Ah, you're talking about MP3. I'm talking LPCM WAV. I was also talking about
Blu-Ray disk. The thing HD movies are on. I'm not a big fan of MP3 or any
of the lossy formats to be honest. I prefer either lossless formats, or good
old LPCM WAV.

Goto Unit's and Printers, and be sure, that your printer is set as default
printer, than it should work in every program you try to print out from.

Hello there;

Okay you're saying when you print in notepad, or, wordpad,
The print isn't coming out correctly?

Or, is it that it's not printing at all?

First do you have word rap checked?
Secondly,
Do you have the correct printer selected when you do a ctrl+p=print?

Bob,

Actually, after digging around in the jaws-users archive, I found the
message I had remembered. It was from Eric Damery and referenced a
MyExtensions.jss file. He explained that you should put your custom
scripts in there so that they don't get over written in a JAWS upgrade.
However, I don't see any MyExtensions files anywhere on my system.

Not sure if I need to start one from scratch, or just what I need to stub
it out before putting my first script in there.

You should put any changes you make in your user folder.
If you want to make a change to the default scripts then copy the default.jss
to your user folder and make the changes there. This preserves the jaws
supplied scripts.
If you break something all you need do is delete the script version in your
user folder and the problem is gone and you can start again with out breaking
anything.
I had a situation where I broke something and jaws receiving my keystrokes and
announcing the key label the keys were not actually being passed through to the
application including windows. I had to boot into safe mode and have my
colleague go into my user folder and delete the default.jss, rebooted and all
was well.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Where to put personalized scripts in JFW 13

2012-07-19 Thread Bob

Dan

That is a cleaner way of doing it.
Create your own jss file with the customisations you want then use the
jsb in the default script file.
You will still need to call the functions in your new file from a script
in the default file but it means that recreating the customisations in a
different jaws version is much easier.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Where to put personalized scripts in JFW 13

2012-07-19 Thread Dan Rossi
OK, interesting here. When I did a search on my machine, using both
Windows search, and find in cygwin, there was no myextensions files to be
found.

Once I went to the script manager, then shared files, there was a
MyExtensions file that I could click on. I just entered my script there
and mostly done.

I didn't have to include anything in the default.jss file for the script
to work. The only interesting thing is that, on this XP box, the
default.JKM file already existed in the same location as the
MyExtensions.jkm file, so I couldn't rename the MyExtensions.jkm to
default.jkm file.

Dave's tutorial implied that the actual default and mMyExtensions files
would be in different locations. Not sure why they aren't on this box.

Anyway, thanks Dave for the tutorial it got me sorted out.

[JAWS-Users] sound recorder and jaws

2012-07-19 Thread jim
Hi list

When it comes to recording with a headphone microphone I am a beginner.

I am practicing recording myself with the sound recorder.

I successfully recorded from a Minnie cassette recorder to my line in on my
computer.

The recording of a thunderstorm came out very well.

But as far as recording my voice over the microphone at first it came out very
low.

I went to the properties of the microphone headphone and changed it to studio
quality.

I went to the level tab and made sure the volume was at 100 percent.

I changed the boost from 0 to 66 percent.

Now the volume is a lot louder, but there is too much hiss.

So to make this request short, I have two questions.

1. How do I get the maximum volume out of my microphone without all the hiss.

2. If I want to record computer lessons using Jaws in the recording, how do I
include my voice and jaws together on the same recording.

I hope you understand what I am asking.

I am using the latest Jaws 13 on a windows 7, 32 bit system.

I have two sets of speakers on my computer.

Jaws is coming out of the desktop sound card, everything else is coming through
my USB Bose speaker system.

Any help would be appreciated.

I like to learn new things, it is very exciting.

Thanks in advance for all your help…

Re: [JAWS-Users] Updating Old Computer to JAWS 13

2012-07-19 Thread inthaneelf
hi,

I believe the number of times is within a year, not over several years,
but you can always talk to them about it.

your allowed to use jaws on more than one machine that you own, they
normally say three machines (one home, one portable and one work machine)
but off the record I've been told that they don't pay to much attention
until you get to six or more authorizations in a couple months time span, or
if the authorizations are done from too many different internet
locations(one is fine, 2 is ok, three or more and they are going to be
wondering what your doing since home and work are the two... most likely
spots for authorization requests to come from)

I myself have five authorized machines, all are mine, in my house (normally
one is a netbook mobile unit) and they have been authorized over a year and
a half time span so I don't fit the selling jaws authorizations pattern
and haven't been bothered with.

so talk to a rep and let him know about your wish to upgrade your mobile and
the possibility of a new replacement machine in the near future.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Updating Old Computer to JAWS 13

 Hi Everyone,

I have an old XP based laptop that is running JAWS 8. I basically just
 use
it as a spare and use it very little, which is why it is still running
 JAWS
 8. On my main system, I am running JAWS 13. I would like to update the
 old
laptop to JAWS 13. Here is my problem. I recall that sometimes but not
always, when I have done a JAWS upgrade, I have had to reauthorize. I
 only
have one authorization left and I don't want to waste it on that old
 laptop
because I will probably be getting a new laptop before long and I will
 need
that remaining authorization. Is there any way to know rather upgrading
 the
old laptop will require me to reauthorize? I know that you can get your
authorization count reset but I have already done that a couple times over
the years and I suspect that there is a limit to how many times that they
will do that. Any advice is appreciated.

 Thanks,

 Scott Duck

h, are you sure that your installing the correct set of drivers?

I'm entering into this a bit late, but if your on a newer machine you will
need either vista 64 bit or windows 7 64 bit drivers more than likely, not
standard 32 bit ones?

might this be the trouble

Goto Unit's and Printers, and be sure, that your printer is set as default

This list runs normally so well that you guys almost don't need me any more,
but I'll stick around for the free pizza or some reason I haven't come up
with as of yet.

The extensions file is located in the shared folder at first and if memory
serves I walked from start to finish on how to do things, so I'm glad to
hear it got you going in the right direction.

Anyway, thanks Dave for the tutorial it got me sorted out.

of the program if it works better than the current release.

Re: [JAWS-Users] sound recorder and jaws

2012-07-19 Thread Dang Manh Cuong
Hi Jim
For my expirience, you need to adjust the volume to about 20%, and also change
the boost to 0%.
Now let record the thing you want. The volume is very low, but it doesn't have
too much hiss.
after it, save s wav and use an audio editting program, such as GoldWave to
adjust the volume.
Never record using Sound recorder, but I know this program cannot adjust
anything after recording.
Hope that help.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] sound recorder and jaws

  Hi list

When it comes to recording with a headphone microphone I am a beginner.

I am practicing recording myself with the sound recorder.

I successfully recorded from a Minnie cassette recorder to my line in on my
computer.

The recording of a thunderstorm came out very well.

But as far as recording my voice over the microphone at first it came out
very low.

Jaws is coming out of the desktop sound card, everything else is coming
through my USB Bose speaker system.

  Any help would be appreciated.

I like to learn new things, it is very exciting.

Thanks in advance for all your help…
