[java ee programming] Query Related to passing value between JSP and Java

2011-10-04 Thread Jaya Rathi
Hi,
I am working on some requirement related to increase security of our
web application through LDAP.Here I am stucking at some point since
last week.
I need to pass a value setting in JSP page(index.jsp) to another .java
class of my web application,to achieve that I replace with index.
html(first to be called in my application) after that through this
page call another html file and then finally through inicio.xml it
will redirect to .java class of my application.
So.I need to access value setting in JSP page to my java class and
here we are using applets.no other servlet and JSP file.How can I do
that?

[java ee programming] Accessing Jar within a Jar File

2011-09-08 Thread Davanagere, Nagaraj
Hi Forum,

A Quick Question,

1) Say A.jar contains B.jar and C.jar
2) A.jar is in the class path of the application.
3) Manifest file of A.jar has class paths for B.jar and C.jar
4) Can the application access B.jar or C.jar which is packaged inside A.jar?

My assumption is NO.

please let me know if you differ or if you know any other way of accessing it?

(Note: My application works fine if I keep B.jar and C.jar and A.jar at the
same level.
I am just curious to know if there is any other way of packaging together.)

Thanks for your time.

Regards,
Nagaraj

Re: [java ee programming] Digest for java-ee-j2ee-programming-with-pass...@googlegroups.com - 1 Message in 1 Topic

2011-09-06 Thread Vinod Duggirala Naga
Based on your use-case you can choose one of the following:

JOSSO
Shibboleth
OpenID
Central Authentication Service from Yale
Cosign

Of course, maturity matters a lot. OpenSSO is sun's commercial product (SJS
Access Manager) and the maturity & usability was very good. Obviously we
need to give-up as this is in the hands of Oracle :-(

[java ee programming] need help

2011-08-08 Thread vinay basavanal
Hi all,

I have web application which is developed using struts,jsp and i have
used WeBFX tabpane for tab everything is working fine but now i am trying
to implement ajax in my applicaation.AJax is working fine but the problem i
am facing in dynamic selection of tab .WEbFx code can be found in
http://webfx.eae.net/dhtml/tabpane/tabpane.html.The tab object is created in
jsp tp1 = new WebFXTabPane( document.getElementById( "tabPane1" )
); where tabpane1 is div and there after u keep adding tab by using

tp1.addTabPage( document.getElementById( "tabPage1" ) );

where tabPage1 is again div

this way we create tab

then particular tab can be selected by using

tp1.setSelectedIndex(2);

where 2 represent second div

 now in my ajax
script

function processStateChange1() {

  if (req.readyState == 4) { // Complete
if (req.status == 200) {
   var decimal = document.getElementById('ajaxselectedh');
decimal.innerHTML = req.responseText;
//setupAllTabs();
//tp1.setSelectedIndex(2);
} else {
  alert("Problem with server response:\n "
+ req.statusText);
}
  }
}

when i do tp1.setSelectIndex it is not working

2011-08-04 Thread Mohammad Hasanur Rahaman
Hi,

Thanks for your interest to help me.
I am new in Java and J2EE and android also.
But currently I am not dealing with android but with J2MEE.

My target is to develop a service for MIDP devices those have very
limited functionality as a phone or some thing else to track them
where they are using GSM technology.

First please let me know if it is possible to run a service 24/7 in a
very basic hand sets to run a service. If possible then will it
consume so much battery ?
Then please guide me to proceed as i am a beginner to reach the goal.
I have my eclipse ready for J2EE development and I have nokia 3110c to
test the functionality.

Regards
Hasanur

2011-08-03 Thread Mohammad Hasanur Rahaman
Hello,

Thanks for willingness to help a new bee :)
Please tell me how should I proceed as I am a beginner at J2EE.
We can run a service, which can run 24 hrs a day in a java enable mobile
which can send us signals to show us its current destination, right ?

Hello Rafal,

One of the main requirements of the JavaPassion J2EE class is to actually
have a basic knowledge of Java. It would be best for you to start learning
the basics. We have a course here in JavaPassion for Java programming in
case you are not aware of it:

[java ee programming]

2011-07-31 Thread lest sta.ana
This is how I understood it:
ClassName.class is how you create your program. Inside this class you are going
to code your program using java language. It depends on you as a programmer how
you wanted the class to behave(attribute), what functions it can
perform(method) and to put restriction to access it (access modifiers). This
classes can later on be used by other classes. This creats the object oriented
programming.

Hi Rafal,

I've noticed that you are asking very basic Java question in a Java EE 6
group. Probably you will get more help (and it would be more apropriate) to
consult a Java mailing list

try these:

Re: [java ee programming] .class usage

2011-07-29 Thread stefan.brunig
Hi Hani,

you might get some useful information here:
http://download.oracle.com/javase/1,5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Class.html

This entry refers also to JLS 15.8.2 explaining the class literals (
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/expressions.doc.html#251530
):

"A class literal is an expression consisting of the name of a class,
interface, array, or primitive type followed by a `.' and the token class.
The type of a class literal is Class. It evaluates to the Class object for
the named type (or for void) as defined by the defining class loader of the
class of the current instance."

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi rafel,

In a class, when you are define the parametrized constructor, you have to
explicitly declare the no argument constructor.

So pls try with the following code:

*public *SecuredPage(PageParameters pageParameters) { **

*super*( pageParameters );

//THIS PAGE IS MENU WHICH IS VISIBLE IN ALL SUBCLASSES.

}

===

*public class* HittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes *extends S*ecuredPage{ **

*public **HittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes(PageParameters pageParameters) { *

*super**(pageParameters);*

*public* InnlevertEiendel getInnlevEDUpdate(){

*return* innlevEDUpdate;

}**

*public **HittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes() { *

*super**();*

}

=

*publicclass* HittegodsRegInnlev *extends *SecuredPage{  **

* *

*public* HittegodsRegInnlev(PageParameters pageParameters) {

*super*(pageParameters);

InnlevertEiendel innlevertEiendelUpdate =

*new*InnlevertEiendel();

*HittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes hittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes = *

*newHittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes(); //THIS IS WRONG. **HERE I MUST USE PROPER
PROBABLY NON PARAMETER CONSTR.*

innlevertEiendelUpdate = hittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes.getInnlevEDUpdate();

.

}

[java ee programming] Deploying the web tier on seperate web server

2011-07-27 Thread Baqar Naqvi

Hi,

I have an application design with the following architecture:

Presentation Tier - JSF , Backing Beans
Business Tier and Integeration tier : Session Bean (EJB 3.0) with JPA Entities

Instead of using seperate DTOs to transfer data between the layer I have used
the detached JPA Entities i.e. these JPA Entities are used within the backing
beans.
Ofcourse, Business Delegates are being used as well with Service Locator to
fetch the session bean.

Given this is it possible to deploy the Presentation tier on a web server for
e.g. tomcat with the business tier deployed on an application server such as
Glassfish/Websphere/Weblogic.

I look forward to your replies.

Thanks,
Baqar

Re: [java ee programming] Constructor

2011-07-26 Thread Icon Web Solutions
Use the super keyword to invoke the base class constructor from the subclass
constructor (which is zero-parameter).
This example explains how this is done -

Basic class is SecuredPage.
In subclass HittegodsFinnInnlevSokRes there is getInnlevEDUpdate() method.
This method must be just invoked in HittegodsRegInnlev.
I can do it in static way but because of other things I must use non static method.

Please have a look for below 3 classes.

public class SecuredPage extends WebPage {
public SecuredPage(PageParameters pageParameters) {
super(

In my case it was:

double resultDoub = Double.parseDouble(resultStr.replace(",", "."
));

[java ee programming] JSF, commandLink action take long time

2011-07-10 Thread Nguyễn Đình Đoàn
Hi,

Can you answer me a question about JSF? I'm now studying JSF for
examinations. I'm using JSF 2.0
I have 1 milion records (table name is Student) in database. Firstly, in
backing bean object, I get 10 records (because I must do pagination) and
return a List. Then I display the List into a dataTable in
index.xhtml file. The speed is very fast !

Then, on the index.xhtml itself, I have a commandLink to click to call
deleteStudent(int
stuID) method, it deleted successfully but take about 8 seconds => too slow

I computed processing time of the methods deleteStudent() and getStudents()
and the time was very small, about 0.1 - 0.5s. So I think the cause is not
query statements or procedure, I think because of JSF framework or
something. But why in the first time, from the time I clicked button Run in
netbeans, the page loaded very fast (about 1s) ?

Thanks!

Re: [java ee programming] Delegate and DAO layers with EJB 3.0

2011-07-04 Thread Oh Chin Boon
Hi baqar, yes, you should have this delegate layer, it is called a business
delegate design pattern, it abstracts the caller from underlying logic of
retrieving a connection to whatever the business tier might be, be it ejb 3,
2.1 or spring. The idea is also to allow any caller a standard way of accessing
business objects, be it browser client, handphone based client so on and so
forth.

With thanks,
Chin Boon.

Subject: [java ee programming] Delegate and DAO layers with EJB 3.0

We are designing a simple web application, and have decided to use EJB 3.0 in
it. We will use JPA for persistence with the session facade patterns. As I
cannot discuss the application's business I have mentioned the relevant
patterns that are being used.
Given this I am trying to figure out the usefulness of having a Delegate layer
to invoke the session beans. Since resource injection (using annotations) will
only work if the calls are made from container managed classes/components, it
will cannot be used if I use a delegate layer. In the past this layer has been
used for JNDI lookups and exception handling. Do we still need this layer ? If
yes, what could be the benefits of having it.
A similar situation arises when we consider using the DAO layer. The
annotations on the methods controlling the transactions will only work on the
Entity class not on the DAO class. Again should we have a DAO layer, but if we
do we will not be able to use annotations. Also if we ignore the DAO layer both
the mapping to the database and the different queries will be cluttered in this
class. So, given this what will be a better option to avoid using annotations
and have a DAO layer or avoid a DAO layer?
I am also open to other alternatives regarding these two layer.
Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks,Baqar

Re: [java ee programming] read the content of a url

requested of the URL.

What do you mean by 'content' as opposed to the source?

If you are looking to download images or video clips then you will
have to write some code to scan the HTML returned to find the URL of
those items then call this code again to download those items
separately.

Bob

[java ee programming] How to portably (sp?) write/create files in Web Applications...

2011-06-27 Thread cyclemaniaque
So the feature request sounded "reasonable". From my web based Java
module, which is primarily a tag library that reads in and is wholly
dependent upon xml files from the local file system (through
URLClassLoader), devise a fallback strategy if for some some reason
the source xml files should become unavailable or corrupted. My
application checks for updates to these files on a configurable
interval. If an update is indicated, the file is reread and the cache
refreshed.

Hey, I've done this in desktop applications... read in a file... it's
good, copy the contents to a "known good" location on the file system.
Perform this operation on each subsequent positive read. If for some
reason a read goes awry, load in the prior good version, issue a error
to the log and continue.

Problem is, this isn't as straight forward in a web application
environment. By design there is little if any direct file system
access from a web module. And for what there is (from what I've been
able to determine) there's no guarantee that one approach is portable
from one web server to the next.

That said, I'm asking the group if there is a "simple" solution to
this. While I could go through the overhead of configuring a database
in the backend for storing the deltas it seems a bit of an overkill
for the task. I want to avoid over-engineering the solution (after
all, if the source xml files are broken, this is a serious matter...
it really should fail severely so it gets attention).

While writing this (sorry for the long winded post) I have come up
with a simple solution... if the subsequent read of the source fails
issue the error and simply don't refresh the cache... but my question
is now more out of curiosity and academic. What reasonably simple
approach(es) can be utilized to handle this requirement (again,
outside of harnessing a datasource)?

thanks,
K2
