Re: Confusion on output of LISTC CAT

2006-06-21 Thread Lizette Koehler
The Catalog was created before the IMBED was removed. Any catalog created with
IMBED before then would still show it in the listing. If you apply the apar
OA10952 and then do the EXPORT/IMPORT the IMBED will no longer be in the
listing.

You can consider it an artifact from when the catalog was orginally created.

Thanks Mark, but I was referring to the Imbed parameter that was in the
Listcat of her Catalog.

IMBED is no longer supported, however there are data sets that were
created before we removed the ability to specify IMBED.

An EXPORT/IMPORT will remove the IMBED (if you have on APAR OA10952).

Thanks Mark. that is the answer I needed.

We are running z/OS V1.4 and this fits very nicely. We will be upgrading to
z/OS V1.7 by end of year. So I will probably just live with this anomaly for
now.

Mark,

Is the presence of the Imbed parameter an issue? Lizzette didn't
mention what level of Z/os she is running on.

Re: Confusion on output of LISTC CAT

2006-06-20 Thread Imbriale, Donald (Exchange)
See Appendix "Interpreting LISTCAT Output Listings" in "DFSMS Access
Method Services for Catalogs":

The statistics in the catalog are updated when the data set is closed.

Therefore, if an error occurs during CLOSE, the statistics might not be

valid.

If the data set has not been properly closed, the statistics are not

updated and will therefore be incorrect. Once the data set is properly

closed after a previous close failure, a LISTCAT of the data set will
show
these statistics as invalid. VERIFY cannot correct these statistics. To

correct these statistics, you can either use the EXPORT and IMPORT

commands or you can REPRO the data set to a new data set. When using

compressed VSAM data sets, REPRO should specify the REPLACE option to

ensure that the correct statistics are calculated.
