[JAWS-Users] location of daily information files

2012-03-14 Thread David Ferrin
Here is where I have been posting the daily terms and the tips hopefully
appropriate to our needs as well. There are almost 1100 terms and almost 300
tips.

http://www.jaws-users.com/text/MISC/ComputerTerms.html
http://www.jaws-users.com/text/MISC/ComputerTips.html

I'm sure I often fail to post them on the list but especially the terms page
as been building for probably around five years already, study there will be
a test. I would probably fail myself so don't feel bad.

[JAWS-Users] Windows 7 tune Up Utility

2012-03-14 Thread Marvin Hunkin

HI.
well.
one of my audio cds would not copy.
so had to open up four folders, for my folder called MYMusic inside my
Music folder.

then open my dvd which has the audio cd.
then Albums, then singles.
a lot of chrashes, and it just locks up the whole system, windows 7
professional 32 bit.

using jaws 13.0.718.
and says the folder is not responding.
and if i try to kill it in task manager, it takes about four goes, or i
just have to do a hard reboot.

i do not have a credit card or pay pal.
so is there a jaws

friendly tool, that will tune up my laptop.
and fix the issues i am having?
avg makes pc tune up, but no free version.
so that is out.
it is taking me forever.
as when i tried to copy the whole folder.
it hangs forever, and then get the error message that one of the files.
so, having to arrow through one file at a time, over 100 files.
hear the name, tab to the singles, albums,, singles, and my music folder.
and has crashed four times.
saying, windows folder not responding.
just getting frustrated.
can any one help?

Ever think it might be the cd, or dirty cd device?

[JAWS-Users] when was jfw released

2012-03-14 Thread Lenny McHugh
First please email me off list at lmch...@verizon.net to cut list traffic down.
I am trying to determine when I first purchased jfw. I started using talking
computers in 1980 it was ITS information through speech. Then total talk and
upgraded again to total talk pc. I think around 1985 or 86 I purchased jaws for
dos. I think in the early 1990s I acquired jaws for windows. Freedom Scientific
has records back to 1995 and I know I had it prior to that. In 1997 someone
that I know has a serial number in the 10,000s and mine is less than 1250. They
started issuing serial numbers at 1,000.
Thanks.

Well mine is 4135 and that was for jaws version 2 back in 1995.
Before that I had to use vocaleyes for dos, because there wasn't much
screen readers for dos in 1990 and could touch win3.11 until 1993.
