Re: [JAWS-Users] An annoying jaws problem in outlook 2007.
Actually, I have experienced this behavior with the last few JAWS versions, and it's annoying, to say the least. Also, with JAWS 14, at the beginning of reading a message, JAWS will read one stray word, usually from the first line of text, before it starts reading the header material. Not a big thing, but a little annoying. [JAWS-Users] Perenial problem with radio bottons
Well first, is that what they're called, radio buttons? Or is it radial buttons? Anyway, I have had this problem before, on my previous XP computer with Jaws 12 and on this WIN7 computer with Jaws 13 and whith my extremely magnified Magic, I can see what's there and what isn't happening. I was trying to do this NLS survey, actually, I was trying to do it twice and this happened to me two times. There were these options to check and Jaws was reading them and I could see these buttons to the left of each option. But the space bar either wouldn't check the option at all, or it checked the wrong option. So I'd try to get Jaws to read that line and I'd then use the left arrow to go to the left of the first letter of the option I wanted. Sometimes, that worked and I could check the option. But sometimes, it didn't work at all. And then if I pressed shift tab to go back to where I was at the beginning of the page, I'd be in Bing Search with a bunch of My Favorites listed underneath. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the correct radio button checked? Has anyone else ever had this problem? Re: [JAWS-Users] Perenial problem with radio bottons
Miriam, They are called radio buttons. If you remember the old style radios that had big buttons on them. When you would push one button in, the one that was pushed in, would pop out. The idea is that only one button can be selected at a time. Your problem may come from trying to look at the screen and listen to JAWS. Just listen to JAWS. As you tab onto the radio button it will announce the button selection, if that is the one you want, you can hit the space bar. If you are using the arrow keys, sometimes you will hear button before or after the label for that button. Hitting space on the label won't do anything.Just tab and you should be fine. I took that same survey earlier today and didn't notice anything strange about it. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Senior Oracle Database Administrator Carnegie Mellon University. Well, it didn't work that way for me. I didn't look until I was forced to. When I tabbed, It read the choice but when I pressed the space bar, it didn't check the button. It did work if I pressed R which moved me from choice to choice and allowed me to check the button I wanted. Re: [JAWS-Users] An annoying jaws problem in outlook 2007.
I've observed with JAWS 14 that I have to make sure manually that the cursor is at the first line of the message, then give a READ-ALL command. As far as a mute issue, JAWS seems to stop reading in both e-mail messages and on web pages, and I have to repeat my READ-ALL command to get it to resume reading. Also, with JAWS 14, at the beginning of reading a message, JAWS will read one stray word, usually from the first line of text, before it starts reading the header material. Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 8 problem or not?
Ah so yours is doing odd things too then. I have strange stuff happening with mine. The slider to turn the wireless radio on or off is gone. Very odd. Same situation with JAWS. The card is off. I can't get it back on. I've seen the odd sys tray thing too but when I wake it from sleep. It was fine until last Wednesday. I upgraded it when Win 8 came out and it was fine from then till last Wednessday like I said. I also have a problem with Sound Forge all of the suden asking me to register it and that was fine before. Miriam, OK, instead of trying to figure out if you need to use r for radio button, x for check box, e for edit box, just hit f. It will take you to the next form element whatever it is. As long as you are in virtual cursor mode, just arrowing down the page will get you there as well, but that doesn't seem to be working for you, so just keep hitting f. -- Blue skies. woe folks, slow down a little, this may be what is needed but there are other items that can fix this that should be tried unless as Chris said, there is nothing of real importance on the computer. it may take a tech to run them in safe mode but if anyone can get the following files from the URL's given, put them on a thumb drive and then run them on the infected computer, they may well be able to clean the problem out: independent download anti-virus hunt and kill files: download these, on another computer if necessary put them on a thumb drive and run them. each is updated quite often so new downloads are necessary to make sure there up to date. 1.
