Subject: [JAWS-Users] Changes to View in Outlook

Good Morning,

I updated to Microsoft 2013 a few months ago. Prior to that I had been
able to use various views such as to. From, and subject to sort and organize
emails. Now I cannot. . I have gone through the ribbons to find the
choices I want on several occasions but find the process difficult where in
the past I could find it easily. Can someone assist me?

Thanks,

Michelle

[JAWS-Users] editing metadata tags in mp3 file

2014-11-24 Thread Alan Robbins
Are there any JAWS friendly programs out there that allow
editing missing or inaccurate info in metadata tags without
uncompressing an mp3 file? I know you can do this in ITunes
but would like to complete the task on the source file
before importing into that beast

I have always used MP3Tag. The version I use is an older one. A while back I
upgraded to a newer version, but didn't care for how Jaws worked with it so
I downgraded. I have no idea what version they're on now as I've stayed on
my old one since it does everything I want. I'd have to check later what
version of the program it is.

Give it a try and see if the latest MP3Tag works for you. It's what I use to
edit tags before importing into iTunes.

Jaws can not get past the protection error even the jaws cursor can not read

Hi Lenny,

Have you tried to use Openbook to read it or, another OCR program? I don't
have a protected PDF file to play around with so, I can't experiment. 1
other thought, since the text is on the screen, try virtualizing the window,
selecting all the text, pasting it into Notepad to see if you can read it
that way. Remember to escape out of the virtual view or, you won't be able

Re: [JAWS-Users] pdf protection error

2014-11-24 Thread Mike B.
Lenny,

In Adobe Reader do you have, Protected Mode, disabled? If not try the
following if your running Adobe XI:

Note that there are links with the Security Enhanced section to explain the
consequences of
unchecking items there, and you may want to find out what they have to say.

1. Open Adobe from your desktop or start menu shortcut. Go into preferences
with control-k. JAWS lands on an item in a tree view.
If you have been here before, it will be the item you last opened. Arrow
down to Security Enhanced. Note that this is the item below Security.
Then uncheck these 2 options, the 2nd option is not necessary to uncheck
but, optional:
Enable Protected Mode at startup, needs to be unchecked.
Enable Enhanced Security, does not need to be unchecked.
Note. When making changes in the Security Enhanced section, you will be told
that Adobe needs to be restarted, but you can wait to finish the other
changes first.

2. Launch the Edit menu, scroll down to the Accessibility submenu and open
it. Scroll down to the Set-up Assistant and press enter. The Set-Up
Assistant has five screens, but the only change you have to make is on the
last, screen 5 of 5. Go through all the screens, pressing spacebar on Next
in each instance, until you reach the fifth and final screen. Here, tab to
the check box labeled Display PDF documents in the web browser and make
sure it
is unchecked. It may be checked by default. Then tab to the Okay button
press enter to save close.

Take care.

Hi Lenny,

This is what I do when I open a PDF file get the empty document message:
1. With the PDF file open, press, control + P, to open the print dialogue.
2. Arrow to the, Freedom Import Printer, press enter. This will start a
scan with Openbook

I have run into empty PDF files that wouldn't read with just using Openbook
but, for whatever reason, I was able to read it using the Freedom Import
Printer. I know it just don't sound right but, I can only tell you what
happened in the situation I was in.

Also, have you tried using an on line converter like:

I purchased a magic illusion document. It came in pdf format. When I try to
open it I get a protection error that states that the author set security
that can not be accessed. Interesting, my wife can read it on the screen.
Jaws can not get past the protection error even the jaws cursor can not read
what my wife sees. How can I get around this.

Re: [JAWS-Users] editing metadata tags in mp3 file

2014-11-24 Thread TheHangMan
Hi, I don't know what you guys are talking about?
Are you talking about renaming a music track in your music folder before
moving it to the iTune media folder???.

Jaws can do that without downloading anything.

Everybody does things differently.

Thanks, this was the ticket. I downloaded the one from the
JAWS site, think it is version 2.4 from 2009. Works great

Best,
Al

I have always used MP3Tag. The version I use is an older
one. A while back I upgraded to a newer version, but didn't
care for how Jaws worked with it so I downgraded. I have no
idea what version they're on now as I've stayed on my old
one since it does everything I want. I'd have to check later
what version of the program it is.

Give it a try and see if the latest MP3Tag works for you.
It's what I use to edit tags before importing into iTunes.

Are there any JAWS friendly programs out there that allow
editing missing or inaccurate info in metadata tags without
uncompressing an mp3 file? I know you can do this in ITunes
but would like to complete the task on the source file
before importing into that beast

Best,

Al

2014-11-24 Thread Scorpio Forever

Hi Alan,

You can do this easily with Winamp by pressing alt+the number 3 on the
number row. This will open up a dialog box for the current track, and allow
you to edit the meta-tag information.

Hope this helps.

Mike, thanks for all of your help. I made the changes and still can not open
the file. I wrote to the author and he made a special unprotected file for
me.

Hi Lenny,

I just checked my AdobeXI after opening preferences, navigating to
Security Enhanced, tab 1 time, the first option is, Enable Protected Mode
at startup. This should be unchecked. Then tab to the, Okay button, press
enter to save the change close preferences.
Take care.

Mike, well, I see security enhansed it is 25 of 31 in the list. There are no
settings to uncheck. It goes from security to signatures. here is a little
more about the file.
Thanks for ordering this Mini-Mystery e-Book. It is attached to this e-mail
as a pdf file.
I tried to read it with openbook and it tells me that the file is empty. I
was able to print it but not read it go figure! I may have to scan each page
to get around the problem. It would be nice if I could change the security
options I am using the xi version of adobe.

Take care.

Hi Lenny,

Have you tried to use Openbook to read it or, another OCR program? I don't
have a protected PDF file to play around with so, I can't experiment. 1
other thought, since the text is on the screen, try virtualizing the window,
selecting all the text, pasting it into Notepad to see if you can read it
that way. Remember to escape out of the virtual view or, you won't be able
to open Notepad.
Take care.

Is anyone able to upgrade their AVG free edition? I'm having a problem
downloading and installing the upgrade to AVG free 2015.

The program prompts me to upgrade, but that's not at all JAWS friendly, So,
I went to C net to do the download and install, but I've hit a snag. You
come to a button where you choose which version you want. You've already
begun by clicking the link for the free version, but the company would
really like you to opt for the paid version. So, the button where you
choose which version you want is set at their recommendation to try the paid
version for 30 days free. I can't hear the other choices so can't choose
them!

I'm using win 7 and jaws 15. Thanks, Karen

[JAWS-Users] adding contact from email in outlook 2010

2014-11-24 Thread Shane Hecker
If you get an email and want to add a contact from that email, you are
supposed to be able to right click on the contact of interest, then hit
add contact. I tried this today and no matter what I did, the add
contact item never came up. I got cut, copy, paste, select all, and a
couple other things, but no add contact. Using Jaws 15, Windows 7 pro.
Tried looking up the information on the internet, but it didn't help.
What am I doing wrong? I right clicked on the name in the from field.
Thanks for any info.

Shane
