I second that thought on Microsoft speech recognition.
A tip on training it when on tutorial or in other sessions. Put jaws
in say all mode and you will hear just what it wants you to say.

I use it a lot with Microsoft flight sim x and It's your plane.
I even got a friend of mine with hand motion problems trying it out.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Making content fit in Excel cells

2011-05-31 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Cris,

If you use CTRL+1, the dialog box for formatting cells will open. Move to
the alignment page and there will be a checkbox to check for wrapping text
in the current cell or in the range of cells you have selected. There is
also a checkbox for merging a range of cells. Merging a range of cells on a
given row will result in more width for what you are typing. Turning on the
wrapping of cells will cause new lines to start in the cell when the
specified horizontal space has been filled. Also remember that you can use
Alt+enter key when writing in a cell to force new lines within that cell.
The keystroke can be helpful if you know the width of the cell and you don't
want text to break in the middle of a word. If you use more than one line
of text in the cell either by using Alt+enter key or by using the wrap
choice, the row height increases accordingly. Using JAWS key with F gives
you the cell information. The last piece of info given is the dimension of
the row height. The cell height will also change as needed if you use F2 to
edit a cell and use Alt+enter to put more than one line of text in the cell.

Take care.

Hello list,

I'm trying to work with some Excel spread sheets such as for merchandise
quotes, purchase order and invoices where certain text like item
description, delivery address etc can be 1, 2, or x lines. Because of this,
I'm having trouble getting the text to properly fit in the cells as I then
have to convert it to a PDF file and the whole template will get thrown off.
Does anyone know or can they direct me where one can manually do this and
more importantly, figure out how to adjust the cell/row/column size
accordingly and have Jaws give me the necessary feedback so I know that it
looks right? I've tried the autofit option in the menus, but the feedback
from my sighted wife is that it just makes the cell text even smaller and
makes it harder to read if not impossible. Not all text is equal so it's not
like I can use a set peramitor. I've checked the Jaws Excel help settings
and it's more to do with with reading titles and cell coordinates. That's
fine, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm using JFW 11. I do have the latest JFW 12 from this past May, but as
others have discussed on this and more lists, my experiences with Jaws 12
were too problematic to continue using it. My Excel is the 2003 edition.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

There is a way to read the DOM - Document Object Model, in IE 8.
Pressing F12 opens the current page in the Development Tools window. It
