So the question I have a friend I gave my old computer too. He had some work
done on it and getting it back now the e-mail is asking for password
according to him. I in my senior moment forgot is this a administrator
thing or? to which careful instructions on how to fix the issue so he
doesn't have to worry about passwords? Again!

Thanks in advance for your help.

That is still on the list of things to finish. It will be there for the
next public beta. In the meantime, you can go to the downloads pages:

http://www.freedomscientific.com/downloads/Vocalizer/VocalizerDirect.asp

And get the voices from there. Once you install the voices, you can set up
new voice profiles for each voice you install. I suggest naming them based
on the voice name you use to create them.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws friendly FTP client with special features

Hello all,
I use FileZilla at work and my sighted co-workers can drag and drop files from
windows explorer to the desired folder on the FTP server via File Zilla. I
tried to copy and paste hoping it would do the same thing, but no luck. Is
there another FTP client where you can copy and paste files from windows
explorer to the desired folder within the FTP client?

Or maybe a way to link the FTP folder directly to windows explorer as if it's
another network drive?

disappointed in that they don't have the Vocalizer version of Jennifer. She

[JAWS-Users] Audio Player/Volume Controls

2012-09-13 Thread Trish
This morning I had an interesting situation re the volume control also known
as audio-player, which in my system tray resides, but this morning upon
booting up, item was not listed.
Then few short minutes it showed up stating...audio player not running.
Apparently, this seems to affect Jaws performance, as Jaws was studdering,
going in/out. I had some window's updates that I installed, and after
rebooting, Jaws really came into my speakers super loud, but then went back
to it's normal volume. I also heard like a skipping sound as Jaws was
speaking at same time.

So, what is this audio player and is there settings I might need to
set/change so in future this doesn't happen? I know it's somehow connected
also to externals I plug into the laptop such as: thumb drives, etc.

It also seems to be associated to my DVD player and there's some settings as
I tab through that for the most part are set at, take no action. But on this
DVD setting it was checked to use version 10 or as closely as I remember it
to say.
I'm thinking something here is checked that shouldn't be and is creating
havoc at times with Jaws, would anyone know about any of this?

This is on Window's 7 laptop running Jaws 13.

Thanks for any help..

Trish

installed Autosizer in an effort to eliminate this problem, but it has not.
I can get rid of it by pressing alt - Control - x, but this is a pain. Is
there any way I can permanently eliminate this problem and stop JAWS from
continually saying this which is a genuine annoyance after reading hundreds
of messages daily?
Thanks for any help.
Liuda

Regarding Jennifer missing from Vocalizer...
Nuance seems to have dropped Jennifer as an option for Vocalizer which is why
she was included in RealSpeak Direct but missing from our Vocalizer pages.
Sorry about that, I liked that voice as well. Try Samantha out, you need to
turn down her volume a little but I find her to be very good also.

I've tried it too a little bit. Not the scrypt thing, but JAWS 14 it self, it
seems to be fine so far. The real test is to try it with Windows 8. Rick Harmon
has done it, and he says it's fine. Mind you he's using the RTM, which I have

they don't have the Vocalizer version of Jennifer. She was my favorite. I don't

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws friendly FTP client with special features

2012-09-13 Thread Don Marang
Yes, in Windows 7, you can map a file server to a network drive letter.
Select Map... from the Tools menu of Windows Explorer. Then Tab to
the Connect to a Web Server and store documents and pictures link, and
follow the prompts in the wizard. This can be very convenient, since
it can always be available if you check the Reconnect at login.
However the performance is very slow.

Filezilla works well as long as you place the remote and local folders
panes to the proper locations and use the applications key. For
instance, select a folder or files in the local folder pane and press
the applications key. Then select upload.

Now if they can only write a proper Afrikaans voice for us that would be
nice!

The sSouth African English voice actually handles some Afrikaans words well.

Wonder if there is a way to contact the developers to find out if there
would be interest in developing an Afrikaans voice.

At this stage I use Flemish Ellen which works reasonably well.

Regarding Jennifer missing from Vocalizer...
Nuance seems to have dropped Jennifer as an option for Vocalizer which is
why she was included in RealSpeak Direct but missing from our Vocalizer
pages. Sorry about that, I liked that voice as well. Try Samantha out, you
need to turn down her volume a little but I find her to be very good also.

Try this: When the JAWS cursor follows the PC cursor (unbidden), Press
the ctrl+JAWSKey+NumpadMinus keys once to alter that state. Now, the
JAWS cursor will not follow the PC cursor. Now again press those keys,
twice quickly. That's the recommended method and is supposed to work
across all applications until you reverse the change. (14 is beta

Yes you can but probably not at the same time although that last I am not

Subject: [JAWS-Users] windows live mail, and out look question?

Hi I have a question about windows mail, and out look.

Is it ok to use both programs for different reasons? I know one program can
be run at a time, as default, but for sending new messages, I like outlook,
but reading and replying I like windows live mail.

I have been trying to use both programs today, and I like out look for new
messages, and windows for reading and replying? Reading email in windows
live mail there is so much les junk that jaws reads, but setting up a new
message by first letter navigation uis so much butter, so is it ok to use
both programs for different things? Or will some how they will clash. Thanks
so much susie

Re: [JAWS-Users] Is there anyone here who can please contact meofflist in setting up a gmail address?

2012-09-13 Thread inthaneelf
here,

hot off the presses today!
A new captcha solving service designed expressly for blind computer users
has just been launched. Called ZCaptcha, it sounds similar to the defunct
Solona captcha-solving service whereby captchas are decoded by sighted human
operators submitted to them by blind users. There is a nominal fee of 21
cents per captcha, and the service apparently works with all browsers. For
more information:

Good luck, none of the captcha solving things I had available worked on
creating a GMail account, except for a pair of eyes. Webvisum claimed it
solved the captcha, but I couldn't create the account in GMail. That
recaptcha service Google uses that supposedly makes the audio accessible is
a bunch of garbage.

If you want as an alternative, you can create an email address on
outlook.com or Yahoo which are more accessible.

Hello all,
I use FileZilla at work and my sighted co-workers can drag and drop files
from windows explorer to the desired folder on the FTP server via File
Zilla. I tried to copy and paste hoping it would do the same thing, but no
luck. Is there another FTP client where you can copy and paste files from
windows explorer to the desired folder within the FTP client?

Or maybe a way to link the FTP folder directly to windows explorer as if
it's another network drive?

hmmm, David, I actually think her combo can be done, but don't ask me for
the instructions unless I'm the last hope.

I think outlook has a checkbox in the (options I think) so it does not
receive mail when opened, and I do know that it has the ability to leave a
copy of the messages on the server! so I think with some mucking about, and
a bottle of aspirin, (or maybe Vicodin) it could be done.

You just install it like you always would. It won't mess up JAWS 13, I've
had to versions on 1 PC before, I just took away JAWS 13 this time so it's
not waisting space.

I had to install it twice before it would work.
But after that, it seems to run very smoothly.
As far as the voices so far, I like the samantha voice the best.
Thanks Eric and F S for all your hard work...
I will keep on testing it and playing with it...

Oh yeah, If you do do like I did, It'll stay activated because it uses your
JAWS 13 actqivation. So if you do do it, don't get rid of J 13 until J 14 is
all set.
