Dear Garg Ji and All
Can we plan a two day plant exploration programme in June 3rd or 4th Week.
The suitable destination is Chakrata. Around 300 Kms from Delhi. In a Hotel
we usually stay, 30 people can be accomodated. Approx expenditure per
person per day may be approx 1200-1400 including all meals morning evening
Tea etc.
2 or 3 days are enough for exploring nearby areas.
Thanks and Regards

Dear Garg ji,

I am not familiar with this plant. I sent this to a couple of my botanist

seem to be an Indian species. He says it could be an American or Arabian
species.

 Thank you Garg ji,
I do share your doubt. Not so much in leaves, but the sepals in our
flowers have needle like tips, which is missing in the BBP pic. The stamens
are also very different. Ten years back when I had tried to identify it,
not many images were available for comparison.
I would be happy to get the correct ID. Maybe it is *Rubus nepalensis*!

Subject: Colutea nepalensis - a new genus and species for eFI
 To: "J.M. Garg"
 Cc:

Looks like I am becoming a botanical 'twitcher'. Perhaps Mr Garg
can keep track of the number of NEW entries Dr Singh and I each make
 every month
 plus any other 'challengers'!

Not sure if the terminology 'birder' and 'twitcher' have been adopted
 in
 Indian ornithology?

These are the first quality images I have seen of this species Colutea
 nepalensis, which
is not something I have come across in the wild. There are records
 for Ladakh
by Dickore & Klimes but not Stewart who knew it in Kurram, Astor,
 Chitral though
at only @ 1500-2400m, which is a problem because, as far as I know, the
 lowest
part of Ladakh is c. 2700m.

There are several Coluteas in Pakistan such as C.armata found in
 Juniper tracts in Baluchistan.

 See:
 http://photos.v-d-brink.eu/Flora-and-Fauna/Asia/Pakistan-new/i-PC7fDff
and following 3 images incl. pods.

Marijn photographed his plants at a higher elevation than Stewart
records and he had no records
 for Baltistan or Ladakh.

Flowers of Himalaya, understandably does not cover this species, just
 C.multiflora from
Central & East Nepal. All Coluteas have inflated, bladder-like,
 papery fruits.

The genus is commonly known as 'Bladder Senna'.

 Best Wishes,

 Chris Chadwell

 *Campanula pallida* Wall.
 Syn: C. colorata Wall
All three species on which there has been enough discussion in our
group were named by N. Wallich, and obviously first illustrated in his
Wallich Catalogue, 1812, which being without descriptions were treated as
Nomen Nudum unless validated by author himself or some other author. C.
pallida Wall, was first validly published in Asiat. Res. 13: 375
 (1820), C. colorata Wall. in in W. Roxburgh, Fl. Ind. 2: 101 (1824)
and C. cana Wall. in Roxburgh, Fl. Ind. 2: 101. (1824). FBI treated
them under two species C. colorata Wall. (syn: C. pallida). However, beause
of being published earlier, C. pallida gets priority as accepted name over
 C. colorata.
The two species C. pallida and C. cana, both represented in
Western Himalayas can be separated as under as per Eflora of China:
 1. C. pallida: Stem single, rarely two or more; leaves hispid, lower
often with winged petiole, calyx lobes triangular to subdeltoid, hispid
 outside, often toothed.
 2. C. cana: Stems usually several from base; leaves white soft hairy,
lower not with winged petiole, calyx lobes subulate to narrowly triangular,
softly hairy outside, usually not toothed.
Here is C. pallida, photographed from Pahalgam, Kashmir, alt. 2400 m,
