Hmm! There goes that theory, although it always happens on my desktop also and not on a computer I have remoted to. Debby - Original Message - From: "Annette Carr" I am using JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 computer. When typing the body of an e-mail message in Outlook 2010, I'm finding that all spaces and hard returns are missing. I will type up the message and JAWS is reading what I type in as it should. When I attempt to go to the top of the message to re-read it, I get absolutely no feedback from JAWS. I have to use Alt+Tab to move away from the message and then return to it. Once back in the message, all of the characters I typed are there, but there are no spaces or hard returns in the message. This is happening on both of my work computers. Re: [JAWS-Users] Tapin Radio
If you can't locate the source of the info precisely, as there are many settings, this makes a fix to whatever problem you are having, more difficult. There is a checkmark/toggle for 'stream information' in the Status bar settings menu. It will say 'checked' if it is on, but will not say 'unchecked' if it is off. So find it and press enter on it, to see or hear the results (if any as you listen to a stream ) for a couple of minutes. Also, down in the preferences dialogue in Settings, if you shift-tab from the start you will find about five tabs of peak meter adjustments. Uncheck 'peak meter reading enabled', about five back from the start. . - Original Message - From: "Becky Buckner" To: Sent: Friday, February 21, 2014 11:52 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Tapin Radio have no idea. they're just numbers. Re: [JAWS-Users] adding Microsoft Security Essentials to the System Tray?
Hi Another way to get programs into the system tray in windows 7 is to pin the program to the system tray. To do this, you must find the path for and the name of the actual program. You can find this information in the properties of a shortcut for the program. To view a shortcut's properties, focus on the shortcut and press the applications key for the context menu. Then arrow up one time and when it says properties, press enter. Focus will be on the path and program name, which are highlighted. if you can't find a shortcut, there usually will be one in the all programs menu of the start menu. So navigate to the path and the program name. Be careful that you navigate to the entry that has the same extension, such as exe, as the shortcut. This may be a bit tricky, since if you hide file extensions, there might be multiple entries in the folder that will read the same in Windows. Once you have focus on the program you want, press the applications key to open the context menu. Then arrow down to pin to system tray and press enter. The program should show up the next time it's started if not immediately. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dacia Luck Sent: Friday, February 21, 2014 10:10 To: jaws-users-list Subject: [JAWS-Users] adding Microsoft Security Essentials to the System Tray? The only reason I can think of that it happens to me is that at work I have to remote into various computers and end of using different versions of JAWS from 7 to 14. I have been thinking that maybe after awhile JAWS just gets really confused. However, rebooting is no fun when you are working and already remoted into 2 computers. If anyone else has any ideas, I know Annette and I would sure like to hear them. Sorry I can't be of more help. Does anyone have any ideas to what is going on and how to get rid of the problem? [JAWS-Users] question about Windows Updates
Hi, I currently have the settings set for the Windows Update to download the updates but let me choose to install them. I had it set at one point for Windows to download and install them automatically and it seemed as if everytime I would shut down my computer even if it was more than once a day there were always updates installing which slows down the process of the computer shutting down. Now that I've changed the setting to download them but let me choose to install them, I keep being told the same updates are available to download every day even if I've told it to install them. It does and says Windows installed new updates, click here to see which ones have been installed. Then a few minutes later it says there are new updates to install and when I check it out it's the same ones that said they'd just been installed. Are they not really installing or what? is there a setting I need to change? The checkboxes are checked for the updates I want to install. I have Windos 7 64 bit. thanks, Dacia For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Security issue?
Hi all, I have 15.0 and Win 7. I get nervous when I am negotiating through some web sites and I hear, "Google" and a search term I've used in the past. Is this a security issue? Can these search terms be erased? Example, I am on the "woot" web site, I click on a link I'm interested in, and as I am reading the information, there seems to be a paragraph about the Joe's A Bank item I was reading a couple of weeks ago. [JAWS-Users] WLM address book
Hi all, I believe I have the latest WLM. Is there anyway to use first letter navigation with searching for e mail addresses? For example, if I want to forward a message, it would be so easy if I could use this feature to locate all of the desired contacts. Also, in sending a new e mail message. Are there earlier versions of WLM that are better? If so, how does one attain and change to that version? Thanks for any help.
