Re: Temporary dataset name qualifiers
W dniu 2011-09-27 00:34, Tony's Comcast account pisze: I should have been a bit more illustrative. 'ddname' in each case can have any value such as SYSUT2, SORTOUT, SASOUT, whatever. Whatever the value is, I use it consistently asSORTOUT, etc. The purpose in choosing a quasi-real is for debugging jobs with many steps that might abend after several have completed successfully. In the messages you have stepname and ddname. That's enough to identify dataset. You can also add name as you wrote. If you want to look at the dataset, you have to remember that after job termination all temporary datasets are deleted. In such case (temp dataset inspection) usually you use permanent datasets instead. So, I still see no reason why should I care about real dsn. Instead of the above I would like to have extent and size information in the joblog. Re: Security Certificate error message at IBMLINK
I also opened a Feedback PMR# 40016,499,000 in IBMLink. I would encourage everyone who is seeing this to put in a Feedback using IBMLink Feedback or SR till this is resolved. This is basic certificate management off the rails. An SSL certificate expired for 3 days is still being served to customers to validate the web interface. I don't see this as any inherent problem in IBMLink, RETAIN or the application just a process failure that an expired certificate was not replaced on the web site with an updated one prior to expiration. As an aside IMHO most of IBMLink is not needed 24x7 just the bits that support problem determination and resolution ETR (now is 24x7 via SR), SIS, and SRD (now is pretty high availability also using ShopzSeries). Would I pay more for SoftwareExcel to have the remainder of the IBMLink applications 24x7 probably not... and it doesn't matter where they are hosted as long as they provide the desired function with appropriate availability. First, what is AXR? Second, to define the console to CICS you can either use auto-install for consoles if set up or better yet, Just define a TERMINAL entry for it with RDO filling in the appropriate fields pertaining to consoles. 11270 15:40:03.10 *AXT04D1 0290 F ZPRD111Z,'CEDA I G(ABCD)' From this it looks like console AXT04D1 has already been defined to MVS. Antitrust settlement over Big Blue's big iron nears
Antitrust settlement over Big Blue's big iron nears IBM agrees to supply commitments to other firms Big Blue has almost settled its differences with the European Commission over the supply of mainframe spare parts to third-party maintainers. The EC launched an antitrust probe into IBM on its own initiative, alleging that Big Blue was keeping potential competitors out of the maintenance services market for its System z servers by restricting or delaying access to parts that only IBM had. IBM has now committed to the expeditious availability of certain spare parts and technical information to third-party maintainers in the EEA, on reasonable and non-discriminatory terms and conditions over a period of five years, the commission said. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09/20/commission_asks_for_feedback_on_ibm_commitments/ Plus... Re: VOLCAT under ECS
Mark - I guess that might depend on the configuration. We use individual VOLCATs for each of our volume ranges which are unique to each system so I never even considered it given that the individual volume entries are sporadically referenced at best. I suppose if a single VGENERAL is used for all volume ranges along with the library entries, it might be something to look at. Re: Looking for recommendations for web hosting
I'd say your root issue is spam/malware filters. I'm seeing very large numbers of false positives on my personal email. But I know to check the filter frequently, many don't. My email service uses Postini, which at one time was said to be the best. I'm seeing false positive / false negative rates approaching 100% on occasion. I'm having to check the filter first almost every time I check email. The miscreants seem to own email. Don't know what we can do except to somehow manage to that. Many filters put suspicious email in a holding area and allow you to review its decisions. Perhaps that may be something for you to consider. -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu] On Behalf Of Steve Comstock Sent: Monday, September 26, 2011 11:06 AM To: IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu Subject: Looking for recommendations for web hosting I put up our website way back in 1998. From that day to this it has been hosted by Verio. Service has been OK. But lately there is evidence I am not getting all my emails. We get most. But from time to time I hear from someone who has sent me an email and it has never gotten to me. I have lost some business and some personal emails that I wanted to see. The Verio support staff have been giving me runarounds and false promises and lies. I've had enough. So I need to find a new web hosting company, and I'm looking from recommendations from the list, especially from those of you who run small businesses, for good web hosting companies. Requirements include: * Support staff in the U.S.; I am tired of not being able to understand the support people; and I want to encourage companies that hire Americans * Host on UNIX or Linux (actually, host on z/OS or Linux on z would be cool, but I don't think I'm going to find that); not Windows * Ability to run CGIs; support of some common web languages (php, perl, etc.) * Support for some relational data base * Affordable; NOTICE: I did _not_ say cheap. I think we must all start to change the mentality that price is the only criteria. To get value you must pay a fair price. (Actually, if corporations would start to act like they understand this, we would see some improvement in the economy quickly, I believe) * Like to have unique IP address that could host multiple domains. I'm off to run some errands, but if anyone has some recommendations, please send, em to me. You can reply on list or off list. Re: Looking for recommendations for web hosting
According to my very limited research/experience, many (most?) spam filters do not acknowledge suspected spam in any way. And that makes sense as any reply will inform the spammer of the legitimacy of the email address, making it more valuable and thus subject to stepped up attacks. Yes, I agree that I am wondering why I pay for the crappy service I am getting. The service does stop about 90% of the virus payloads, which does help a little in that I might accidently open one. I could be wrong, but I don't think that STCs normally don't do ACCTNUM checking. You may have an IEFUJV, IEFUJI, or IEFUSI exit doing that. You need to check the access list for the XCM1PT profile in the ACCTNUM class to be sure that OMVSKERN (or whatever) has the proper access. Upgrade java 1.5 to java 1.6 - Clarification
Hi Experts, Currently we are in process of implementing CICS webservices, so our current CICS version is 4.1. For this POC, CICS 4.1 needs a java version of 1.6 and above, but in our shop our java version is 1.5. Re: Upgrade java 1.5 to java 1.6 - Clarification
From my experience, you can install more than one Java at a time. I always did with SMP/E - no hassle. Differentiation is through mount points in HFS beneath '/usr/lpp/java'. For example, you can have J1.4 , J5.0 , J5.0_64 , J6.0 and J6.0_64 in '/usr/lpp/java'. Starting with Java 5, there was a difference between Java name and version/release counting. The Java named Java 6 has version/release 1.6. In HFS the mount points are J6.0 for 31 bit and J6.0_64 for 64 bit implementation. The Java instance ( i.e. the HFS path) is addressed with Unix symbols like $JAVA_HOME and $CLASSPATH -- typically set in the profile file concatenation or using the corresponding SYS1.PROCLIB(JVMPRCxx) member. For CICS it should work similar. You put the symbols into your CICS JVM Properties Files. These are also HFS files referenced by JVMPROFILEDIR system initialization parameter. Explanation on this I found in the CICS TS4.1 Information Center. Receiving RSU on z/OS 1.10
Hello, While receiving the RSU I had faced space issue, so I tried creating spill dataset for SMPPTS dataset. Initially my SMPPTs dataset was in Md 9 volume but it run out of space issue with RC 12 and ( Abend E37-04). After that I initialized Mod 3 volume and created SMPPPTS1 dataset. I also made entry in global zone DDDEF for SMPPTS1 dataset. but even after that When I run Receive job, It run out of space issue with RC 12 and ( Abend E37-04). so I initialized one more SMPPPTS2 dataset in Mod 3 volume and made entry in Global zone DDDEF. but this time receive job completed with RC 04. But I see the warning message GIM24801WNO SYSMODS SATISFIED THE OPERANDS SPECIFIED ON THE RECEIVE COMMAND. to resolve this issue.
