Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with jaws not starting immediately when Iboot my PC

2012-09-21 Thread inthaneelf
its the extream answer, but the far end extream answer is, you should have
an option in your start menu to restore to system factory default this
will whipe out everything that wasn't on the machine from the factory but
that should get things running correctly without needing a compleate pain in
the brain reload.

before this though, i would go to microsoft and download there microsoft
safty scanner from:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
its a free independant scanner that you download and run if you think you
may have caught something that has disabled your regular anti virus, even in
your case i would run it and this:
mcafee's Stinger; you can download the latest version from:
http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free
-tools/stinger.aspx

that takes you to the agreement page, the next link is the direct download
link, which is what you need to go to if your going to agree and download
stinger:
download link:
http://downloadcenter.mcafee.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger/stinger.exe

** note any of those links might break in Emailing, so if they show up on
two lines look for a blank space at the end of the first line and remove
it if its there or reassemble the entire link by copying it into note pad
and taking out the blank spots before copying it again and pasting it into
the I.E. or firefox address bars.

these two scanners pulled my rear out of the fire, and kicked A$$ on the
frying pan the one time i got a virus last year, and there redone by the
makers as often as necessary so there ready for the newest, latest viruses.

hope this helps,
inthane

I have this same exact problem and there is a lag time of from 4 to 5
minutes before JAWS 12 comes up talking in windows 7. I worked with Freedom
Scientific also and only have JAWS and the antivirus starting at Start-Up
now, nothing else, but the problem still remains. How could I do anything
with the antivirus to see if this is the problem? My antivirus was disabled
against my will and ever since that happened, I have had this problem which
is so annoying. I had Tech Support from the antivirus company on the phone
for two days, but they checked all kinds of other things which were not the
problem, unfortunately and the system is squeaky clean.
Thanks for any ideas and is there anything I can do myself to check anything
out or do anything to get this back to where it always was?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Important, System restore question

2012-09-21 Thread Flor Lynch

Hi,

When you go to your Inbox, you are in a tree view of folders. (Shift-tab
away from the message list if you're there.) Up-arrow or backspace from
Inbox. You will see Local Folders opened. (lerft arrow closes it. In the
same way, if your Inbox says opened, left-arrow closes it.) Now
down-arrow to see the list of folders on the same level. Now when you
create a new folder, assuming you do that, create it here, not in or
under the inbox. (This in some measure protects you if your Inbox
becomes corrupted. If all of your other created folders are under the
inbox they too would have become corrupted.)

You could try ScanDisk. that just might restore the emails as they
were.

In the distant past, when i had a problem like this, I eventually
did, successfully, get all of my folders with messages back through
the Run dialogue (and Windows Explorer), by renaming each of the
folders - in its turn - Inbox.dbx. After each rename, I would reopen
outlook Express; and the lost messages for that renamed folder would
then appear. I would then, using Outlook Express itself, having
deleted the malfunctioning older folder beforehand, create a new
folder (as if it were the old lost one) in outlook Express and move
the messages from my newly created Inbox back to it. (It didn't
work unless I did all of this.) I also needed to close (and then
reopen Outlook Express when ready), after each new creation of the
inbox.dbx file/folder.

If you look in your Recycle Bin, you may discover that you have .dbx
files that were put there when Outlook Express compacted emails.
(This has happened for the past nearly six years, in the compaction
process. there are instructions you can google for restoring such
.dbx files if you google a phrase such as, restore .dbx files. In
future, put all of your own OE folders at the same level as your
Inbox, not under it; i.e., at the level under Local Folders (as the
Inbox and outbox, etc, are in the same order already).

It is my understanding, restore won't do it.
There is a way to go to the storage folder and retrieve messages,
but I never had to or did it.

To get there.
One
in the preview control+ shift+ o for options
Go to the maintenance page and enter on store folder
Than tab to the pass
Copy it and paste it in the run box
enter and your bdx folders should be there.
Maybe a google search may be able to instruct you how to get your
messages back.

[JAWS-Users] Very, very frustrating issue with the forms load options

2012-09-21 Thread Maheen
Hi all,

When I try to search for something in google, google would automatically start
searching for something I did not search for, and jaws acts very sluggish. This
is beyond frustrating to the point where I want to down grade back to 11. Now,
with jaws 14, is it still the same way so when I hit an edit field, it makes a
popping sound? I would rather prefer when I enter on the forms load option and
jaws saying, forms load on. FS said that this has been changed now.

I have seen this behavior 2 or 3 times using the beta. The Shift + F10

behaves strangely for me when memory gets scarce! I closed many windows
and restarted JAWS. The issue went away. I am not sure whether this is
worth reporting, since many applications, like VMware Workstation and

[JAWS-Users] problem with 14 beta and Jaws in logon dialog

pressed? perhaps is my ptoblem and not jaws,

Its not all the time and I have no idea when I lose it.
would be interested if anybody else has this issue.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Very, very frustrating issue with the forms load options

2012-09-21 Thread inthaneelf
it performs as normal for me with jaws 13, so, h,
have you tried clearing out your cache and temporary files and such,
(depending on your I.E. version its tools and generally the first item in
the list, just tab through and enter or check (depending on version again)
on all the little spots, if you save your passwords I would skip that one
though (although that's not a good idea to use that) because it will dump
all the security information and you will be asked again if you wish to save
the password, even besides the fact that it will dump any that are saved.

good luck,

Hi all,

When I try to search for something in google, google would automatically
start searching for something I did not search for, and jaws acts very
sluggish. This is beyond frustrating to the point where I want to down grade
back to 11. Now, with jaws 14, is it still the same way so when I hit an
edit field, it makes a popping sound? I would rather prefer when I enter on
the forms load option and jaws saying, forms load on. FS said that this has
been changed now.

Re: [JAWS-Users] format menu in windows seven?

2012-09-21 Thread inthaneelf
I've been told that the older keystrokes still work, if so then alt and o
should get you into the formatting area, and f will do font from there
hopefully.

also have you tried just having the window selected (control and A) and then
hitting the apps key, that used to have the font and paragraph sub menu's in
them as well

Re: [JAWS-Users] Major e mail issue with outlook express

2012-09-21 Thread inthaneelf
ok, I'm a bit behind so am going to send this along just in case.

what you need to do (and i can only hope you can), is:
1. open O.E.
2. go to the tools menu and then to options and enter on it.
3. in here control tab to the maintence tab, in here you should have a
button marked save folder or something like this.
enter on that, and shift tab into the edit box with the huge path in it,
(this is where your folders are stored, hit home, hit control shift and end
to select the whole thing and control c to copy it.
4. paste the address you just copied into note pad.

now then this is where we start the preyare wheel spinning and hope the
planets are in a good alignment!

this should be the location where the database files that hold your messages
and the like were being stored (if it turns out to not be the case we will
attack that if/when we need to)
so:
5. get your backup drive running
6. depending on how your backups are stored, will make this tricky, if its a
image, it will probably be an iso image, if so you will need a application
to mount or give you access to, the information stored in the image, if
its in zip files youll need to unzip the one that has your c drive on it,
with the main sections in it. (look at that path, it will tell you what you
need to find and have access to)
if you have a direct copy of the drive, thats phonomal, replace the C at the
beginning of your path with the backup drive letter and paste it into the
run dialog box

whatever means you need to employ, you need to make it so you can get to
that place in the backup where your files are stored that corrasponds with
the original path you copied!
6. when you get to this location, copy all the .dbm files you will find
there, there will be a number of them!

7. Now, make sure that you totally close out O.E.
not minimized, not held in reserve in the system tray, closed!
8. go to the location on your original path that you copied (if you changed
the C: to the backup drive letter, change it back now) and paste the files
into this location, and say yes to all the replacements (xp has that nice
yes to all, use it!)
9. when all has copied, close out the backup drive, and restart your
computer.

10. open O.E. and take a look, it should have all your email files up to the
point of your last backup in place now.

sorry i don't know how to get more back, a tool like disk digger, or more
superior file retrieval tools might be able to get them, but i don't know
and can garentee nothing

i used to use a application called E-backup that is available from:
www.jfwlite.com/programs
along with the jaws scripts there for it (yes there still working and have
been up to jaws 13 on windows XP)
it makes a seperate backup in a single file that it (the application which i
kept on a disk) can install along with your internet explorer favorites
folder. and makes email retrieval a much faster and simpler deal.

HTH,
inthane

You sent to the list. If you blocked someone from the list, they will
still get the message if sent through the list. You can look in your
Blocked Senders List by, from the message list, pressing alt+t, r, s.
Then down arrow and unblock the sender you wish to unblock by removing
him/her from the list, by tabbing to the Remove button and activating
it.

If your Sent Items.dbx folder got corrupted, you may wish to delete it
(Outside of outlook Express, and it closed)). Outlook Express will
create a brand-new empty Sent items folder when you re-open it.
