Does Any one Agree WIth Me (SSI UNDO)

.
In developing an SSI initialization routine, it would be useful to backout any
changes made.
i can release Storage in an ESTAE routine, but I can't "undo' any changes made
using IEFSSI macro -
I cant remove the SSVT ect . To me it would be helpful during development
if there was IEFSSI TYPE=BACKOUT,
so that any changes made in the SSI initialization routine relating to define
and initializing a subsystem would be backed out.
This would also be useful in a ESTAE routine.
Also being able to COMMIT the changes might also be useful.
.
I would like to here every ones comments/opinions -

Thanks for the technique. And I see I can use it to explore other products
(I tried UNIX and ISPF), from my favorite starting point:

Gil,

I earlier provided you a link to the same in the other topic.

https://www.mail-archive.com/ibm-main@listserv.ua.edu/msg137624.html

Also, in the PDF documentation it is divided as chapters and the web
documentation does not have that, but it is in the same chapter order as the
PDF. So here is the link to DFSORT Application Programming Guide

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/3.1.0?topic=guide-abstract-dfsort-application-programming

Now see the left panel which shows the subtopics within this book, and you can
see " EBCDIC and ASCII collating sequences" as one of the topics.

Excellent; thanks!

How did you find that? I tried to no avail with Google keywords:
site:IBM.com dfsort ebcdic collating seauence

And that page has a
Parent topic:
EBCDIC and ASCII collating sequences
but there's no parent-of-parent, so I wouldn't have been able to
start at the root of the volume and work down.

The table 109 you refer is referring to the EBCDIC table listed here.

the clarity, accuracy, or completeness of the information.
For more information, see How to send feedback to IBM.

Which hyperlinks to a page where I read:
IBM Documentation provides a “Was this

I surmise that I must do this on a web page containint the

Much to my embarrassment I did not test the same case.
After deliberately messing with the PROG list, replacing a comma with a period,
I could not respecify the PROG list split into two and had to respecify the
entire list in a single response...[sigh].
Fortunately enough, respecifying the entire list did not exceed 80 chars. (the
maximum)...

Re: 0C4 pic 11 in stimer exit on retry

2024-05-04 Thread Peter Relson
Was your recovery routine set within the IRB or by the mainline?

The reg 13 within the IRB is for the IRB and storage associated with an RB is
freed when the RB terminates.

If you "retry" you are retrying to the RB that set the recovery. Thus any regs
for retry should be ones associated with that RB.

Of at least as much importance: Show the data. Including the 8-byte
translation exception address.

Sorry, I only saw this post yesterday.
I've forced IPL to issue msg. IEA101A by changing IMSI char. from M to T in IPL
parameter.
First, I've specified SYSP=DW, because our LOADxx specifies 'SYSPARM DW'.
The list of SYSP suffixes must be completed on a single response and can't be
split.
Then I asked for a MLPA list split onto two responses, followed by a long PROG
list
split onto two responses too.
Here's how it went:

IEA371I SYS1.IPLPARM ON DEVICE 0A82 SELECTED FOR IPL PARAMETERS
  IEA246I LOAD ID DW SELECTED
  IEA246I NUCLST ID 00 SELECTED
  IEA519I IODF DSN = SYS1.IODF02
  IEA520I CONFIGURATION ID = OS390 . IODF DEVICE NUMBER = 0A82
  IEA091I NUCLEUS 1 SELECTED
  IOS128I IPL DEVICE: 00A80 VOLUME: A3RES1
IEA370I MASTER CATALOG SELECTED IS CATALOG.Z31A.MASTER
| IEA101A SPECIFY SYSTEM PARAMETERS FOR z/OS 03.01.00 HBB77E0
  R 0,'SYSP=DW,CONT'
  IEE600I REPLY TO 00 IS;SYSP=DW,CONT

 = "2"
= "1A"
 = "S0W1"

.
.
.
...and here are excerpts from SDSF's SYSP command showing the result:

 MLPA (00,DI)
