Thanks for this. I have personally reassigned this to caps lock x. I
know this should speak the contents of a frame, but I hardly use frames
for my daily use. So felt the clipboard feature was more important.

do the same in Xp. In Vista or Win 7, just left click on the Volume

Re: [JAWS-Users] Reading The Clipboard

2010-03-07 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Kimsan,

A couple nice things about the Ditto program are that you can copy both
files and text from files as entries to the clipboard, which can't be done
with the JAWS appending feature. I have often wanted to copy and paste a
file but need to first go empty the clipboard by pasting text into a file.
Another thing that I have learned to like is the entries remain even after a
system is shut down and then booted up again. The hotkeys are not difficult
to use. If you use the Ditto program then remember to make sure that the
entry for deleting items on the clipboard in CCleaner isn't checked.

Take care.

It should not matter which of those you obtain as jaws doesn't really

Take care.

You really do not need to install another application or perform daminging
finger acrobatics. That is what the JAWS Keyboard Manager is for. The hard

part is figuring out which key combination is comfortable and not already
taken. Perhaps the layered approach hinted about for JAWS 12 can alleviate
this issue and make more combinations easily available.

To set a new hotkey for this JAWS Script, SayClipboard, follow these steps:

1.Press the JAWSKey (Insert on the desktop keyboard layout and CapsLock on a

laoptop layout) + F2. Select Keyvoard Manager in the list and press
Enter.

2. Press Control + Shift + D, to open the default settings.

3. Press Tab to get to the list of default hotkeys.

4. Either navigate through the list to the name of the JAWS Scripts that
you would like to define or press Control + F to searchh for the script
that currently uses the difficult hotkey.

4. Manage to press the needed hotkey once and press Enter.

5. This will place you on the current script's hotkey assignment. To leave

this hotkey alone and add a second hotkey to perform the same function,
press Control + A.

6. Press your well thought out alternative for this script and press Enter.

7. You will be asked to confirm if you want to add this hotkey to the
default settings. Press Enter to confirm.

8. Close the Keyboard Manager with Alt + F4.

Hi Sherri,
2 soundcards will handle this very nicely.
No need to open the computer, you can pickup a USB soundcard, for around
$20, and a USB headset for around $30.

You can set Jaws to use one device, and all of your other sounds
can use the other one.

Hi!

You can easily do that in Vista and Win 7 but I'm not sure if one can
do the same in Xp. In Vista or Win 7, just left click on the Volume
icon present in your system tray (use Insert + F11 to open up system
tray dialog box) and tab to mixer button. Press spacebar and then tab
your way to the volume leveler of Application file for Jaws and then
adjust the volume as you like.

Hello David,

I sent you a message with a link in it to my Skydrive page where the file
can be downloaded. I will be checking with Kimsan to see how it works in
Windows 7 and the 64-bit environment. It does work well for me in Vista.

The program has a help icon in the program group that gives some instruction
in using the application. There is a table of key bindings, which I have
included below, but they are also available in the help on the program's web
page. I don't use a lot of the keystrokes as many of them have to do with
grouping items. The table is shown below. One thing not explained well in
the help is that after using F3 to see all the text in an entry you can tab
to an edit area and use CTRL+home to move to the top, and other navigating
commands normally used in edit fields. Pressing escape dismisses the
details and moves back into the list of items on the clipboard. The
application key also gives most of the functions needed, one of them being
that you can adjust how many lines in the initial list of entries a single
entry should have, the default is one line per entry. One line per entry is
usually sufficient as the F3 key will give the entire content of an entry if
that is needed. Take care.

Our Household license covers up to 5 computers used
in the same household for only $79.95, and
multi-user licenses are available as well.
Printing - Of course, you can print clips
too! The new paper-saver feature in v7.3 lets
you print several small clips (text or graphic) on a page, if

they'll fit.
Sharing - Sometimes you need to share data with a
team or workgroup, or just yourself at another
computer. ClipMate covers all the bases, with support
for live multi-user databases, or distribution
of clips and updates via XML files.
Screen capture by desktop, window, or area,
with support for multiple monitors.
Sometimes you just want to paste without all of
the formatting that often accompanies clipboard
data. Have you ever re-typed data from a web page because
you didn't want to contaminate your document with
tables and styles from some web page? If you
press the Win+W key, ClipMate will filter the clipboard

to be plain-text. It's fantastic!

Take care.

Ann,

This is very interesting. With the good router, which
obviously I have hooked up now being I'm emailing, the

default gateway is blank. This leads me to believe that
either the router itself is bad or the firmware may have

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessing Linksys Menus

If you forget the address, you can go to the DOS prompt and
type in
ipconfig and the router address, as well as your computer
address
will be displayed.

You access the linksys router by entering in the link
http://192.168.1.1

This assumes that nobody has changed the router address.
If they
have, then you need to either know the new address, or do a
hard
reset on the router by holding a point of a ballpoint pen
or
paperclip in on the reset button for about thirty seconds.

If you reset the router in this way, the default router
address is
the 192.168.1.1 as I mentioned above. The password to
enter the
router setup screen is admin.

When you enter the router setup screen, the first page that
is
displayed has your settings to connnect the router to the
internet. There are radio buttons for cable, PPPOE (DSL),
as well
as some specialized settings for services in Europe or
Australia.

There are other screens which you might need. These are
displayed
as links on the top of the page. For example, if you want
wireless,
you will need to go to the wireless link and select the
radio button
to enable wire.ess. You might also be able to choose what
wireless
standard you want, B, G, or N or mixed. Unless all your
devices are
running the same wireless protocol, select Mixed. If you
are going
to use a Braille notetaker, some of them won't respond if
you have a
mixed network including N, so you may need to select B/G
mixed.

Once you open the wireless section, there is also a link to
set up
wireless security. Unless you are in an extremely isolated
area,
you need to have some security level set. Your choices are
open (no
security), WEP or WPA/PSK. WEP is much weaker and can be
pretty
easily cracked. Choose WPA and you will be able to enter a
security
password. Every computer or anything else which logs into
your
network wirelessly will need to use that password.

The other thing that I would set or change on your router
is the
administrative password. This will prevent anybody from
changing
your router's settings. Go into the administration link
and change
your password to something other than the default of Admin.

Well, there is an easier way to read the clipboard. Just download a free
self-voicing app called Speak Clipboard which will speak the contents of
your clipboard in a SAPI 5 voice (usually Daniel) at the touch of a
keystroke. You can create a desktop icon for Speak Clipboard and then
assign a shortcut key of your choosing to launch it.

Hi,
Well the zip folder could be corrupted. You can try downloading it
from the website again, sometimes you just get a bad download for one
reason or another. If that still doesn't solve the problem, then the
zip file just might have been corrupted when the person uploaded it to
their site, in which case you could contact the site owner and let
them know. Hth.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] zip files

Hi,

I have a problem. I don't know if anyone can help but any start would be a
good start.

I downloaded this zip folder from a website and when I press enter on it
for
the zip folder to open it says invalid. Why would it say that and what
could

I do?
