Re: [IMail Forum] IMail is standalone again???
Yep, haven't been keeping up. I too discussed this at length with our account exec at the time and was getting pretty much no where, as were many others. I knew of IMail being available to existing customers, but not new customers. This was when I pulled the plug on Ipswitch, had our webmaster remove all Ipswitch products from our website and swore to never deal with Ipswitch until IMail again became a standalone offering for new customers. After this I sold a bunch of SmarterMail installs (would have been IMail installs had Ipswitch not shot themselves in the foot). Have been pretty happy with SmarterMail, although I never thought it was as flexible as IMail and has a few quirks that drive people nuts. I'll probably keep selling SmarterMail for small customers that don't need anything spectacular (can't beat the price), but I've already started looking at IMail again. We are still running our initial install of IMail and it's still working great, so maybe I'll upgrade it and see what's what. Hi Jeffery, It looks like you missed some postings from this and last month ;-) Yes, it's true. IMail is available as standalone product. You can buy it two different flavors. If you own a subscription you can have it too. Am Mittwoch, 30. RE: [IMail Forum] IMail is standalone again???
They never really stopped if from being stand alone. ICS is a package deal. You are still have have been able to just get the stand alone copy of the imail server. I know what you are talking about and I went though it with their sales force over and over again. Before or shortly after the release of ICS they allowed you to just get the stand alone server. I don't rember them not selling the ICS alone as to many people complained about not wanting the ICS package just the stand alon mail server. RE: [IMail Forum] IMail is standalone again???
Hi Pip and Jeffrey, You are both correct... Last year, when Ipswitch started shipping ICS, we stopped selling IMail Professional altogether (new and Service Agreements were both discontinues). About one month after ICS shipped, we reinstated IMail Service Agreements but not IMail for new customers. So existing IMail customers could renew via a Service Agreement but customers looking to buy a new IMail standalone server or existing customers looking to purchase additional IMail licenses were not able to. With the changes announced yesterday, customers can now buy IMail Server (comes with the new web admin and web templates) at 5 user levels and IMail Service Agreements at 5 users levels. Hope this helps. bye for now, kg -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Mark Pipkin Sent: Wednesday, November 30, 2005 1:38 PM To: IMail_Forum@list.ipswitch.com Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] IMail is standalone again???
