[JAWS-Users] temporary place marker issue

2013-03-22 Thread leonard morris
I am trying to use the temporary place marker in jaws v13. There's this
table on a web page listing telephone codes in the Philippines. I used
ctrl windows k to start the temp marker and used insert spacebar then m
to mark the end of the text. then ctrl c to copy to the clipboard. The
first issue is insert spacebar m jumped me to the bottom of the webpage.
Secondly when I opened notepad and used ctrl v to paste the text nothing
was pasted. The document said blank as I arrowed up and down. What could
I be doing incorrectly? If someone would like to test this go to

http://blog.vonage.com/philippines/how-to-call-philippines-from-the-u-s/

start the temporary marker at Here is a list of major area codes and
city calling codes. End the text selection at the bottom of the table
that says the number 62.

Hi David,

A note here to online bankers..
After spending most of the day dealing with banking issues at my credit
union because they updated security settings, they only support IE 8 and 9
browsers. They do support other ones different from IE, but v/10 is not on
the list and not recommended to use.

Of course, not all banks are functioning on same security guidelines, some
might find IE 10 doesn't affect their online banking needs at all. I just
wanted to alert anyone to the possibility of the upgrade if they experience
online logging in issues.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Google reader not loading additional entries

2013-03-22 Thread Flor Lynch
Have you gone into the View feed Properties, or is it possible to do
this with Google Reader? There is a 'show all' button which you can
activate, meaning show all available entries to your computer, including
even those which you might have lost if you refreshed the page. This is
possible in IE and (I think) in Firefox.

Yes, but that's to refresh/reload the page entirely. With the
insert+escape
command, additional entries continuously show up as one zips down the
same
page with the h command. This worked perfectly especially when dealing
with
hundreds of rss entries. If I were to reload the page (f5), I would
lose my
place in the stream and be placed at the top of the page with the
updated

entries. Something totally different.

F5 is the IE (and I think Firefox) Refresh keystroke. After that
Insert+escape. Gooigle seems to me to be no longer interested in

Hello list,

So I know that Google reader will be giving up the ghost in a few
months,
but as of right now, I'm still using it heavily. I recently have
encountered
an issue with Reader and was wondering if other users have
experienced

this
issue to or what I may do to fix it.

Since I subscribe to a lot of rss feeds, I have the webpage to
refresh

automatically under the web settings for Jaws (latest version) and
with page
refresh command insert+escape, I can quickly have more feeds show up
constantly instead of having to find and press the next button on the
page.
This is how I've been doing it for a very long while and it's always
worked
fine in both IE9 and Firefox.

A week or so ago, I noticed that doing the insert+escape no longer
loaded
additional items in IE and as I would zip down the page with the h
quick key
for headings, I would be cycled back to the top. Even when I would
click on
the next button. This wasn't too big of an issue since I use Firefox
as my
default browser and only sometimes use IE.

Starting yesterday though, I began to come across the same behavior
of

Reader only loading 20 or so messages and the insert+escape command
having
no impact with Firefox. The next button seems to work, but only to a
point.
If a particular feed or folder has a high number of entries, the next
button
will only work a few times and nothing will be loaded beyond forty or
fifty
entries.

I don't recall changing any settings either on my system or to Jaws
for
anything like this to change so I'm at a loss as to what to do to be
able to
continuously load more rss entries.

If anyone's experienced this problem too and if they've been able to
figure
out a solution, I'd sure love to hear it. For the time being, I've
been
zipping through my feeds through my iPhone and iPad. As convenient as
that
is however, there are times where I'd like to be able to do the same
on my
computer with Jaws.

Thanks,

[JAWS-Users] it works, IE10, google buttons

2013-03-22 Thread Karen Schrade
Thanks David for letting me know that the button might be checked even
though Jaws doesn't realize it. It works. I don't have those annoying google
instant options popping up.

I do not, however, have a link to disable google instant on the home page.

Thanks also to Dan R. I'll hang onto that url as it looks like it might be
more user friendly. Karen

Re: [JAWS-Users] Google reader not loading additional entries

2013-03-22 Thread Cristobal
Yes, but that's to refresh/reload the page entirely. With the insert+escape
command, additional entries continuously show up as one zips down the same
page with the h command. This worked perfectly especially when dealing with
hundreds of rss entries. If I were to reload the page (f5), I would lose my
place in the stream and be placed at the top of the page with the updated
entries. Something totally different.

F5 is the IE (and I think Firefox) Refresh keystroke. After that
Insert+escape. Gooigle seems to me to be no longer interested in

Hello list,

So I know that Google reader will be giving up the ghost in a few
months,
but as of right now, I'm still using it heavily. I recently have

This is how I've been doing it for a very long while and it's always

A week or so ago, I noticed that doing the insert+escape no longer
loaded
additional items in IE and as I would zip down the page with the h
quick key
for headings, I would be cycled back to the top. Even when I would
click on
the next button. This wasn't too big of an issue since I use Firefox
as my

default browser and only sometimes use IE.

Starting yesterday though, I began to come across the same behavior of

The thing about 7 is many shortcuts may be found by bringing them up in the
search box and then doing a send to command to the desktop. If I can add to
my 7 or 8 page for that matter some time I certainly will do so.

Re: [JAWS-Users] shutdown for windows eight

2013-03-22 Thread David Bailes
Hi David,
just a quick post script.
In both windows 7 and 8, an alternative to putting shortcuts to control panel
items on the desktop is to make use of jump lists. Pin the control panel to the
task bar, then in its jump list, pin the items which you use regularly. You can
use first letter navigation in a jump list, so it's quick to find what you want.

Re: [JAWS-Users] shutdown for windows eight

2013-03-22 Thread David Bailes
Hi David,
you can send stuff to the desktop in windows 8, it just takes more steps.
For programs, if you search from the start screen, open its context menu and
choose open file location, you can create a shortcut from there. For details
see the additional tasks section of this guide to the start screen:
http://goo.gl/GwlKh

For items in the control panel it's even more steps. If you search for settings
using windows key + w, then there's no context menu to open the file location.
So what you have to do is first pin the control panel item to the start screen.
To do this, in file explorer, in the tree view, move to the control panel, then
move down the tree to the control panel item that you want. Open its context
menu and choose pin to start. The item will now be listed when you search for
programs from the start screen, and so you can proceed as in the case of
programs.

David.
