Re: [JAWS-Users] colours
You can tell the color of a particular item with insert-5. You can probably write a rule in the skim reading tool to detect certain colors. I recall setting one of those up in the past, but you might need to know what specific color to look for. Take my advice, I don't use it anyway. Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with JAWS BrailleIn
Hi Flor, no the forms mode issue isn't what I'm referring to - this doesn't happen to me. Are you sure that in fact you are using the correct BrailleNote drivers which support BrailleIn? If you're not, then you won't be able to type in grade two Braille and the letters will do other things (i.e. I believe the letter A will switch Braille display modes). I have a feeling this is what is probably going on because the BrailleNote has a full Braille keyboard so should in fact be fully adapted for use with BrailleIn. You have to download the signed drivers from the Humanware website. They work with both the BrailleNote Apex and mPower. I have a BrailleNote Apex and an older mPower and both experience an odd issue where two new lines do not appear properly when I press ENTER twice. BrailleIn otherwise works great. Can you try typing a sentence, doing two new lines, and then type another sentence? Be sure you're in a multiline edit field in Internet Explorer and feel free to try either on your BrailleNote or your Focus. Thanks! Where in internet Explorer should i find a multi-line edit field? (that's why I'm asking about forms Mode. You can't do multi-line edits without autoforms enabled; or can you? One could paste in from Notepad, but that's not the same thing. I'm still using windows Xp; and, as I said, my brailleNote is QWERTY (QT) so the braille grade switching can't apply. [JAWS-Users] New googlegroups interface and JAWS
Hi, How are people getting on with JAWS and the new-look google groups interface? JAWS has trouble interpreting between links, buttons and menus. Often there the virtual cursor stays off, when it should be on. NVDA is doing a better job than JAWS with it at the moment. Can anyone relate, or relate their experiences if similar or different? Again, it's the weirdest thing and very difficult to explain. But basically, I can't insert two new line characters in a row properly. The only way is to insert a new line, type some text, move my cursor back, and then insert the other new line. At the moment I'm using a Humanware BrailleNote as my Braille display, so it's very possible that the behaviour is specific to the Humanware displays. Has anyone experienced any odd behaviour like this with any model of Braille display? Thanks, Grant

Interesting; I've used webmail clients for upwards of ten years now, long before auto forms mode was ever introduced, and pressing enter would always insert a new line in a multi line edit field; the PC cursor command would take me out of forms mode. I wonder why it worked differently on your system - sounds like a bug as it wouldn't make sense to not be able to interact with a multi line edit field. Anyways, the behaviour with BrailleIn on my systems works regardless of whether you are using auto or forms mode as it isn't a forms mode issue, so feel free to give it a go for me in IE and report back. :) Grant On 7/23/12, Flor Lynch florl...@iol.ie wrote: In the Forms Mode as of old and as i still have it set up in IE, before AutoForms Mode was introduced a few versions ago, pressing enter takes you into Forms Mode and pressing enter again takes you out of Forms Mode again. Perhaps there is a setting which controls the enter key from exiting forms Mode (until, let's say, you get to the submit button). However, NOT EVERYTHING reads properly IN FORMS MODE, especially in non-standard forms (of which there are legion on the internet). For now, my bet is that the Focus 40 Blue or other focus, bbeing an FS supported display, will not have the problem you have with the brailleNote from humanware. - Original Message - From: Grant Hardy grantha...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 1:08 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with JAWS BrailleIn Interesting; I've used webmail clients for upwards of ten years now, long before auto forms mode was ever introduced, and pressing enter would always insert a new line in a multi line edit field; the PC cursor command would take me out of forms mode. Ah, I think i have it now. When you get into the message body, pressing enter won't take you out of forms Mode. Meantime, I sent you and brailled in the below (via gmail). we have to braille in uncontracted, let jaws do the conversion to contracted braille. we now began a new paragraph. we are using 6-dot braille, and also having to remember that the punctuation signs are also different (because of computer braille). excuse the non-capitals; but, not being familiar with 8-dot braille i don't know the correct keys for them yet. 2 (Ok, sorry about that 2 down there. but as you have seen for yourself, not everything's the same when you braille in an email via the Web (as distinct from typing or brailling it in from an email program). the paragraphing is working as it should. - Original Message - From: Flor Lynch florl...@iol.ie To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 1:27 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with JAWS BrailleIn Perhaps there is a setting which controls the enter key from exiting forms Mode (until, let's say, you get to the submit button).
