Not if you use Office 2010 or higher. I've never seen even a demo copy of
Window Eyes in years, and don't know how the Office-related version compares to
the retail, but the price on both major screen readers is pretty similar, if
not identical.

They told me at FS, I believe $420 or maybe $480, and I could get some kind of

Window-Eyes 9.1 is $895.

 Hi.
Cortana, excuse any typos, doesn't work too well on my netbook, but I'm
willing to believe that I'm not using it properly and perhaps my
computer isn't the best example in any case. As for Sparton, I tried to
try it, and got nowhere. The only thing that almost worked was using the
touch cursor commands, but I was unable to find the address bar.

No surprise though, it is likely to take a bit for screen readers to get
a handle on things with that, those virtual buffers tend to be tricky in
that controls they aren't supporting just don't get any support at all.
It isn't like a native interface where you can try to work around issues
 and it still mostly works.

 Hi.
I think I can add to the bit about Adobe. Apparently, according to a
podcast I heard recently that I would name if I could remember which it
was, Adobe is taking part in the development of Sparton in at least a
small way, let alone making its own offerings compatible.

I haven't proven this, I just heard it by word of mouth on a podcast

Bob, I can answer some of these questions but not all of them, yet.

How did you find out that Microsoft is no longer going to use internet
 explorer for windows 10?

That information has been available for quite some time. If you were
 to
Google Windows 10, you would find that information. In addition,
 Freedom
Scientific and Microsoft always work in tandem and make sure that any
 new
software they come out with is compatible.

Can you tell me a little bit about Spartan? Will it be accessible with
 jaws?
and can you use adobe flash player with it?

Spartan is a search engine built with Google Chrome and Firefox as the
initial platform. It has characteristics of both Google Chrome and
 Firefox.

 What up bro:

I have 9 items on my taskbar. The last item is my shutdown shortcut,
so all I have to do is press windows key 9 to shutdown quickly. If
I'd like to place it at number 1, I simply focus on that item then
press CTRL numpad slash and jaws will say: To drag and drop place the
jaws or pc curser in the dropped location and press CTRL numpad slash.
After jaws says that, I tapped my left or right arrow key until I got
to internet explorer which for me I know is the first item on the
taskbar, then I pressed the above keystroke again and it worked for
me.
Now what was item 9 is now item 1. When I dragged and dropped my 9th
item over to the first item, the first item became the second item on
the taskbar.

Hi all,
I never post here, but I joined this list a long time ago. I have a
question. I'm testing the accessibility of a web site on Microsoft Share

was anything I could do to accurately test it for accessibility using Jaws

I look forward to any suggestions/recommendations you can provide.

I agree that non-compliant programs should not be purchased in the first
place. But if accessibility issues are later found, Section 508 clearly
puts the burden on the seller's shoulders. I am not saying anything new,

If it were properly tested prior to purchase by persons qualified to find
problems we would not be in such a dilemma. No matter how, Discover
Technology has found a solution for users of AT such as JAWS can use
SharePoint.

My issue is the end user ends up paying additional monies. It flies back
in the face of the seller when the acquisition documentation has the
appropriate information and the seller still renders inaccessible
applications, etc.

2015-04-24 Thread Michael B.
Hi Joey,

Since we don't know your key layout configuration of your keyboard we can
only give you a general idea based on our own keyboard layouts. Why don't
you try turning Jaws keyboard help on start pressing keys to see how your
keyboard is layed out? The keystroke is, Insert / Jaws Key + 1, on the
number row. This keystroke is a toggle so, the same keystroke will turn
keyboard help off as well. Every time you press a key Jaws should report
the function of that particular key. HTH
Take care.

Now what was item 9 is now item 1. When I dragged and dropped my 9th

the taskbar.

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] drag and drop

I remember over the years folks have mentioned drag and
drop (CTRL numpad slash) was a hit and miss. I just
reorganized my taskbar on windows 8.1 and drag and drop was
a breeze. I'm not sure if this is due to jaws 16 or just I
got lucky. Thoughts on drag and drop so far?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Number lock screen lock and print screen issues

2015-04-24 Thread Michael B.
Hi Again Joey,

But, you haven't mentioned if you are using a laptop or desktop computer /
keyboard! List members need to know information like that to give you the
best possible answers especially when you are referring to a keyboard issue.
I'm not trying to be a jerk but, just trying to get you the necessary help.
For example, if you're using a laptop I can't help you because I use a
desktop keyboard layout but, the Jaws keyboard help keystroke is the same
for both laptop desktop layouts.

Did you try turning on Jaws keyboard help?
Take care.

 Hi Joey,

Since we don't know your key layout configuration of your keyboard we can

keyboard is layed out? The keystroke is, Insert / Jaws Key + 1, on the

[JAWS-Users] Thank you all bluetooth headphones working!

2015-04-24 Thread David Moore
Hello all. I thank all of you for your suggestions. Patricia, I did
not get that USB converter with the headphones; therefore, I had to
buy that converter. For some reason, my Asus laptop did not have
Bluetooth capability, and I had to buy the Bluetooth converter to plug
into my USB drive. I bought it today, and my headphones sound better
than anything I have ever heard. I will talk to you all later.

Re: [JAWS-Users] counting a specific wordq

2015-04-24 Thread Brian Lee
Hello,

You can use the Find and Replace dialog box to do this.

1. Press CTRL+H.
2. In the Find What box type the word for which you want a count.
3. In the Replace with box type a ^ followed by the ampersand. Use shift
with 6 for the caret and shift with 7 for the ampersand. Don't use any
spacing. The ^ characters tell Word to replace whatever is in the Find What
box with itself.
4. Tab to the Replace All button and press spacebar.

Note: If you are wanting whole words only be sure to check that box in the
Find and Replace dialog box.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] RE2: [Discover 508, JAWS-Users] Jaws 15 and Microsoft SharePoint.

2015-04-24 Thread Dujari, Prateek
I believe there is an error in what you say. When I spoke to Discover 508,
they said they would have to install it on your employer's SharePoint server
space at the Enterprise level and there it could be done so for any number of
licenses including targeted to a specific individual. I recall it's not a
product to be installed on individual workstation computers on your desk and if
that is true, I think the cost is astronomical.

Hi,

Our agency is moving to using SharePoint. We have purchased Discovery 508.
This software installed on computers for staff using JAWS will change the
interface to make it easier for screen readers. HTH

Hi all,
I never post here, but I joined this list a long time ago. I have a question.
I'm testing the accessibility of a web site on Microsoft Share Point. I know it
isn't completely accessible, but I wanted to know if there was anything I could
do to accurately test it for accessibility using Jaws 15. I test for
accessibility according to the standards listed in section 508 of the Federal
Rehabilitation act.
I look forward to any suggestions/recommendations you can provide.
Thank you,
Tara
