Have him boot into safe mode. Download anti malware bytes, and run that
utility. It will get rid of the problem.

2013-03-11 Thread Baracco, Andrew W
Actually, I have experienced this behavior with the last few JAWS
versions, and it's annoying, to say the least. Also, with JAWS 14, at
the beginning of reading a message, JAWS will read one stray word,
usually from the first line of text, before it starts reading the header
material. Not a big thing, but a little annoying.

Many times in reading a message, Jaws doesn't just start to read it,
although it is supposed to do it. Many times, I just hear, read only
edit. The only way I can correct this, is to unload jaws and load it
again. Then, it works for awhile, and then goes back to what it was
doing before. Is there a fix for this? I'm running jaws 14 on a windows

Thanks for your help. Jim

And if it won't boot to safe mode, he has a decision to make. If he has
stuff on it he can't live without, find a tech to pull the stuff off and
do a factory restore. If he doesn't care about anything on it, just do
a factory restore, usually buried under the f8 menu, or sometimes under

pc is powered up. Usually after the first good infection, there isn't

[JAWS-Users] Perenial problem with radio bottons

2013-03-11 Thread Miriam Vieni
Well first, is that what they're called, radio buttons? Or is it radial
buttons? Anyway, I have had this problem before, on my previous XP computer
with Jaws 12 and on this WIN7 computer with Jaws 13 and whith my extremely
magnified Magic, I can see what's there and what isn't happening. I was
trying to do this NLS survey, actually, I was trying to do it twice and this
happened to me two times. There were these options to check and Jaws was
reading them and I could see these buttons to the left of each option. But
the space bar either wouldn't check the option at all, or it checked the
wrong option. So I'd try to get Jaws to read that line and I'd then use the
left arrow to go to the left of the first letter of the option I wanted.
Sometimes, that worked and I could check the option. But sometimes, it
didn't work at all. And then if I pressed shift tab to go back to where I
was at the beginning of the page, I'd be in Bing Search with a bunch of My
Favorites listed underneath. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the
correct radio button checked? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Perenial problem with radio bottons

2013-03-11 Thread Dan Rossi

Miriam,

They are called radio buttons. If you remember the old style radios that
had big buttons on them. When you would push one button in, the one that
was pushed in, would pop out. The idea is that only one button can be
selected at a time.

Your problem may come from trying to look at the screen and listen to
JAWS. Just listen to JAWS. As you tab onto the radio button it will
announce the button selection, if that is the one you want, you can hit
the space bar. If you are using the arrow keys, sometimes you will hear
button before or after the label for that button. Hitting space on the
label won't do anything.Just tab and you should be fine. I took that
same survey earlier today and didn't notice anything strange about it.

Mike,

As I understood it, there are two steps to this process: Two run
commands. After step one, the first run command, you press enter to
close the dialogue. then start run again and do step 2, and close the
dialogue. (This is normally how such two-step run instructions work.

Mike, it is a two step process. Do the first run, close the dialog box, and do
the
second run. And by the way, it only worked for about gten minutes, so it doesn't
really matter does it. Frown. Good old FS.

Hi Jim,

After putting the lines of text into the Run Dialog, are you supposed to
press enter or close the Run dialog without pressing enter? Just curious
because I know that there are lesser experienced Outlook users on this list
that will need the precise steps to do this themselves. I don't run Outlook
so, I can't experiment with your steps myself. Thank you very much.
Take care.

Andy, I just did was FS said to do, and it is fixed I think.

Here's what they said to do.

Windows key and R.

2. now type exactly as I say here. Outlook.exe /cleanviews

3. Close the windows run box.

4. Reopen the windows key R again, and type this. Outlook.exe /resetnavpane.

If I didn't screw this up, it should work for you. If my attempt to relay
this
right failed, FS can straighten it out. Jim

selected at a time.

Your problem may come from trying to look at the screen and listen to JAWS.
Just listen to JAWS. As you tab onto the radio button it will announce the
button selection, if that is the one you want, you can hit the space bar.
If you are using the arrow keys, sometimes you will hear button before or

Actually, I have experienced this behavior with the last few JAWS versions,
and it's annoying, to say the least. Also, with JAWS 14, at the beginning of
reading a message, JAWS will read one stray word, usually from the first
line of text, before it starts reading the header material. Not a big thing,
but a little annoying.

it works for awhile, and then goes back to what it was doing before. Is
