Re: [IRCA] BC TAs

2013-01-10 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Quite a number of interesting carriers (918 for example) earlier this
evening here in unexpectedly snowy Victoria , but the only audio
heard with on and off monitoring has been tastes of music and woman
talking on 963 just after 0500UT. By 0515UT, the Asiatic Russian on
234 was making itself heard, and I'm pretty sure that the good
carrier on 1287 is JOHR, still quite a way from local sunset there,
but 1269 with slightest audio traces seems to be European.

best wishes,

Nick

A weak carrier is also here on 1377 kHz (on just the modified ICF-2010, no

I just returned home from being out for the evening, and all the TA action
must be gone. I don't find any hets or 9 kHz signals at 0555 except a
presumed Tahiti on 738.

I would have suspected 1215 Absolute Radio would be in at least a het, as
it's their local SR right now, but not even a trace showing with the zoom

Work had me away for a few days and I just got back half an
hour ago. After that fabulous evening on Saturday I really didn't
expect things to be still hopping tonight, but indeed they are.Hate
to think what I missed while I was away! Tonight isn't up to Saturday's
standard, but certainly interesting. Highlights I've found thus far:

1548 - Voice of Russia in English from Moldova, and pretty consistent
over the last 20 minutes

1269 - Germany, with a very clear signal
1089 - Russian rather than the usual UK
1044 - man/woman talking
954 - man speaking, but too weak to determine language
963 - audio for a few minutes
864 - usually France, but sounds more like Egypt at the moment
855 - Spain and someone else
819 - man speaking over musical background. Likely Egypt again (a
phrase I never expected to be typing!)

711 - France

Interestingly 1215 isn't doing much, weakish audio at best.

and 1134 (steady 8) - had the Minidisc running for the duration.

Hets everywhere: 531, 594(whispy audio), 621, 639, 675 (whisps of audio),
693 (Sync lock on the E1), 801, and many, many more...

You missed some crazy stuff Walter --

Things were never like this in 1976 --
then it took a good receiver and a bigger antenna -
listening to a TA on the West Coast on a radio with a whip antenna
is insane - I could have easily pulled several of these with the E100 slider.

seemed Russian when a peak managed to get through my IBOC noise from 950.
702 is certainly interesting. I'm not getting a lot of signal there, but it
sounds interesting when it comes up. Looks like my 2nd signal on 855 could
be Romania, as I found a // on 1152. for a few minutes.
Denmark is doing very well with their interval signal for 0345 sign-on.

Good suggestion on 963 Nigel; I hadn't realized this. I'll check my
recordings. Unfortunately there doesn't seem any parallels for the supposed
Estonian programming now.

Never got 702, though at one point it sounded like Arabic flute mx. And no
hope on Denmark next to 1070,hi.

Plenty that got away tonight. No firm ID on 819, and no luck getting a
webstream.

Nick

I clearly missed the boat tonight...darn! Although I'm still hearing some
audio on a number of frequencies up to fair level, but the best was an hour or
more ago, I
suppose! Perhaps things will repeat tomorrow night, and we'll see how the TPs
do tomorrow morning!Walt

Hi Bruce and Others,

Croatia-1134 was at threshhold audio here 15 minutes ago (on the 30
loopstick ICF-2010), but took a dive just when I was getting the Ultralights.
First TA audio here since January (also Croatia-1134), but it's fizzling out

I'd noticed a second station on there too Bruce, something I've never
had before. Turns out to be the Voice of Russia (from Germany I
believe), and it's well on top of the UK at the moment, with programming
in English.

[IRCA] BC TAs .... from the Netherlands

2009-10-06 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Think that I've dug out a couple of Dutch stations, R. 5 on 747 (there right
now w/woman talking about 15 seconds ahead of the webstream, then man on the
hour), and R. Maria on 675 a little earlier w/organ mx and vocals, though
really hard to relate to the webstream.

Both of these had poor signals at best in the splatter.
