Re: ShopzSeries FTP password in the clear
I guess I don’t understand the problem. Yea, that password is in the clear, but it’s a IBM generated password for that one specific order, good for a few weeks, the entire order is removed anyway? The only time I use that method is when I order CBPDO product upgrades between serverpack upgrades. Even is using this method for regular maintenance, I don’t see as a problem, because once again, it’s a IBM generated, temporary password for that one specific order. _ Dave Jousma Manager Mainframe Engineering, Assistant Vice President david.jou...@53.com 1830 East Paris, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 MD RSCB2H p 616.653.8429 f 616.653.2717 -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU] On Behalf Of Kurt Quackenbush Sent: Monday, September 18, 2017 8:55 AM To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Subject: Re: ShopzSeries FTP password in the clear **CAUTION EXTERNAL EMAIL** **DO NOT open attachments or click on links from unknown senders or unexpected emails** On 9/15/2017 12:21 PM, Tom Conley wrote: > On 9/15/2017 9:41 AM, Richards, Robert B. wrote: >> My cyber security folks are asking me about why I am doing FTPs with >> the password "in the clear". Re: ShopzSeries SSL Connectivity Test
Our firewall guys tried a couple different things, and I guess we made some progress: Now the failure is FC0994 authServer: secure_socket_init failed with rc = 8 (Certificate validation error). You need the GeoTrust Global CA certificate (https://www.geotrust.com/resources/root-certificates/index.html) in the keyring used by the ftp client. That's the CA that signed the FTP server's cert and is required for the SSL handshake. Time to call Shopz Support, since we're trying to use the certificate they issued. The certificate works fine for RECEIVE ORDER over a non-SSL connection. I'm not sure what you mean when you say the cert works fine for RECEIVE ORDER over a non-SSL connection. Which cert are you talking about? The client certificate generated by Shopz? That's not used for the SSL handshake at all. The generated client cert is used simply to carry unique identifying information to the server, such as IBM customer number. Now, for the JOBNAME in the WTOR I specified the batch job name that I submitted. Should I specify FTPDn there instead? I.e., should I specify the job name of the FTP Daemon? Now all that remains is to get the last tidbit of error data to our firewall guys so they can allow the private (encrypted) data connection, and we should be in business. Time to call Shopz Support, since we're trying to use the certificate they issued. The certificate works fine for RECEIVE ORDER over a non-SSL connection. That was a grasping at straws gesture, based (partly) on the ass.u.mption that the CA that signed our client cert (Equifax Secure CA) would be the same CA that signed IBM's server cert. WNORG! It did seem odd specifying a personal key ring given that the connectivity test JCL included user and password commands, which seem superfluous if authenticating with a certificate. Re: ShopzSeries problem?
Ignore this post. After 60 minutes, it finally was available for download. Sent: Sunday, August 26, 2012 9:40 AM To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Subject: ShopzSeries problem? I submitted an order last Thursday morning for UK78546 and all day it had a status of Final Packaging. After 72 hours, it still indicated the same status. I deleted and re-ordered UK78546 and am now back in Final Packaging status for the last 30 minutes. Is anyone else experiencing difficulties ordering (this) one PTF? Bob - Robert B. Re: ShopZseries Change
There was a typing mistake on an early draft of the information, which was updated quickly and has not been propagated into further locations. It is correct on the link you had in your append now, the link I had in my append since the beginning, and even the newly released WSC Flash today. There must have been a refresh delay on your link location, but all is fine now. If this is a topic that you'd like to discuss at SHARE, I'm sure that several SHARE folks who are following this and would be happy to put this on table. If you wanted to go as far as to open an SHARE requirement, that would allow you to get a formal IBM response. Re: ShopZseries Change
Oh no, time to talk to the network team, which is always painful :D I think the first hostname in the table is wrong ddelivery03-bld.dhe.ibm.com. Looks like an extra d on the front. Worth noting that the new IP addresses are additional. The old IP addresses are still used for other delivery functions. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
