We figured if someone needs the Py3.5/Windows combination that they would be motivated enough to help fix the problem we ran into. The wheels have been prone to maintenance issues as the work is essentially unfunded, despite the wheels being heavily depended on by well-heeled corporations > [Python] Drop Python 3.5 from support matrix > > > Key: ARROW-5679 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARROW-5679 > Project: Apache Arrow > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: Python >Reporter: Wes McKinney >Assignee: Krisztian Szucs >Priority: Major > Fix For: 1.0.0 > > > We probably need to maintain Python 3.5 on Linux and macOS for the time > being, but we may want to drop it for Windows since conda-forge isn't > supporting Python 3.5 anymore, so maintaining wheels for Python 3.5 will come > with extra cost -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.4#803005)

Since people are still installing 3.5 and it's not actively causing us a problem, I think we can keep shipping the wheels in 0.16.0. I don't understand your question [~wesm]: do you mean to do this ticket and drop support for 3.5 in 0.16.0, or drop this ticket from the 0.16 scope (and produce wheels for py 3.5 for this release)? > [Python] Drop Python 3.5 from support matrix > > > Key: ARROW-5679 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARROW-5679 > Project: Apache Arrow > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: Python >Reporter: Wes McKinney >Priority: Major > Fix For: 0.16.0 > > > We probably need to maintain Python 3.5 on Linux and macOS for the time > being, but we may want to drop it for Windows since conda-forge isn't > supporting Python 3.5 anymore, so maintaining wheels for Python 3.5 will come > with extra cost -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.4#803005)
