[IRCA] TAs and Alaskans
Like Nick mentioned earlier, 1575 was providing pretty good audio earlier in the evening. Right now, at 04:41, I'm listening to a Russian Orthodox church service in a native language on 850, Nome. As always very interesting programming. Not particularly strong, with some cochannel interference, but not too bad eitherWalt, from a very dark and wet Victoria (but at least it's mild at 9 deg C). ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] Radio Trackside New Zealand QSL + Info
I sent about four or five follow-ups in November for the summer DU Season and got my first reply today from Graham Stevens, Trackside Media Consultant. He QSLed their outlet on 1071 kHz. in Asburton (coastal South Island, just south of Christchurch.) I was DXing from Grayland, using the first generation Wellbrook Array and my G313e. He sent along an informative pamphlet on Trackside Radio in Kiwi Country. They simulcast on both AM and FM throughout NZ. Currently they have 9 AM and 10 FM on the North Island and 6 AM + 6 FM on the South Island... a total of 31 outlets to pretty well cover the country. From local 6AM to noon, they do a sports talk network BSPORT. The rest of the time they run live races, race commentary and race feature programs of thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing. Off track betting is the name of the game. Re: [IRCA] Weekend Update - WPBS 1040 ID'd FINALLY!
I dont think Atlanta "Radio Korea" is on any other stations ni the amrket. technically, there's nothing saying they have to do anything but shut the transmitter off. YOURE SUPPOSED to do a legal id at sign on and sign off, but that rule is seemingly never enforced. I know plenty of stations who cut off in mid sentence or mid song. Re: [IRCA] Daytimer WGMI-1440 on Late
No, a station does NOT have to use the night power or stay on all night. If they choose not to use night power, they must sign off at sunset.. or they can stay on past sunset at night pwoer and sign off whenever they wish. When I ran WABV, we signed off at sunset everyday, we were not capable of using our 27W.. it would've been utterly useless anyways Paul On Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 9:56 AM, HASCALL, DAVID CIV DFAS < david.hasc...@dfas.mil> wrote: > Correct me if I'm wrong but just because a station is authorized night > power, does that mean that they have to use it? WGNR 1470 Anderson, IN is authorized 35 watts at night but I have heard them sign off before LSS. I guess having that flexibility might be good. In JD's defense, Lee's logbook has them as a daytimer: 1440 WGMI BREMAN GA 2500 - NDA S. GSPL 73, Dave in Indy -- Message: 3 Date: Tue, 15 Dec 2009 05:22:20 -0600 From: "Paul B. Re: [IRCA] Arizona TPs for 12-16-09
That's a really GOOD day here out east Bill! ;-) And it wouldn't be at 1421utc either -- subtract about 3 or 4 hours. Today saw a return of some weak 'traces' ... as I call the ghostly vertical lines that fall from the top of a Perseus waterfall graph. 945 & 873 were the 'best' with some brief periods of 747, 828 and 972. It never ceases to amaze me how these traces go from totally absent to near audio in a very short time and then back down again. Nothing near audio level today and none of them would even be 'visible' without the 'Zoom' scale on the Persues. Have been 'tracking' 738 for a couple of months. It comes in best when 'pointing' west whereas the other Asian TPs come in best north. I'll bet it's Tahiti but I've been unable to get any audio so far. I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be a 'phantom' signal, produced locally, as I have on a few other freqs. Re: [IRCA] UNID 1330 Gospel........is WJSS Havre De Grace, MARYLAND???
"Rejoice 1330" is definitely my semi-local WJSS. They've been using that slogan for quite a while now. Hi Guys: I stuck with this one til 0100 EST and at 0050 EST I heard the following Station Promo for "The All New Rejoice 1330" with a Charity Turkey Hamper Program at the Church in "HAVRE DE GRACE"!!! Nice clear mention of Havre de Grace. Also heard a 410 AREA CODE phone number which pans out. Also the Abington or Abingdon I heard mentioned earlier is ACTUALLY...ABERDEEN...which is very close to HAVRE DE GRACE!! Soit's gotta be WJSS.which turns out to be a RELOG for me!! 73...ROB VA3SW Robert S. [IRCA] Arizona TPs for 12-16-09
Listened from 1350-1430 ut and conditions was better than yesterday. Yesterday I got no audio or carriers and after it warmed up I went out to check the antenna and found the antenna to be in good condition. Today I had carriers on 594, 657, 666, 693, 747, 774 and 873. The only audio was from JOUB-774 at 1421 ut which was just above the noise level for about one minute.
