[JAWS-Users] Problem with JAWS 15 in Firefox

2014-09-03 Thread Javad Hoseini
Hello
I have a big problem with JAWS 15 in Firefox. I like tabbed browsing. I
like to open new tabs without jumping into the new page I have opened. For
example I open the links in Google without going away from google search
results. I press Ctrl+Enter on the links to open them in a new tab. I know
I can set firefox to jump into the new tab when I open it, but I don't like
to do so. I have not activated this option.

I used to enjoy tabbed browsing with Firefox and JAWS14, but since I
upgraded to JAWS 15, a big problem has occurred. Whenever I press Ctrl+Enter
on a link, the link opens in a new tab, but JAWS starts reading the new tab.
I have not set Firefox to jump to the new tab. Firefox does not jump into
the new tab when I open it. For example I am in google page and I press
Ctrl+Enter on a link. I am still in Google Page, but JAWS reads the new tab
without switching to the new tabb. Then I have to press Ctrl+Tab to go to
the new tab and then Ctrl+Shift+Tab to come back into Google to continue
opening new tabs.
I hope I could explain clearly.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 13 Yahoo Mail

2014-09-03 Thread david
hello;
I believe the following will help you.

Make sure you've set up POP access in Yahoo Mail before continuing. Learn
how to
enable POP access.

Setting up Yahoo Mail in Outlook 2013

1. In Outlook 2013, click File | Add Account.
2. Select Manual setup or additional server types.
3. Click Next.
4. Select POP.
5. Click Next.
6. On the “Account Settings” page, enter your account settings:

• Your Name: The name you want to show when you send email.
• Email address: Your full Yahoo email address.
• Account Type: POP3
• Incoming Mail Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
• Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
• User Name: Your Yahoo ID.
• Password: Your Yahoo account password.
• Leave the “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication” option
unchecked.

7. Click More Settings.
8. Click the Outgoing Server tab.

• Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box.
• Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

9. Click the Advanced tab. Enter advanced information:

• Incoming server (POP3) port: 995
• Select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).
• Outgoing server (SMTP) port: 465, 587, or 25
• Set the encryption type to SSL or TLS
• Set your desired server timeout and delivery options.
 - We recommend leaving a copy of messages on the server.

10. Click OK.
11. Restart Outlook.
12. Click Send/Receive All Folders.

Step 1: Enabling POP in Yahoo Mail

Important: Only messages from your Yahoo Mail's Inbox and Spam folders can
be delivered to an external email client.

1. Sign in to
Yahoo Mail.
2. Mouse over the Settings menu icon
Gear Icon
 | select Settings.
 - The Settings window opens.
3. Click Accounts.
4. At the right of Yahoo Account, click Edit.
 - A window with additional account settings opens.
5. To the right of Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere, select POP.
6. Select your POP option from the drop-down menu:

• Don't download spam email - Only delivers your Inbox messages, not your
Spam.
• Download spam with no special indicators - Delivers Inbox and Spam
messages with no visible Spam indicator.
• Download spam, but prefix the word Spam - Delivers Inbox and Spam
messages. Spam messages contain Spam in the subject line.

7. Click Save.

Updates are different than upgrades. A maintenance update within a
version shouldn't break scripts. However, and upgrade, such as from
version 15 to 16 could very well break any 3rd party scripts. This
happens at my work whenever a new version of JAWS comes out. This is why
we wait to upgrade until we are notified that new scripts are available.

will it work if I use SAPI 5 voices?
or, do i need an external synhesizer?
I'm using jaws15.
I got Dectalk uSB, but I don't know how to install the drivers on the

You can use an external synthesizer or you can designate Jaws to use your
onboard synthesizer. When you plug in your turntable, it is becoming the
default synthesizer.. If you designate Jaws to use the onboard synthesizer,
not the default synthesizer, it should keep speaking when you plug in the
turntable.

I can't remember the keystrokes for choosing which synthesizer you want to run

Hi Randy,
I think the incorrect terms are being used here, causing the confusion.
I believe what Clifford is meaning to say is, soundcard, or sound device.
Windows takes the last sound device plugged in to the system the default
sound device, and if Jaws is set to use the default device, then you are not
hearing it because
your USB device is not equipped with speakers.
You will need to determine the name of your soundcard, and then set Jaws to
always use it.

This isn't a JAWS problem. It's caused by holding down a key for too
long or
by pressing one too many times in quick succession. I think you can
change
this behaviour in Settings, Keyboard, Layout tab. One way is to Change
the

hello;
I believe the following will help you.

Make sure you've set up POP access in Yahoo Mail before continuing. Learn
how to enable POP access.

Setting up Yahoo Mail in Outlook 2013

1. In Outlook 2013, click File | Add Account.
2. Select Manual setup or additional server types.
3. Click Next.
4. Select POP.
5. Click Next.
6. On the “Account Settings” page, enter your account settings:

• Your Name: The name you want to show when you send email.
• Email address: Your full Yahoo email address.
• Account Type: POP3
• Incoming Mail Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com • Outgoing Mail Server:
smtp.mail.yahoo.com • User Name: Your Yahoo ID.
• Password: Your Yahoo account password.
• Leave the “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication” option
unchecked.

7. Click More Settings.
8. Click the Outgoing Server tab.

• Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box.
• Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

9. Click the Advanced tab. Enter advanced information:

• Incoming server (POP3) port: 995
• Select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).
• Outgoing server (SMTP) port: 465, 587, or 25 • Set the encryption type to
SSL or TLS • Set your desired server timeout and delivery options.

7. Click Save.

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to set up Outlook 13 to import your Yahoo mail? If
yes, what are the steps? Using JAWS 15 and Windows 7. Thanks in advance!

Jorge,
It was only a suggestion towards a possible solution; don't worry about
it. Quick Settings (Insert+v); Press TAB KEY once; Press G twice, to
bring up Graphics; and then press SPACEBAR to have ALL Graphics read
(including unlabelled graphics, which are assigned numeric values). Good
as JAWS may be, it may not be able to work optimally in all situations.

Has anyone ordered off of Walmart and before checkout there is this
clickable element that states does your order contain a gift? I've
pressed
spacebar, enter, left mouse click and nothing. I'm not gunna ask one
of my
sighted kids to help as it is a birthday gift for one of them lol.
Thoughts?

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws stops whenever I plug in my uSB stereo and turntable

2014-09-03 Thread Richard Justice
Hi Randy,
That may be true of the stereo, but typically, turntables are output devices
so the sound of Jaws would not come thru the turntable.
To set the preferred soundcard for Jaws:
1. While in the Jaws program window, open the utilities menu, and then open
the soundcard sub-menu.
2. it should display something like this:
Windows default sound card checked
Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

In the above example, Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) , is the
on-board soundcard in this system.
Notice that the Windows default sound card is checked,
and I have it this way so that when I plug another audio device in, such as
a USB headset, Jaws will jump right to it.

In your particular case, having Jaws use something different than mine would
probably be your best bet.
HTH,
Rick Justice

My usb turntable and stereo has speakers as a matter of fact.
I use windows 7. How do i find out the name of my sound card?
At 04:34 PM 9/3/2014, you wrote:
Hi Randy,
I think the incorrect terms are being used here, causing the confusion.
I believe what Clifford is meaning to say is, soundcard, or sound device.
Windows takes the last sound device plugged in to the system the default
sound device, and if Jaws is set to use the default device, then you are
not
hearing it because
your USB device is not equipped with speakers.
You will need to determine the name of your soundcard, and then set Jaws to
always use it.
