[IRCA] Help with spanish on 1030
On 1030 Kc I have a spanish station playing calipso music as well as other Carribean style music. At 2315 there was a ID given by a man with a deep voice as, Radio National nothing else but music. Also there is a nother spanish station that fades in and out but I think that one is Cuba. There is no KDKA or WHO. I checked my old WRTH for 2001 and f ound there is a Radio National listed for Colombia. Anybody else hearing this??? [IRCA] WTAM being clobbered
At 2150 EWT, on 1100kc, I have two stations beating agenst each other. One is carring the Norter Dame game and the other has talk program about boxing then at 2200 they went into IRN USA news with the football game covered by the news station. The sports stations in not IDing! I believe that the football game is on WTAM. Anyone else hearing this? Not sure what all the fuss is over WPTF. As i write I am listening to WPTF. Granted, WPTF isn't very strong. They just did weather for North Carolina 2032 EWT. I've heard them too often the last couple of months to believe they've always been using their 1,000 watt night power. I can phase out KNBR quite easily here, but the problem then is getting past CJOB. Hi Robbie- My best QSL year or years were 1960 [just before I went into the navy] then there was 1967 [DXed the world on BCB from Sullavans Island, SC] then the year 1972 was a great year for DX from north Texas as well as QSLing. Heard stations from Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, and a lot Latin's. Majority are confirmed. My favorite QSL card is from KORL-650 Hawaii heard from Richardson, TX. I had just gotten home from work at Texas Instruments in DSallas, it was around 0400, and WSM in Nashville was off the air. There was island music was KORL. I wrote the station, and the engineer was great, he wrote me a long letter with the QSL card with a Hula girl on it+ a long letter. Another QSL letter I really liked was from Radio Trinidad, heard from Sulluvan Island, SC. They QSLed with a very nice letter. That was also the year my son was born, 1967. Haven't been to active in 20 years about going after a QSL. It is very possible. BUT I was trying to be nice. The only time I hear them is at sunset, and normally they are very good about signing off at sundown. This evening they were playing a B.B. Heard starting at 0100, VERY weak. All I could hear was the CW IDs which sounded like it was sent on phone key board, sweep tones and Christmas music from the last DX test. No voice IDs heard. Very ruff copy with lots of QRM.
