Re: [JAWS-Users] colours

2012-07-23 Thread Steve
You can tell the color of a particular item with insert-5.

You can probably write a rule in the skim reading tool to detect certain
colors. I recall setting one of those up in the past, but you might need to
know what specific color to look for.
Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with JAWS BrailleIn

2012-07-23 Thread Grant Hardy
Hi Flor, no the forms mode issue isn't what I'm referring to - this
doesn't happen to me. Are you sure that in fact you are using the
correct BrailleNote drivers which support BrailleIn? If you're not,
then you won't be able to type in grade two Braille and the letters
will do other things (i.e. I believe the letter A will switch Braille
display modes). I have a feeling this is what is probably going on
because the BrailleNote has a full Braille keyboard so should in fact
be fully adapted for use with BrailleIn. You have to download the
signed drivers from the Humanware website. They work with both the
BrailleNote Apex and mPower.

I have a BrailleNote Apex and an older mPower and both experience an
odd issue where two new lines do not appear properly when I press
ENTER twice. BrailleIn otherwise works great. Can you try typing a
sentence, doing two new lines, and then type another sentence? Be sure
you're in a multiline edit field in Internet Explorer and feel free to
try either on your BrailleNote or your Focus.

Thanks!

 Hello all,

I have a problem with the JAWS BrailleIn feature. I'm running the
latest build of JAWS 13, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

The problem is when I try to quickly insert two new line characters
 on
my Braille display by pressing ENTER twice in succession. Rather
 than
inserting the two new lines, JAWS instead exhibits some weird
behaviour which is difficult to explain. It usually inserts one new
line character as requested, but doesn't insert the other. Instead,
 I
notice that either my cursor has been moved slightly, or there's a
random space that has appeared somewhere on the new line, or both
things happen. Again, it's the weirdest thing and very difficult to
explain. But basically, I can't insert two new line characters in a
row properly. The only way is to insert a new line, type some text,
move my cursor back, and then insert the other new line.

At the moment I'm using a Humanware BrailleNote as my Braille
 display,
so it's very possible that the behaviour is specific to the
 Humanware
 displays.

Has anyone experienced any odd behaviour like this with any model of
 Braille display?

 Thanks,

 Grant

Multiline edit fields, such as in the Gmail interface, work with auto
forms mode. If it isn't working for you then there's something wrong.
ENTER should not take you out of forms mode; that was never the way it
was intended to work, otherwise you wouldn't be able to make a new
line. The only way should be either to press ESCAPE or the PC Cursor
command.

Multiline edit fields, such as in the Gmail interface, work with auto
forms mode. If it isn't working for you then there's something wrong.
ENTER should not take you out of forms mode; that was never the way it
was intended to work, otherwise you wouldn't be able to make a new

Hi Flor, no the forms mode issue isn't what I'm referring to - this
doesn't happen to me. Are you sure that in fact you are using the
correct BrailleNote drivers which support BrailleIn? If you're not,
then you won't be able to type in grade two Braille and the letters
will do other things (i.e. I believe the letter A will switch
Braille

display modes). I have a feeling this is what is probably going on
because the BrailleNote has a full Braille keyboard so should in
fact

be fully adapted for use with BrailleIn.

Be
sure

try either on your BrailleNote or your Focus.

Thanks!

Hello all,

I have a problem with the JAWS BrailleIn feature. I'm running
the

latest build of JAWS 13, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

The problem is when I try to quickly insert two new line
characters
on
my Braille display by pressing ENTER twice in succession. Rather
than
inserting the two new lines, JAWS instead exhibits some weird
behaviour which is difficult to explain. It usually inserts one
new
line character as requested, but doesn't insert the other.
Instead,
I
notice that either my cursor has been moved slightly, or there's
a
random space that has appeared somewhere on the new line, or
both

things happen. Again, it's the weirdest thing and very difficult
to
explain. But basically, I can't insert two new line characters
in

a
row properly. The only way is to insert a new line, type some
text,
move my cursor back, and then insert the other new line.

At the moment I'm using a Humanware BrailleNote as my Braille
display,
so it's very possible that the behaviour is specific to the
Humanware
displays.

Has anyone experienced any odd behaviour like this with any
model

of
Braille display?

Thanks,

sense to not be able to interact with a multi line edit field.
Anyways, the behaviour with BrailleIn on my systems works regardless
of whether you are using auto or forms mode as it isn't a forms mode
issue, so feel free to give it a go for me in IE and report back. :)

it, which It is not my purpose to go into here.)

Multiline edit fields, such as in the Gmail interface, work with
auto
forms mode. If it isn't working for you then there's something
wrong.
ENTER should not take you out of forms mode; that was never the way
it

was intended to work, otherwise you wouldn't be able to make a new
line. The only way should be either to press ESCAPE or the PC
Cursor

command.

Where in internet Explorer should i find a multi-line edit field?
(that's why I'm asking about forms Mode. You can't do multi-line
edits
without autoforms enabled; or can you? One could paste in from
Notepad,
but that's not the same thing. I'm still using windows Xp; and, as
I

said, my brailleNote is QWERTY (QT) so the braille grade switching
can't
apply. I can, however, probably test the Focus. Also, i do have
Autoforms Mode enabled in Firefox, so I know that multi-line edits
are
possible there. Oh, I guess I could try an email from gmail, then.

Hi Flor, no the forms mode issue isn't what I'm referring to -
this

doesn't happen to me. Are you sure that in fact you are using the
correct BrailleNote drivers which support BrailleIn? If you're
not,
then you won't be able to type in grade two Braille and the
letters

will do other things (i.e. I believe the letter A will switch
Braille
display modes). I have a feeling this is what is probably going
on

because the BrailleNote has a full Braille keyboard so should in
fact
be fully adapted for use with BrailleIn. You have to download the
signed drivers from the Humanware website. They work with both
the

BrailleNote Apex and mPower.

I have a BrailleNote Apex and an older mPower and both experience
an

odd issue where two new lines do not appear properly when I press
ENTER twice. BrailleIn otherwise works great. Can you try typing
a

sentence, doing two new lines, and then type another sentence? Be
sure

[JAWS-Users] Changing the Jaws Start up message

2012-07-23 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi list,

Is it still possible to reconfigure the jaws start up message to make it say
something other than jaws for windows for ready?
If there is, can you tell me how to.

Regards
Kerry
