Engine increase on the 2097
We are turning on 1 engine this weekend to one of our processors; we are going from a 2097-604 to a 2097-605. Our IBM CE says that it will not need a Power-on-Reset (POR). Re: Acceptable paging
We have a z/10 and this test lpar had 11G of real memory. IBM is loaning us 16G of real memory so now we have 27G of real memory. We had 3 mod-9 page datasets and after message broker started we had to add 4 additional mod-9 page datasets. We do have IMS, CICS, and DB2 running on this system. When this message states that the primary rate exceeds the specified function, ensure that the DASD fast write option is on for the volumes associated with the function. XRC
We are getting cache spikes (100%) while doing a flashcopy from secondary to tertiary dasd (in the same frame) in our XRC environment. The spikes cause a suspension of the mirror. Hitachi says they don't see anything unusual, IBM says the backup is on the secondary controllers and the copy task runs twice as long on the Hitach (USP-V) as they would expect. Does anyone have any experience with XRC on Hitachi that might benefit us? Our primary is a USP-1100 and the secondary/tertiary is USP-V. Insert tapes in a TS3500 without a barcode
We are trying to insert a server/pak tape 3592 into our TS3500 library, and the accessor is picking it up without a barcode. We followed the manual (redbook), and the accessor should not pick it up. Do we need to set something in the box? Thank you. Inserting cartridges without a barcode label You might receive cartridges from a software vendor, another company, or even from IBM that have standard label (SL) formats but no barcode labels. This special situation needs a particular procedure. The following example describes the insertion of a cartridge with an SL of YX0100: 1. First, you must verify that this VOLSER is not defined within a VOLSER range in the TS3500. 2. Insert the cartridge in the entry station. The accessor will not pick the cartridge because of the missing barcode. 3. Use your Web specialist function to select Manage Cartridges → I/O Station. You will see only one cartridge with unknown status. 4. Select the cartridge and select Fix Unknown Volume Serial. 5. Enter VOLSER=YX0100 and the type (JA, JJ, and so forth).
