Thanks [~ram_krish]

With the current patch, sample code test results are good.

Let me test with the Bulkload job as well provided in the description, and will
provide the E2E test results.

Flame graphs for the branch-2 with the patch, some more calls are not there in
the attached file like compareFamilies, compareColumns and compareTimestamps.

if you have that flame trace for branch-2, can you please provide.

[~ram_krish] - After replacing the entire code what we have in branch-1.3, it
is degrading another 10% more.

Did some more tests like copying the complete KeyValue class from  branch-1.3,
still performance is degrading.

Issue is seems to be not only with Comparator, more internals of it need to
check.

Y. SREENIVASULU REDDY edited comment on HBASE-24754 at 8/4/20, 9:58 AM:

Verified the mapper task operations, and data writing operation done by
HFileOutputFormat2. There didn't observed any time taking operations.

But Time differences observed in the PutSortReducer class for processing the
"Put" objects.

For the same executed the tests and posted the results here, please find the
attached sample code to reproduce the issue, for between the Branch-2 and
Branch-1.3
 In Reduce operation to process the "PUT" objects observed the difference ~30%
reduced.

1. Verified the test with 10 rows.
 2. Each row size is ~1K.
 3. Each row have single column-family and 300 qualifiers
 4. Tested with java version (JDK1.8.0_232)
 5. Test Results
||Rows processing Time||Branch 1.3 Time (ms)||Branch 2 Time (ms)||%Difference||
|Test 1|12545|18955|-33.8|
|Test 2|12693|18840|-32.6|
|Test 3|12694|18939|-32.9|

Y. SREENIVASULU REDDY updated HBASE-24089:
--
Description:
During Rolling upgrade, we performed some set of operations, which leads to
regions were stuck in RIT.
pre-requisites:
configure the below properties in HBase 1.3.1 version
{noformat}

hbase.assignment.usezk
true

hbase.assignment.usezk.migrating
true

{noformat}
configure the below properties in HBase 1.3.1 version
{noformat}

hbase.mirror.table.state.to.zookeeper
true

hbase.migrate.table.state.from.zookeeper
true

{noformat}

Steps to reproduce the problem.
{noformat}
1. start the hbase cluster with version 1.3.1 (1 master and 1 regionserver)
2. start the regionserver 2.2.x version [ 1 regionserver]
3. create the table with one region (ensure the table region with old version
RS)
4. write some data into the table
5. flush the table.
6. create snapshot for the table
7. move the table region from old version to new version RS
8. disable the table.
9. restore snapshot on the table.
10 enable table.
{noformat}
After triggered the enable table operation, HBase 1.3.1 master assigned the
region to HBase 1.3.1 Regionserver.
RS failed to open the region.

Thanks [~liuml07] for looking into this issue, and for your comment.
It is returning Path object only, I have tested it locally.
As i observed in the HBase code, we are mostly using UTF-8 only for encoding.

No test cases are failing, but test unit build execution have some errors.

Thanks [~wchevreuil] for your valuable suggestion.
sorry for the late reply, I am busy with internal version activities.

As you reverted the original fix is fine, and changing in UnassignProcedure is
good.
https://github.com/apache/hbase/pull/307/files#r293916468

will go ahead with your suggested proposal as mentioned in the [PR
|https://github.com/apache/hbase/pull/307]
https://github.com/apache/hbase/pull/307/files#r293917693

Coming to the testCode, will remove unused variable as you mentioned
https://github.com/apache/hbase/pull/307/files#r293919137

And your next comment on insertData() method logic, I just reused the logic
done in TestSplitTableRegionProcedure.
https://github.com/apache/hbase/pull/307/files#r293921574

[~wchevreuil], please provide If you have any other suggestions and comments.

Thanks [~wchevreuil]
For checking this issue and comment.

yes i am able to reproduce this issue consistently . And it is for parent
replica region.
I have tested in my local environment. As well test case is failing without the
source code change.
I have verified in HBase-2.1.6 version.

 Summary: Huge Read requests for Meta table, while scan the user
table with SCVF.
 Key: HBASE-22165
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-22165
 Project: HBase
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Filters, scan
Affects Versions: 2.1.1
Reporter: Y. SREENIVASULU REDDY

Huge Read Request are observed for the meta table, while running the scan
operation for the user table with filters (SCVF).
User table is a pre splited table of approx 500 regions, and the data is loaded
to all the regions.

In our test scenario,
1. Table holds 10 million records across 500 regions.
2. Executed the scan operation with SCVF to fetch 10 records as a result.
3. But observed the more Read requests to the meta table.

[jira] [Commented] (HBASE-21408) Add hbase.wal.dir clean operation also to hbase cleanup script.

Thanks for the review and comment [~stack]

What is this change about Y. SREENIVASULU REDDY ?
If user configured hbase.wal.dir explicitly. Lets take an example of s3
environment.
If trying to clean the whole hbase data using hbase cleanup scripts, It is
missing to cleanup the path "hbase.wal.dir" path.
so this patch will clean all the data.

execute_zk_command "deleteall ${zparent}";
updated the ZK command. earlier "rmr ${zparent}" is using but "rmr" command is
deprecated.

Should there be a space up there between hrootdir and hwaldir?
providing "$hrootdir $hwaldir" both the paths are assigning to "hrootdir",
which make short to delete multiple paths in the hdfs.

Was hwaldir not being set?
In this case only hrootdir only we are deleting.

> Add hbase.wal.dir clean operation also to hbase cleanup script.
