I am using a Windows 7 laptop with JAWS 15 and Windows Mail as my email

folder and would appreciate instructions for a computer illiterate or

[JAWS-Users] JAWS Verbosity.

2014-03-03 Thread Kuenga Chhoegyel
Hello,

Every time I wish to work on a table, I have to set JAWS verbosity to read
the column headings. Is there a possibility of setting to a default setting
so as to read the column heading whenever I work on a table rather than
setting every time I work?

Thanking you.

Since I wrote the guidelines I imagine it falls to me to reply to this
point. If memory serves nobody asked for the direct download links, Mike has
just always posted them because that's the kind of guy he happens to be.

OK here's a thought on the matter for Mike since he has taken the initiative
in this matter. Mike, give the list instructions on how you obtain the
direct links the next time you find yourself up on that bar stool of yours.

In fact once you post the directions I will send them up to the tips and
tricks page for all the world to view. After that if anybody wants to
continue posting the links feel free, let's just not have a flood of
messages doing the same thing. That would make me sad and I don't like to be
sad.

I have no problem with the posting of direct download links, however, this
really doesn't teach anyone how to really find the link or information they
need.
according to the list and guidelines,

Now this is a very important point in my opinion, asking the list for exact
instructions every time is not a good thing to do for a major reason. It
creates a dependency situation even if you don't realize it does. The ideal
place I am hoping the list will arrive at some day is that everybody no
matter how new they might happen to be with JAWS or computers will have the
confidence to try things on their own, and yet feel if they get stuck the
list will be there to help put them back on track.
so, not knowing how to find the jaws download link can and should be a
learning experience.

Hi all,

I can't believe I lost this info. but,

Could someone let me know how to get the internet Explorer favorites on
to

the Firefox favorites?

I kind of remember that there was a way to convert internet Explorer
favs

to Firefox bookmarks, and a way to set up a favorite section in
Mozellafirefox.

Thanks so much!

Hello.
Using jaws 15 and windows 7. Thought I would give face book another try. Are
there any email lists or podcasts that may serve as a tutorial for facebook? I
am aware that m.facebook.com is less cluttered and advisable. I'm wondering
how you can put people in groups such as friends, family, etc.

 Hi Trish,

If you don't tab arrow up to Local Folders it puts the new folder in a
different level than your other folders. The new folder will go into
 level
3 the folder list is level 2. It's been a long time since I've put a
folder into level 3 but, if I remember correctly having folders in level
 3
can cause some navigation problems. HTH

2014-03-03 Thread Liuda
I have the exact same problem there and have not yet been able to resolve it
either. Ever since Yahoo improved??? its websites, functions and
operations, it has been a royal nightmare for moderators who use JAWS.
In the past to delete a message in the Archives, I had only to check it
and go to the delete button and it was a done deal. I still haven't figured
out how to delete a single message without taking a whole bunch of them out
in the process.
I don't think Yahoo ever thought about us even though they are well aware of
screen user users which seems so strange.
If anybody moderates a yahoogroup and has figured out any solutions to
ways of using the new interface, please share your discoveries with the rest
of us?
In advance, thank you very much.

Hi, all, well I just had a friend who is a computer guy and has me on remote
access, go with me to that page and I opened that management link. Turns out
he says there is a big add there on the screen which is hiding his being
able to read the menu for the management link. It is blocking being able to
see the menu and you can't get rid of the ad. What idiot did that? Not even
a sighted personcould do anything with that link. So I guess that is the
reason, and I won't say in public what I think of Yahoo. Thanks to those who
sent suggestions. I don't know if a later version of jaws would make any

Hi, list, I am having trouble accessing a page for a Yahoo group. I
can go
to the group page and to my list that I moderate, and I need to open a
link
called management in order to change the status of a member on the
list.
Every time I hit enter on that management link, it won't read me
anything
on the page. On this management link and the one before it, it says
button
collapsed, has pop-up. Does anyone know how to make this work?
Thanks in

Re: [JAWS-Users] Desktop

2014-03-03 Thread Mike B.
Hi Trish,

I always have to alt + tab back to the desktop after closing programs even
though my desktop theme is set on Windows Classic.

To check see if you're using the classic desktop theme do the following:

1. While on the desktop press the F5 key to make sure that nothing is
selected.
2. Press the applications key, arrow down to Personalize press enter.
Listen to Jaws it will report which theme is running. If it's not Windows
Classic then continue with the rest of the steps.
3. You will now be in the Themes Gallery. here the different themes are in
columns. To find the Windows Classic Theme, arrow down to Windows7 Basic,
right arrow 1 time to Windows Classic press enter. Wait a little while
for the system to make the changes. You might hear a sound when it's done.

Also, changing themes will probably change your Sound Schemes as well. So,
you might have to alter your sound schemes to get the sounds you want.

Take care.

I do not have personalization through the apps key, however through the

nothing else open at time. This is on the desktop. The laptop will say
desktop.

[JAWS-Users] jaws and a work question

2014-03-03 Thread Jamie Prater
Hi, all, I am considering working for either Convergys.com or westathome.com
doing call center/customer service work. Is it possible to use jaws 15 with
wifi and laptop with wifi and windows 7 to do this type of work? I need to
use the laptop so that I can sit and use my pc comfortably due to issues
with muscle spasms. I also have a focus 40 blue braille display that I
could use if I did this type of work. I would like to talk to someone who
has worked for either or both of these companies and uses jaws and braille
display exclusively to do their job. I want to know how you do your job
efficiently and independently with jaws and focus 40 and if their interfaces
and platforms are totally accessible with jaws. The rehabilitation people
are not very clear about answering these questions. Thanks and have a
blessed day.

Take care.
Mike

I need to know why on my desktop, when I alt tab around, I do not get
desktop?

This is even after I've already opened something and closed it, it does not

go back to desktop. This does not occur on the laptop, so wondering why it
is this way on a desktop?

Both are running windows 7, if there's something I can do, please advise.

Thanks,

Trish
