Re: [JAWS-Users] scripts

2008-08-31 Thread Lali
Hello, Caroline!

See below, I have two sites, that you might see.
But, I had no problem with avg 8.
I use jfw 6.20.
There are the scripts pages, you can see:
www.jfwlite.com
www.jaws-users.com
then select on the first page programms, the second I wrote scripts page.
Hope that helps!

[JAWS-Users] Folders in Outlook Express

2008-08-31 Thread Rick Justice
Mike,
I just tested this, and here is the way it goes:
When you copy your .dbx folders from your message store in Outlook Express,
you need only copy the ones that you created in Outlook Express, plus the,
folders.dbx.
If you don't replace the folders.dbx with your copy, your messages won't
appear in Outlook Express.
HTH, if not, give me a call.

Re: [JAWS-Users] zipping file

2008-08-31 Thread Desiree Oudinot
It depends on what program you're using to zip up the files. I would
personally recommend 7Zip, because it's very easy to use. But in any
case, with all the programs I've seen, there should be a shortcut in
the file menu that says add to archive. You should copy all the files
you want to zip up into a folder, then go into the file menu and look
for that. Then you should be able to make a zip folder with the same
name and you won't have to change anything.

Re: [JAWS-Users] external harddrive question

2008-08-31 Thread Victor Gouveia
Is it being picked up in the device manager?

You may want to go into the device manager and check under the USB
controllers if there's a mass storage device being picked up.

If that's the case, then you will want to uninstall all of the USB devices
listed there, restart your computer, and let Windows recreate the USB
devices plugged into the computer.

You haven't said whether you've tried plugging in the drive on another port,
so my fix above is in case you have tried plugging it into another port, and
you had the same results.

Like I said, this is the fix for a problem such as yours.

Also, you never mentioned whether you've managed to connect this device to
your computer in the past and whether it's been working fine at that point.

Let us know some more information and we'll try to help if possible.

Re: [JAWS-Users] zipping file

2008-08-31 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Estelita,

With Windows Vista Home Premium you don't need a third party program for
creating a zipped folder. Simply move to the folder where you want to
create a zipped folder and make sure not to select a file. JAWS should say
not selected when you move into the folder. Before using any navigational
keys press the Alt key to get to the menu bar. use down arrow to move to
the new choice. use the right arrow to move into the submenu for the
new choice and then use up or down arrow keys to move to the create
compressed (zipped) folder choice and press the enter key. Type the name
of your zip folder and press enter.

You can then open your zipped folder and use copy and paste commands to move
files into it.

Remember that many E-mail providers have file size limitations. You might
consider a different method of getting files to your recipients if E-mail
size limitations are a problem. Uploading files to a site such as SendSpace
is an option, or of course such things as FTP or VPN, etc.

Take care. Have a nice long weekend!

if you have win zip, I tend to high line the file and open applications and
use down errow and open win zip, it tells me to send and zip file. This way
you can zip and send it at the same time.

 Hi listers,
I have multiple files in a folder that I want to send as an attachment to
an email, but in order to do this, I think I need to zip the files first
so they can be sent in one go.
Any help for JAWS keys on how to zip or unzip the files please?
I'm using Vista home premium and office 2003.
 Thank you.

You haven't said whether you've tried plugging in the drive on another
 port,
so my fix above is in case you have tried plugging it into another port,
 and
 you had the same results.

Like I said, this is the fix for a problem such as yours.

Also, you never mentioned whether you've managed to connect this device to
your computer in the past and whether it's been working fine at that
 point.

Let us know some more information and we'll try to help if possible.

Make sure the drive is turned on.
And plugged in. Also, you might have to use the CD software that came with
it in order for windows to detect it. Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] external harddrive question

2008-08-31 Thread Victor Gouveia
If the drive came with driver CD's, and you are running Windows 98, which I
can't remember if you are or not, then you would plop in the CD, install the
software, then plug in the drive.

Knowing 98 the way I do, you'll no doubt have to restart your computer for
the changes to take effect.

If you're running XP, then, more than likely, the CD won't help you, but you
never know.

Most drives only come with driver CD's for Windows 98 computers, as those
are the only ones that will not recognize the drive.

Another thing I just thought about is if you're running 98, and the drive is
formatted as NTFS, then you won't get it to recognize the drive, no matter
what you do.

You may want to take the drive to someone else's computer to see if it gets
recognized there on the other computer, at least to rule out that the drive
is bad.

You might want to Google your problem, detailing the model and serial number
of your drive, if you have it, and the problem you're having, and see if you
can turn up anything that way.

If you'd like, let me know the model of your drive, and the size, as well as
what operating system you're using, and I'll run a cursory Google search for
the problem for you, and post my results.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Folders in Outlook Express

2008-08-31 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Richard,

Thank you very much for your response. Here is the problem that I am having
now. I currently have all my folders in the OE program working correctly.
In the personal store manager where the .dbx files are stored there are

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Folders in Outlook Express

Mike,
I just tested this, and here is the way it goes:
When you copy your .dbx folders from your message store in Outlook Express,
you need only copy the ones that you created in Outlook Express, plus the,
folders.dbx.
If you don't replace the folders.dbx with your copy, your messages won't
appear in Outlook Express.
HTH, if not, give me a call.

If the drive came with driver CD's, and you are running Windows 98, which
 I
can't remember if you are or not, then you would plop in the CD, install
 the
software, then plug in the drive.

Knowing 98 the way I do, you'll no doubt have to restart your computer for
 the changes to take effect.

If you're running XP, then, more than likely, the CD won't help you, but
 you
 never know.

Most drives only come with driver CD's for Windows 98 computers, as those
are the only ones that will not recognize the drive.

Another thing I just thought about is if you're running 98, and the drive
 is
formatted as NTFS, then you won't get it to recognize the drive, no matter
 what you do.

You may want to take the drive to someone else's computer to see if it
 gets
recognized there on the other computer, at least to rule out that the
 drive
 is bad.

You might want to Google your problem, detailing the model and serial
 number
of your drive, if you have it, and the problem you're having, and see if
 you
can turn up anything that way.

If you'd like, let me know the model of your drive, and the size, as well
 as
what operating system you're using, and I'll run a cursory Google search
 for
the problem for you, and post my results.

then you don't need any drivers.
If the drive needs formatting. You can go to control panel, admin
tools, computer management. See if it sees the drive in there, and if
it does you can right click on it to format the drive.
You might have to rout jaws to pc and look around the bottom of the

Also you make sure you hear the drive power up, and if you got access
to another computer with a USB port. Try to see if it sees the drive.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Folders in Outlook Express

2008-08-31 Thread Flor Lynch
Mike,

Did you have a problem with OE folders at any stage, like one ore more
getting corrupted? ? If so, and you managed to get things working again,
my guesstimate would be that the (1).dbx file is the repaired folder. In
days of old, I got this when I had a corrupted inbox - Inbox1.dbx. (Perhaps
there was parentheses included round the 1.)

You could also investigate the matter via the find Files Folders dialogue,
or by using the Run dialogue, or by using Windows Explorer, to drill down to
it. You could then - using the F2 key - rename one of them outside of
Outlook Express, then see how that one transfers.

Mike,
I just tested this, and here is the way it goes:
When you copy your .dbx folders from your message store in Outlook Express,
you need only copy the ones that you created in Outlook Express, plus the,
folders.dbx.
If you don't replace the folders.dbx with your copy, your messages won't

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007

After opening Outlook 2007, one of three things happens after I open the first

messsage that an Outlook data file did not close properly and that data files
are being checked.
3. JAWS says only blank as I arrow through the message text. I either have to
route JAWS to PC (which I don't like) or I have to close and re-open the
application until JAWS decides to read properly.

I'm running JAWS 9.0.2169 on XP Home. Outlook 2007 is 12.0.6316.5000.

Thanks for any info.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007

2008-08-31 Thread Dale Leavens
Hi,

I have been having a few issues since Jaws nine and Vista, sometimes I find
it necessary to maximize the window, ALT- then 'X' .

Try that, it might help.

After opening Outlook 2007, one of three things happens after I open the
first e-mail that I'd like to read and press the down arrow key to read
 through the message text:

 1. Everything works fine (but that's not why I'm writing)
 2. The mail message and the application close. When I re-open Outlook, I
hear a messsage that an Outlook data file did not close properly and that
 data files are being checked.
 3. JAWS says only blank as I arrow through the message text. I either

re-open the application until JAWS decides to read properly.

I'm running JAWS 9.0.2169 on XP Home. Outlook 2007 is 12.0.6316.5000.

 Thanks for any info.

Does anyone recall when JAWS9 was released?
I didn't get an SMA, and now I'm afraid I'll have to pay more than I
 should
have to for upgrading to JAWS10.
