Damien, Go into your aplication JAWS Configuration manager - JAWSKey+6, then control shift d for the default (if you wish); Ptress alt-s, g for 'graphics and symbols'. there's a group of five settings. Choose from among them. It may be that you changed the verbosity (which was once called ANSI Character Verbosity) here. there's not a lot we can do about the vagaries of Eloquence' synthesized pronunciation. (One person sometimes hears the same sounds differently than another. Try the É with other vowels and consonants, and I think the sound differs slightly between one and another.) Éadrom, Light. JAWS speaks the word correctly, but, when I arrow through the Irish word character by character, JAWS speaks the following: cap É a d r o m. [JAWS-Users] Jumping PC cursor
Hi, I have a problem what I think it has to do with the Jaws PC cursor. I could be on the desktop or in a folder with file names. It makes no difference. When I bring up the desktop, the cursor does not always land back on the Icon that I Started with. For example, I press enter on my computer, perform my task and Alt+F4. When the desktop is displayed, the cursor could be on another Icon instead of my computer icon. This is the same when I go into a folder. I could be on a file that I want to open and when I press enter on it, the cursor jumps to another file and opens that one. This can also happen when in my favorites. I press enter on a particular shortcut that I want to go to and the cursor jump to another shortcut and bring up that web page. I don't have to press enter for the cursor to jump. I can land on a file name and not doing anything, the cursor jumps anyway. This problem doesn't occur within an application like Excel or Word. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the video intercept? Perhaps the video intercept is corrupted and/or needs to be repaired or updated? This problem happens in both the latest Jaws 12 and Jaws13. I am using windows XP . I have a laptop with windows7 and this problem does not occur in either Jaws12 13. Does Jaws 12 or 13 use video intercept or have FS change this? Any suggestion on how to correct this problem will greatly be appreciated. Thank you. Take care. try the numpad5 3 times quickly. you should hear a number. you can turn numlock on and while holding down the alt key enter 063 on your numpad and then release the alt key. you should get this symbol: £ and of course, when the cursor goes over that character, jaws says nothing unless you press the numpad5 3 times quickly. Re: [JAWS-Users] Key Echo
Try your start up wizard The easiest way to do this is insert j to bring up the jaws interface now tap alt h then z tab about three times and there is the radio button for all options like characters, characters and words, words or none tab to okay and then let me know how you have done! Re: [JAWS-Users] entering the symbol for british pound?
Hi Flor, If you follow the steps below, what £ symbol do you get? Is it the 1 for the weight of something or the British Pounds? You can also press Insert + 4, on the number row above the main keyboard for the symbols list, arrow down to £, press enter. Pressing enter on the symbol will place it where ever you are in a file when you press enter. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] entering the symbol for british pound?
Flor, So, ASCII code, 156 ANSI value 0163 are the same symbols, just have different meaning according to how you are using them, whether it be for weight or currency. Is this correct? Thank you very much. Take care.
