Re: [Ipmitool-devel] Setting SNMP trap receivers
Is there a way to set the IPMI trap receivers with ipmitool 1.8.9? There the field for the SNMP community but nothing else. This is specific to Supermicro machines where their IPMIView tool allows to set three receivers (and their MAC addresses). For SNMP Alerting to work, you have to set up: # Event Filter Table entry - with wildcard or sensor specific # Alert Policy Table entries - one for each Trap destination, referencing the Event filter table entry (Policy number) as well as the Lan destination(s) (Destination Selector). # LAN destination Table entries (one for each Trap destination) Also make sure, that # Global PEF is enabled # Channel Alerting for the LAN channel is enabled. Some BMC's might help you in the process by providing a GUI to this (quite complex)configuration. Good luck, Holger - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. [Ipmitool-devel] Monitoring CPU temp on PE 1950 with IPMI
Hi List, I saw the same question on linux-Poweredge mailing list. Thought to forward the same to this list. I tried getting these values on a PE2950 box and faced the same issue. How can I enable (or can I?) CPU temperature reporting via IPMI on a Poweredge 1950. Processor is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5365 @ 3.00GHz. I see the value for ambient temperature OK but everything else is disabled: [EMAIL PROTECTED] mail]# /usr/bin/ipmitool -I open sdr type temp Temp | 01h | ns | 3.1 | Disabled Temp | 02h | ns | 3.2 | Disabled Temp | 05h | ns | 10.1 | Disabled Temp | 06h | ns | 10.2 | Disabled Ambient Temp | 08h | ok | 7.1 | 25 degrees C CPU Temp Interf | 76h | ns | 7.1 | Disabled Thanks, Krishnaprasad - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Ipmitool-devel] Setting SNMP trap receivers
Note that OpenIPMI provides a (relatively) easy way to configure this. Unfortunately, you have to learn OpenIPMI and that's more complex that ipmitool. -corey Liebig, Holger wrote: Is there a way to set the IPMI trap receivers with ipmitool 1.8.9?
