If you change the Steam rate, you must exit Steam and run it again for the
new setting to take effect.

[hlds] Master Server List

2007-06-14 Thread Caesar Engroba
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Hello Everyone!

I seemed to have found something interesting and I'm wondering If other
people have noticed or if it's just me...

The problem began when users were complaining of no one joining their
servers, which I believed to be normal when a new server was created and
just put on the Valve master list. These things just take time. Right?

However, upon further investigation I began to notice users who had an
IP Address of 7X.X.X.X where a lot more popular fairly quick compared to
others with different IPs (Such as 204.X.X.X or 216.X.X.X, etc) I fired
up Steam and refreshed my list, sure enough the first 1000 or so started
with the ip of 7X.X.X.X!! Now, I know not all of them start with a 7 but
the majority of them do.

I asked some of my friends located in different parts of the country
(USA) and they reported the same! This can't be a coincidence.

This clearly puts anyone with a different IP to a disadvantage. Out of
(Millions?) of users that use Steam to browse for CS, CS Source, etc
games who actually goes and Sorts their game servers? I do however I can
assure you most people don't, they just want to browse and find a game
quick.

I am interested in what other people think about this, maybe with enough
commotion we can get valve to fix this...

Thanks!

PS. If this issue has already been discussed please forgive me, I
quickly skimmed through the mailing list and found nothing related.

FYI, this has been discussed in the past. It's because the steam browser goes
for IP's close to your IP first (numerically). From what I remember, they were
working on one that goes for geographically closest IP's first, instead of how
close the logical address is.

Apparently they're working on a system based on geographical location, this
has been discussed before, though...by myself and a few others, due to our
2xx IP's being so far down in the list :)

No idea on ETA though, we'll have to see if Alfred can give us a heads-up.

I don't think it is on purpose. It has to do with the ip addresses. If
the first digits of the dotted quads are two digits then it is a higher
level network address which usually translates to faster servers.

I have checked all my router setup already and still does not show.
Does it has to do with the SV_LAN 1 only? IS there any other thing i must check?
Thanks

[hlds] Master Server List Problems

2005-01-10 Thread Brandon Dumont - MWEB
Hi all (best wishes for 2005)

I am unable to retrieve any master servers list information from steam
regardless what game type I query by!

Everything else seems to work fine i.e. getting content form the content
servers doesn't seem to be a problem.

Does anybody have a finite list of master servers I could trace route to
and/or a definitive list of ports I need to have open?

Thanks in advance

/Brandon
