When I used Insert+B to read the Sort dialog box, I heard less information
than I can find using Tab. Using the JAWS cursor to navigate the dialog box
yielded an interesting result. It read everything that I can find with TAB,
but a lot of it was read together. I could not find any info that tells me
what level I am on. The only clue is whether you find an up and/or down
level button.

Hi Scott,

Unfortunately, I now have more questions about sorting levels in Office 2010
than answers.

I did find that after you add a level, a new button appears in the dialog
box between Copy level and Options. The name of this button changes between
Move up and Move Down. When it is labeled Move Down, JAWS announces
Control+Down arrow, and when the button is labeled move Up JAWS
Control+announces Up Arrow. If you have more than 2 levels, you will
Control+find 2 buttons
between Copy Level and Options. One is labeled Move Down and the other Move
Up. The Control Arrow commands still correspond in the same way as
described above. At this point I have not play around with Sort when there
are the 2 buttons. So the rest of what I have to say relates to when there
is only one of these buttons.

It appears that you can use either Control+Arrows or Space to change this
button. The problem comes in when you go and look at the values for the
sort. It does not appear to change, and there is nothing that tells you
what level you are on and how many levels actually exist. The next step
would be to do some investigating with the JAWS cursor, as well as get some
sighted assistance to get an understanding to what is displayed on the
screen.

Maybe someone else will jump in and shed more light on this topic.

HTH,
Annette

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Office 2010 from Office 2003. I have found that
sorting data in Excel, like many things, works differently in Office 2010.
In Excel 2003 and earlier, when sorting data, all of the sort fields are
right there together and you can tab and shift tab back and forth between
them. In Excel 2010, you set the parameters for one sort level , you add a
level, and then set the parameters for that level . When you add a level,
JAWS focus moves to the parameters for that level and, as far as I can tell,
you can't go back to the previous level to look at the parameters or change
them. Is there a easy way to do this?

Thanks,

Scott Duck

Maybe you need a higher verbosity settings? If you do make changes in
the Settings Center, then you should be asked when you close with
alt-F4, do you want to save the changes? Some changes can only take
effect if you make them in the Default Settings Center, and you should
be told this. Unload JAWS then reload.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] google settings in IE10

I turned on my computer this morning to find that IE10 had been installed.
Now, I keep getting that horrible google instant when I go to my homepage.
How can I stop that? In IE 9, I used to periodically get a link that said,
screen readers, turn off google instant. That worked but it's not coming
up anymore.

I've got jaws 14 latest, win 7, and now google wants to make me crazy. I
managed, after some effort, to open the settings page in google. There's a
set of buttons for when to use google instant. Fine, but when I am on the
never use google instant spacebar, enter, and the left mouse button
don't
do a thing other than send me into forms mode! I tried with the jaws
cursor

and the left mouse button and nothing happened. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Karen

Re: [JAWS-Users] shut down on the desktop

2013-03-20 Thread David Ferrin
Thank you Karen, in fact there are over 120 shortcuts on the page in
question. There is another pertaining to XP as well. Honestly in some cases
the same shortcut works on both operating systems.

I don't know how long it took me to zip up each and every icon separately
for download but it was quite a repetitive morning for sure.

The reason for zipping them up in case anybody is interested is simply if I
had not done that and let's say somebody hit the link for the shutdown icon
then there system would simply do that very thing.

I had the same issue with my bank, the reason was the author set security
settings in the creation of the file which disables all access technology
unfortunately. Fortunately I can still do online banking quite easily so
life goes on.

I am using the latest jaws with win 7 hp 32 bit. I have an e-statement. When

I try to open the pdf file nothing happens and it goes back to the email
positioned on the file. If I take jaws out the pdf file opens. It is a
spottalk statement.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to read a capcia

2013-03-20 Thread inthaneelf
there is this service, see below:

 http://www.azavia.com/zcaptcha.html
 Hello.

Zcaptcha service at above URL. Costs 18 cents per captcha reading. All
instructions are at the above URL. Only drawback I've found is that it
can take up to 15min sometimes for the human being on the other side
to send back the captcha image as JAWS readable text. But hey
beggars cant be choosers and I'm just glad such a service now exists
and I've been able to successfully and easily use it.

You are supposed to add money to your account after you create an
account via the web page above. Only way they allow u to add money is via
PayPal.
So you will have to have a PayPal account.

 Good luck

JFW List Subject: How to read capcia The other day I ran into a problem
