The main point is, however, both the USB device and the port have to be 3.0
in order to realize any increase in transfer speed.

Anyone on here can feel free to correct me, but I don't think there's
very much difference between a USB 2.0 and 3.0 port. It sounds like
the colors are different, but other than that, they're probably alike
except for speed. If I'm not mistaken, USB 3.0 is faster than 2.0. The
computer and the connected device may share data more quickly, but
that may be all. On 11/19/14, Gary Ray ghr...@charter.net wrote:

Hi Nancy,

You will have to paste the document into another one. The new document can
be a text document (Notepad) or a Word document. Once the document has been
copied or cut in Wordpad, you cannot scroll through it. You can also try to
just paste it back into the same Wordpad document.

Hello Jorge,

Research It is a feature that is part of Jaws for Windows, so
there's no need to download any additional program. I believe
that it was first introduced in Jaws 13, so if you have this or
any newer version, it's part of the package. It is a feature
which allows you to check the weather, flight schedules, use Ocr
scanning for various images and documents, convert currency, and
quite a few other functions which I can't remember off the top of

Re: [JAWS-Users] activation J15 Key

2014-11-20 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi Jorge

I believe we are talking about the same things. What you called the
certification disk sounds like what Freedom Scientific calls the
authorization CD. You receive this CD the first time you receive JAWS or
certain other FS products. The only thing on the CD is the 20 digit
authorization number which you may be referring to as the key number. You
also receive the authorization number in print and Braille on the Jacket of
the original CDs, but not on a SMA Cd. This 20 digit authorization number
is a hexadecimal number (base 16). It has the digits 0 through 9 and a
through f. If you insert the authorization CD into a computer, the
authorization number will be saved on that computer. When you originally
install JAWS or a version for a new SMA on a computer, you will need this
number to authorize JAWS so you don't have to run in 40 minute demo mode.
Also if you change certain hardware in the computer, the JAWS locking code
will change and JAWS will need to be reauthorized. When you're authorizing
JAWS, if the authorization number was stored on the computer, it will appear
when needed. If the number wasn't stored on the computer, you can insert
the authorization CD to save it, or enter it manually. I hope this is what
you're were looking for.

Hi

To retrieve a JAWS activation key, you will need the complete 20 digit
authorization code along with serial number and locking code.. The
authorization code that FSActivate shows you on the screen which has your
remaining authorization count is only part of your authorization code and
won't authorize JAWS.

 Ann Marie,

Do you know your serial number? If so, you can go to
www.fsactivate.com and retrieve your activation key. Just follow the
instructions on the page, it takes a few minutes and there will be
about 3 or 4 different pages to open up during the process, but just
scroll down and read what it

tells you to do. You can then download the JAWS 15 file from the
Freedom Scientific Downloads webpage. JAWS 15 will now be found under
the Past or Old versions of JAWS link. If you do not know the serial
number, I am afraid that you will only be able to use JAWS in the 40
minute demo mode.
Another option is if you have someone at home who can retrieve the
serial number off of the software packaging for you. Good luck.

Call the computer manufacturer's Technical Support Number
with the computer's model number. They will be able to tell
you which ports are USB
3.0 and which are 2.0. They will be grouped together, not
intermixed. For instance, on a laptop, the 3.0 ports are
usually on the left side of the computer when facing the

Call the computer manufacturer's Technical Support Number
with the computer's model number. They will be able to tell
 you which ports are USB
3.0 and which are 2.0. They will be grouped together, not
intermixed. For instance, on a laptop, the 3.0 ports are
usually on the left side of the computer when facing the
screen, and the 2.0 ports are on the right side.

[JAWS-Users] Dropping Wifi Connection

Hi,

After updating my HP Envy from Windows 8 to 8.1, my wifi connection

this happens, I just reestablish the connection and everything works fine.
This happens probably about half the time. Is there a way to keep the

Re: [JAWS-Users] Finding USB 3.0 ports

2014-11-20 Thread Mike Boyd

Hi Rose,

Does this port work at all? And, can you actually insert the drive or other
device into the port? You could have a bad port if nothing works in that one
particular port, or if a device refuses to plug into it, you may be trying
to insert a USB device into the HDMI port on your computer. They are almost
identical, but the HDMI port has two of the corners which are rounded while
the USB ports are square at all four corners. It can be hard to determine
why a USB device will not work in one port, but will in another, I have a
Kingston 3.0 flash drive, and two USB 3.0 ports sitting side by side on my
notebook PC, and the drive will work in one of them, but not the other. All
of my other devices will work in either one. Go figure.

Scott,

Not sure, I have the same issue with sleep mode but I went into the power
settings and changed it; now it doesn't drop the connection as often when I
wake it up.
So, take a look around in the power settings under control panel.

Unfortunately, the web is replete with lots of complaints about wireless

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
