From: "Annette Carr" I am using JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 computer. When typing the body
of an
e-mail message in Outlook 2010, I'm finding that all spaces and
hard returns
are missing. I will type up the message and JAWS is reading what
I type in
as it should. When I attempt to go to the top of the message to
re-read it,
I get absolutely no feedback from JAWS. I have to use Alt+Tab to
move away
from the message and then return to it. Once back in the
message, all of
the characters I typed are there, but there are no spaces or hard

the message. This is happening on both of my work computers.
Does anyone
have any ideas to what is going on and how to get rid of the

Re: [JAWS-Users] Tapin Radio

2014-02-22 Thread Flor Lynch
If you can't locate the source of the info precisely, as there are many
settings, this makes a fix to whatever problem you are having, more
difficult.

There is a checkmark/toggle for 'stream information' in the Status bar
settings menu. It will say 'checked' if it is on, but will not say
'unchecked' if it is off. So find it and press enter on it, to see or
hear the results (if any as you listen to a stream ) for a couple of
minutes.

Also, down in the preferences dialogue in Settings, if you shift-tab
from the start you will find about five tabs of peak meter adjustments.
Uncheck 'peak meter reading enabled', about five back from the start. .

Re: [JAWS-Users] adding Microsoft Security Essentials to the System Tray?

2014-02-22 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

Another way to get programs into the system tray in windows 7 is to pin the
program to the system tray. To do this, you must find the path for and the
name of the actual program. You can find this information in the properties
of a shortcut for the program. To view a shortcut's properties, focus on
the shortcut and press the applications key for the context menu. Then
arrow up one time and when it says properties, press enter. Focus will be
on the path and program name, which are highlighted. if you can't find a
shortcut, there usually will be one in the all programs menu of the start
menu. So navigate to the path and the program name. Be careful that you
navigate to the entry that has the same extension, such as exe, as the
shortcut. This may be a bit tricky, since if you hide file extensions,
there might be multiple entries in the folder that will read the same in
Windows. Once you have focus on the program you want, press the
applications key to open the context menu. Then arrow down to pin to system
tray and press enter. The program should show up the next time it's started
if not immediately.

Thanks for any help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question about Windows Updates

2014-02-22 Thread Chris Hill
Yep, they are not installing. There are ways to fix the problem, one
I've seen work is to turn off updating other microsoft products and then
turn it back on. I don't remember the exact wording, but the option to
do this is in windows update. 'm not sure if it is the one about "give
me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" or not.

Are they not really installing or what? is there a setting I need to

Google. If these are like other windows updates, fixing the problem can
be fun.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Spaces & Hard Returns Missing from E-mails

2014-02-22 Thread Debby Hill

Hi Annette,

Occasionally I have this happening to me using JAWS 14 on a
windows XP machine with outlook 2007. I usually don't end up
writing an entire email before I notice it because I have a
braille display, and I can see it happening. I have tried many
things like closing outlook, then reloading JAWS, and just
refreshing the screen. The only thing that works is rebooting the
computer. The only reason I can think of that it happens to me is
that at work I have to remote into various computers and end of
using different versions of JAWS from 7 to 14. I have been
thinking that maybe after awhile JAWS just gets really confused.
However, rebooting is no fun when you are working and already
remoted into 2 computers.

If anyone else has any ideas, I know Annette and I would sure
like to hear them.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Debby

- Original Message -
From: "Annette Carr" I am using JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 computer. When typing the body
of an
e-mail message in Outlook 2010, I'm finding that all spaces and
hard returns
are missing. I will type up the message and JAWS is reading what
I type in
as it should. When I attempt to go to the top of the message to
re-read it,
I get absolutely no feedback from JAWS. I have to use Alt+Tab to
move away
from the message and then return to it. Once back in the
message, all of
the characters I typed are there, but there are no spaces or hard
returns in
the message. This is happening on both of my work computers.
Does anyone
have any ideas to what is going on and how to get rid of the
problem?

Thanks,

Annette

[JAWS-Users] WLM address book

2014-02-22 Thread Richard Hamel
Hi all,

I believe I have the latest WLM.

Is there anyway to use first letter navigation with searching for e mail
addresses?

For example, if I want to forward a message, it would be so easy if I could
use this feature to locate all of the desired contacts.

Also, in sending a new e mail message.

Are there earlier versions of WLM that are better? If so, how does one
attain and change to that version?

Thanks for any help.
