Peter,

The ISPF QUERYENQ service also truncates, if I counted correctly, at 62
characters.

For those who have lost track of what tools can do what, so far only MXI
G2 displays the whole rname. Thanks Rob.

Is there a way *YOU* (as an application programmer) can do it - tough

There are no doubt tools on the cbt - they aren't that hard to write.

Simplest answer is to use a D GRS,RES=... (operator) command -
although I have been berated in the past by another on this list for
suggesting such a thing is even possible for a non-sysprog. In any
shop with my hand on the tiller, I would need persuasive evidence to
restrict such a display command.
It is certainly the most efficient means of determining ENQs from my
cursory inspection (on a GRS ring).

Of course I can, if I have to. The ISGQUERY macro provides all the info I need.

My point was that the precise tool that I need is already available in ISRDDN,
but unfortunately, the piece of the rname that I need to see is just beyond
the end of the display, and the display isn't scrollable. I was wondering if
anyone knows of another utility that would do the job.

TASID, a free tool maintained by ISPF Development, is probably the
simplest utility to do that (and more). Ask your sysprogs to download

Of course I forgot that ISPF has its own ENQ display. To find an enq I try
to RENAME the file under 3.4. This usually gets an exclusive ENQ and by
hitting the PF1 (HELP) key, I can usually see who else has the resource.

Are you looking for tools strictly under TSO? Or could you use a monitor
tool like TMON, Omegamon (Tivoli), etc? Of course there is always the MVS

Re: Can ISRDDN show the complete minor name of an ENQ'd resource?

2008-05-29 Thread Rob Scott
MXI 4.3 uses 52 character because I wanted to be able to cater for a 44-byte
dsname and 8-byte member name and as its screen width was limited to 80-bytes
that was the maximum I could go to if I wanted the other information on the
screen as well (jobname, sysname etc). Obviously these restrictions are
something that I removed in MXI G2 which can show the full Rname.

It is worth noting that D GRS,RES= truncates the Rname at 50 bytes (you get a
T character on the far right to indicate that truncation has taken place) and
I could not find any way of getting the full rname listed using the operator
command.

Did you try the following (I saw this at an earlier post)

  1. Go into ISPF 3.4
  2. At the side of the dsn type the command ISRDDN E
  3. It will give you the name of the job or TSO userid which has enq on the
dsn.

Hi David,

I have used the 'Display GDIF' command of the Computer Associates Multi-
Image Integrity ( CA-MII ) product to display the parts of the ENQ Resource
Name that other display commands don't display. For example:

F mii,D GDIF,ENQR=(SYSVSAM,PREFIX=rname)

Check the Unicenter CA-MIM Statement and Command Reference manual for
the total syntax of the command. The console output would look similar to
the following:

QNAME RNAMERequestor Typ
SYSVSAM P9SP.ATR.RRSTSTB.DELAYED.UR.TEST S=TSTB HOLDS EXCL
  PLEX.DATACATALOG.PROD1 O
