[JAWS-Users] Inactive Buttons in Jaws 8Re: [JAWS-Users] Re: Delete Key Stroke

2007-03-14 Thread marcatony

I hope I can explain the problem so I can get some help. When I was using
Jaws 7.0, I was able to click on some of the buttons to make actions occur,
such as spinning a prize wheel. Now that I have installed Jaws 8.0 I am no
longer able to click on these same buttons because there is a message which
says button inactive. I don't know what settings to change because I didn't
use the merge feature. Does anyone know what settings i should change so
that I can spin the prize wheels myself? Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Re: help with jaws 7-8 and word

2007-03-14 Thread David Greene

Hi Annette
I too am using a Dell laptop. I did some playing around in the mouse
properties shutting some things off, and I haven't had the problem since.
I'm not convinced that it is fixed until it stays stable for a longer period
of time. You may want to go into the control panel and arrow down until you
get to the mouse, and then tab through the settings. I pressed the shift F1
key to find out what each check box did, and made my choice from there.
Maybe this will help. Also, make sure your touch pad is turned off so that
when you press the pad, it doesn't click the mouse. David.

[JAWS-Users] Re: JAWS 8, IE7 and the toolbar

2007-03-14 Thread Flor Lynch

No, you can't get rid of it. However, you can change it around, if it's
worth it! Try exploring options on it with the right-mouse button - before
you make changes. Personally, I find IE7's drawbacks minor compared to its
new features - things like RSS feeds (news feeds and podcasts).

Is there any way to get rid of that darned toolbar or whatever you call it

favorites, etc.

I can't say I'm crazy about IE7.

Hi Yall,

Just wanted to make yall aware of when setting a hot key for jaws on
whatever versions you have already on your computer that you don't make the
horrible mistake I did recently..

I totally forgot the alt-control-K was already in use so I reassigned it
with a new jaws versions and consequently it put me in I think it was the
safe mode on the computer which there is no speech..
I had to get my son to get over here and bail me out of my jam and I was
able therefore to fix the error. So just thought I would share this with the
list so it doesn't happen to someone else as if you live alone and no one to
assist you it can be rather worrisome when your not getting any speech.

In case some are not aware of what I did here, I installed jaws 7.10 with a
hot key alt-control K and jaws 8 was suppose to be on another hot key but I
goofed and put it on the one for jaws 7.10.
Patricia

[JAWS-Users] virus protection

2007-03-14 Thread Cathy
I am wondering if jaws in compatible with this virus protection program. The
name of the program is, F-Secure. I am running xp home version, and at the
moment I am running jfw 5.1 but have 6.0 and 7.0 and I am planning to get 8.0
soon. I am also running openbook 7.0 and need to know if F-Secure is
compatible with jaws and if anyone knows, is it compatible with openbook too.
Thanks in advance for your info in advance.

[JAWS-Users] Re: he repair functionin jaws 8

2007-03-14 Thread david the wild-thing!

Hello all. If you'd like to put an Installation Maintenance shortcut where
it usually was in the past for 7.1, do the following:

1. Hold windows key plus r, and paste in the following:
"%allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\JAWS 7.10\tools"
Make sure to include the quotes.
2. Once you're in the Tools folder, hit alt plus f to get to the file menu,
then w for the new submenu.

3. Arrow down to shortcut, and press enter.
4. When the box comes up for the target of the shortcut, paste the following
in the edit field:

MsiExec.exe /I{8A2BAD28-3D41-4258-8EC8-A1D9A5E24B01}
Make sure to include the entire line.
5. Press enter and type the following in the shortcut name edit field:
Installation Maintenance
That should do it. Just press enter from there, and you can then close the
tools folder. Now go to the start menu to jaws 7.10, get to the tools
submenu,
and check to see if installation maintenance is there.

Hope this is helpful to some folks.

this should also work for jaws 8.0.

[JAWS-Users] Settinga Hot Key for Jaws

2007-03-14 Thread Patricia

Patricia

[JAWS-Users] Re: setting up an internet radio station

2007-03-14 Thread Johny Cassidy

How you doing David

I don't really know where to start. I am just toying with the idea, but
want to know how difficult it would be as a jaws user. I have looked at the
Shoutcast option, and although it seems pretty straight forward, I haven't a
clue what there talking about. The technology side of it is all new to me.
I have worked in variousFM radio stations before as a presenter, but it was
easy there. All I had to do was phone an engineer. Is your station an
internet one? Did you go for Shoutcast? Let me know what it's called and I
can check it out.

Cheers for now

Johny

You want to start a new install first. The program will detect an existing

Hi Sarah,

You need to re-install JAWS without uninstalling it first..

Just try to run the installation file, and you will need to select between 3

Modify, repair or uninstall.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 8, IE7 and the toolbar

2007-03-14 Thread Arianna Calesso

Is there any way to get rid of that darned toolbar or whatever you call it
at the top of the page in IE7? It's where they have live search and
favorites, etc.

I can't say I'm crazy about IE7.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Making a call in Skype.

2007-03-14 Thread david the wild-thing!

hello,

another way you can answer a call is?

you need to, activate the global hot keys.

while in skype do the following.

1, alt+t for tools;
2, press the letter O for options;

3, right arrow until you hear hot keys;

4, now tab and make sure the enable hotkeys checkbox is checked, by default
its unchecked, use the spacebar to check it, and then, tab to save.
now, to answer a call, it's, alt+pageup and to hang up from a call is,
alt+pagedown.

I am kidding you max, since I know you from the other list. Here you go.
1. To answer a SKYPE call:
2. Press and hold down the ult key with your left thumb and press C. This
give you a list of menu options. Use the regular up and down arrows with
your
right hand and press enter on "answer" twice.
list end

[JAWS-Users] JAWS Flex and Flash 9

2007-03-14 Thread rustiesoo

Hello all - just a quick question - does anyone have any experience of
using JAWS and Flash? a big question I know, but in particular I'm
interested in whether anyone has used the scripts available from Adobe
in order to make JAWS work with Flex controls embedded within either
Flash or an html page?

thanks very much
Rustie
