[efloraofindia:109882] New google groups format

2012-03-04 Thread J.M. Garg
Hi,
Our Google group efloraofindia are finally in New Google groups format as
possibly are other google groups I am unable to go to the old formats.
Pl. see
http://groups.google.co.in/group/indiantreepix

It has compounded my problems I am unable to go to, say 2730, old thread/
topic as I used to go quickly earlier for updating efi site resurfacing
messages etc. as per earlier procedure as below:
Click on 'view all' in Discussions. Click in View by 'Topic list' Sort
by 'Latest message'. Click on 'Older' once to reach at
https://groups.google.com/group/indiantreepix/topics?hl=enstart=30sa=N.
Change 30 to any number say 2730
https://groups.google.com/group/indiantreepix/topics?hl=enstart=2730sa=N,
where one wants to reach at a point from where updating has to be started
alongwith Id requests re-surfacing.

Can anybody help me with this?

But hope you are aware that one sheet costs aroudn 32 Rs.
One Forestry suppliers also cards are available.
Please follow the link.

http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/icat/Cat63/full.asp?page=421
You can place the order online. I bought something online. It was good
experience.
The box of 100 sheets costs, 28 USD which is around 1300 INR. This sounds
cheaper than Pune one. Ofcourse there will be delivery charges.
Best wishes.

[efloraofindia:109922] Medicinal Plants and Holi Festival

2012-03-04 Thread Pankaj Oudhia
Dear Group Members,

After getting permission from moderators I am initiating this new
thread on Medicinal Plants associated with Holi festival. Please share your
views and celebrate holi in this way.

We are going to discuss from decreasing population of Bombax due to Holi in
Rajasthan to use of Bhang and its antidote in Holi festival.

From many years I am suggesting burning of obnoxious weed Parthenium
hysterophorus in Holika Dahan. Many residents are adopting this suggestion
and in this way keeping control over Parthenium population in surroundings.

Most of the Indians cities are affected by pollution as well as mosquitoes.
Plants like Blumea are present in our surroundings. Blumea is in use in
form of Herbal Cigarette in Traditional Healing since time immemorial.
Blumea leaf fumes are spread in patient’s room like Neem leaves specially
when patients suffer from respiratory diseases. Based on Blumea and Neem
like healing herbs I have prepared an herbal mixture and giving it to the
local committees free of cost in order to burn it during Holika Dahan. The
fumes help in managing mosquitoes and also good for lungs.

I was informed that in Rajasthan Bombax is closely associated with Holi and
Holika Dahan is considered incomplete without it. Due to this religious
importance Bombax population is decreasing at alarming rate. There are many
organisations working to protect Bombax.

The Traditional Healers having expertise in treatment of bone diseases
collect many herbs on the day of Holi. Vanda is one of these herbs. Parsa
Kauagodi means Vanda growing on Butea monosperma is collected once in a
year on this day. The Healers claim that on this particular day plants are
specially rich in medicinal properties. They eagerly wait for Holi for one
time collection of Vanda.

Let’s make this thread enriched with knowledge.

Some point worth checking out dear friends.

My first attachment was of 88 KB ... it got reduced (shows 24 KB in my
Gmail inbox; 32 KB at Group's page)
Second was about 250 KB ... it got reduced.(shows 60 KB in my Gmail inbox;
81 KB at Group's page)

All this got possible by posting from the Group's page at

It looks like posting from Group's page is worth a try.
